I would like to see Banners get a reduce cooldown to 20 seconds while a reduce duration to 15 seconds.

This way, they’ll be more usable in PvP. A warrior can drop a banner and give buffs to everyone. It’ll annoy the PvE folks a bit, but it won’t destroy banners in PvE.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

I’d also like to see a change to banners. I would prefer the cooldown and duration to stay long though, because somebody came up with placing a banner on top of an enemy will finish them, which I think is a really cool idea.

I suggested a 90 second cooldown and 75 second duration. 120 second cooldown is too long if you happen to lose it or if someone grabs it and runs away- it strikes a better balance.

While I do like the idea of it finishing players for enhanced functionality in PVP and WVW, i’m against it finishing enemies on the intial landing of the banner. Reason why is because it’s ranged and to finish enemies off from a distance in 1 second is over powered.

I have proposed to grant banner skill 5 that functionality though- however the cooldown and cast time is too short. If cooldown is increased to .. say 30 seconds, and cast time was increased to 2.5 seconds, then this would be viable. We also have to consider that banners can be grabbed by anyone- so to prevent rampant finishing of downed players using banners, it’s a good idea to throw in a “universal cooldown” so players can’t use the same skill while it’s in cooldown after another player used it.

Banners should imo work similar to traps. Small cooldowns (like 30 seconds or something), some type of effect when you activate (plant) them like damage, knockdown, knockback, immobilize, fear, anything really based on the banner type. After that you get a pulsing effect for a duration (like 10 to 15 seconds), again based on the banner type. Those effects could be anything from flat stats (like we have now) to boons (might, protection, regen, fury).

Some rework to the banner trait in Tactics plus a new Banner Grand master trait would also augment this.

Result: Banners that actually are worth a kitten in PVP, more active gameplay in PVE.
Win-win in my book.

In terms of esports,
banner finishes downed enemy on banner trait will make warrior viable anyway even tho warrior sucks cuz this kinda ability is anyway very useful in esports.

ANET give us a reason to use banners. The terrible healing power coefficients and the no cool down Redux isn’t enough.

It would also help warrior out with their number one problem = sustain. Could take that banner regen trait with them. Would also be good for pve. So many times when i’ve dropped banners, people just abandon them and not take them with the group.

I have thought this many times, especially after seeing how Rev’s Glint utilities work.

It would be amazing if when I activated a banner, it sprouted out of my back and while I had the banner active it would be overwritten with whatever the banner’s unique bundle “2” skill is… For example Banner of Discipline would be activated and last it’s 90 seconds. While active I could hit “7,” or whatever I had it bound to, to grant Fury in an aoe. Then after 90 seconds it goes on its remaining cooldown.

Another way this could be implemented would be instead of the trait giving regen, which I’ve always thought was silly, it would make each banner that you have active pulse their unique bundle skill “2” ability in an aoe. Battle Standard for Stability, Strength for Vulnerability, Defense would cause an aoe knockback. etc etc.. The duration and ICD of each ability could be reworked to make them more balanced.

Moral of the story is banners and their trait are pretty lame and boring and could be MUCH cooler.

I like the idea of them acting like traps. Why exactly do the banners go away anyway? What reason is there not for them to be dropped just like a trap and they exist in the world for five minutes (life resets when picked up and placed back down after holding for say 2 seconds to prevent eventually trolling).

As for the banner coming with you, I’d like shouts reworked to fill that niche. for example; On your mark could have a pulsing fury buff to allies, and vulnerability and reveal on enemies.

Me too! I’ve been saying this since the trait changed.
The huge gap in between banners is too much, but the 6-second gap prior to the trait re-design was too short for ANet’s liking. 15 seconds is a solid compromise.

I was thinking of keeping the regen and adding a pulse healing to go with it. Healing Power works best when there are multiple sources of simultaneous healing, which is more likely with Ele and Guardian. But for “Warrior healer,” the most we get is weak, long-cooldown Shout-heals and pesky Banner Regen.

The banner skills themselves need a rework if they’re going to be used in combat, or carried outside of combat.
Stab needs to have its cast time dropped in half. Keep or increase the actual damage.
The unique benefits for each one need better intra-banner balance and utility.
The AoE swiftness works as a get-around tool for groups.
Sprint is okay, but could use a damage component.
Plant Banner ought to bring out the old Powerful Banner damage along with the Blast finisher.

I saw a good idea for this in someone’s rework. Basically, give the banner an activation that lasts a reasonably long time and a secondary ability that triggers on use. Using the secondary wouldn’t explode it like with Ranger spirits or nullify the banner like with Herald Facets.
To handle multiple banners, switching banners puts another active banner on cooldown for 10-20 seconds.
Bam, no more carrying banners.

In terms of pvp, well support warrior is 100% dead since shoutbow gone. The only way which i see the future form of warrior support is absolutely banner + shout form. But i don’t think no one gonna use this unless banner have some unique function like finishing downed foe when summoned and shout heal restore back to its previous healing amount.

You guys better to take berserker build, at least berserker build can now perform similar to tempest and chrono since it got buffed.
