Hi everyone,

Guild Wars 2 is my first MMO and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m currently lvl 35 with my Norn warrior. However, up until recently I’ve just been spending trait points without really thinking about specific builds since I was still working out what works best for my playstyle. Finally I’ve come to the conclusion that a greatsword in conjunction with an axe plus mace combo works best for me, now the only problem is trait points. What trait point trees should I be focusing on if i want to be reasonably durable whilst still dishing out reasonable damage? Also, what stats should I be looking for in my gear? Should I focus on stats that match the trait trees that I’m investing points in or should I pad out the remaining stats? I don’t run dungeons at the moment so I’m mainly looking at exploring the world and completing hearts etc. I also mainly play solo.

Any help or tips the community could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Well, personally I like full Berserker, can be somewhat challenging to learn though. With your Weapon set up I’d plan your traits for 30/25/0/0/15, or 20/25/0/0/25. Picking Axe and Greatsword traits for the first one, or just Greatsword traits in the second one. Note: It’s definitley worth it to not use your adrenaline skill (unless using Eviscerate as a finisher) to keep the effects of Trait V in both Strength/Discipline active

Now if you wanna have decent defense and good damage, Berserker armor with Cavalier Jewelery is a great combo. Using Ruby Orbs on armor and either Ruby Orbs or Emerald Orbs on Jewelery for a little bit more toughness.

Since you’re playing solo I’d using Healing Surge, For Great Justice and Signet of Rage all the time, for your other 2 skills these are good options: Banner of Discipline or Banner of Strength (not both, hard to carry 2 banners around), Signet of Might, Frenzy, Endure Pain, Signet of Stamina, and Shake it Off.

Edit: Forgot, as your leveling you won’t be able to get the stats I mentioned till 60 and I think Cavalier is only at 80. While leveling if you can afford it buy armor/weapons every 10 levels mixing Power/Toughness stats if possible

Great weapon choices.

Power is your primary priority, followed by pre and crit damage. Swap in vitality and toughness as needed to stay alive, that’s up to you to feel out how much you want.

With those weapons, I’d focus on offensive trait points. Here’s some of the most important ones:
Arms I (if you choose to run signet utilities, which is extremely strong until late levels)
Strength V
Discipline V
Arms X
Strength IV
