Berserker: What Could Have Been
When I think of a berserker, I typically think of fast attacks and big crits, and in many ways the berserker delivered on those. After the recent buffs I’m actually pretty happy with the berserker traits, but the utility skills are still horribly disappointing.
Conceptually, I rather like the idea of a raging damage machine and/or unstoppable force, and I think the “I’m so mad it BURNS!” thing is a rather clever way to boost warrior condi damage while still loosely maintaining the Anet goal of “warriors don’t do magic”.
I also like that they’ve tried to create those three separate paths, damage machine, burninator, and unstoppable force, in the traitline.
I just don’t think they’ve pulled it off, and there are probably a bunch of things getting in the way. The opportunity cost when you take the Beserker Traitline is just too high, and you don’t escape any of the regular fundamental warrior weaknesses when you do it, from what I can tell.
Berserker is the only elite specialization I haven’t seen in wvw, and I don’t think I’d feel compelled to tread carefully if I saw one unless it was running a rifle. Even then, I’d keep my reflect ready and otherwise burst him down first.

Well if you ask me ? I know what they could ve done with it watching what they did to others.
They could have implemented Great Axe, not some lazy 2 slot weapon which we don’t even need.
1. Regular attacks with speed of hammer which adds vuln on 1 and 2 hit, and might stack on 3rd combo.
2. Some sort of bull rush attack which would leave a trail which would be a fire field. Knocking down everyone on it’s pass with some evade frame in it.
3. Some sort of whirling attack while still being able to move doing massive damage.
4. Some sort of pulling attack which would graple foes to you.
5. Some sort of outrage attack which would just knock down up to 5 enemies in 240 radius.
They could have played with our weapons so when entering berserk mode they would remain the same but with some kind of upgrade.
100 Blades gain might on hit w/o strength.
Bonus to blade trail so it would apply burn with cripple.
Rush – bonus damage based on a distance traveled.
Whirlwind attack – larger radius + burn stack.
etc etc etc.
alot of wasted opportunities tbh. so sad.

You can’t expect them to alter every skill on every single weapon just for 1 elite spec, that’s way too much time/effort. I honestly was surprised that we got an entirely new burst for every weapon with berserker. (although to be fair several of them are not that different)
They should of left the torch/heavy armor condi spec to burn Gards…. the problem was they didnt know what wep to give warriors…. and the truth is we can use mostly everything thats warrior related. They should of in reality gave as a new skill set for gsword/hammer/etc for beserk… im saying this because we all know that warrior is outdated as hell compared to the new meta. People like warrior for the man mode weps…. I dont know much people make a warrior and think i want this guy to be a mad man with a torch that burns people.
I wanted the new elite line to buff my kshot war.

What berserk could have been?
F2: Berserk mode should support adrenaline, not use it. People should be afraid when you enter berserk mode. Berserk mode does not last long enough and the burst skills it changes are not any more dangerous. Berserk mode should work with other trait lines.
Torch: The torch should support the character, each attack should effect the warriors adrenaline. how Anet does this is up to them but I really wish the warrior had a support weapon besides warhorn, so perhaps make the torch a support weapon.
