Best Weapons For Warrior???
They all have their uses. I generally always main a GS because of the mobility and burst it provides
Greatsword is probably my most favorite weapon on a Warrior. It provides so much DPS.
I enjoy Greatsword/Longbow or Greatsword/Hammer.
But as others have stated, there’s no “best” weapon. They each have a purpose, and you just need to choose the right one for your playstlye.
Heavens Rage
Why does it have to be GS vs Axe? Is it viable to use both with this setup?
I like the Rifle + Long Bow
Depends what you’re doing. For big group WvW I can tell you hammer wins, and I’ll swap around with GS or S/Sh secondary depending on how my days going. I hate sword burst, but savage leap makes it almost neccessary to use for survival.
In WvW I mostly use melee weapons so greatsword and sword mainhand/axe offhand. In pve I use greatsword and rifle.
Axe/shield + Greatsword
[HMNG] Blackgate
Champion Legionnaire
The weapons I’ve used are:
Rifle, longbow, GS, Axe/Axe, Axe/Mace, Axe/Shield. In that order is the order in which I like my weapons, with the exception of the axes, I like those way more than the GS, but I think that’s because I play a Charr.
I play a shout support warrior, and my build is centered around keeping bleeds up on a target for as long as possible (my bleeds go to 14 in less than or near 1-2 seconds and stay on target the entire fight unless purged) while keeping my shouts up to provide a stack of 3 might, remove conditions, and add vulnerability; utilizing the rifle exlcusively unless there is a reflective mob/boss. Each shout heals for over 1200 hp per shout, no healing power is added.
I like the way it works, but honestly, as a 20-20-0-30-0 build, I think melee is far and away much better suited for the role. Right now, from my own opinion and gameply, ranged is just not as good as melee is right now.
My guildies do not have anything negative to say about the way I play, and I’ve even solo’d Alpha in CoE because everyone else died (we have a mesmer who has done it a few times, she’s a beast). However, I honestly believe that melee is far better, and I’m in the process of building up funds to switch runes back to ogre.
I just wanted to add in my own experience from a ranged perspective. Although it’s fun and rewarding, melee is just far better right now.
I’m not 80 yet and haven’t done much PvP, but from what I have done I honestly can’t imagine ever playing with anything but a greatsword for the mobility alone. I also off-hand a sword+horn/shield because of the mobility issue.
I really wish things like bull charge had a 1200 range but only knocked over maybe the first target or something. If the class had more mobility I wouldn’t feel so limited in my options.
There is no such thing OP.
Every situation has a weapon or two that perform best in it, but no weapon performs better than all others in every situation.
Axe/Axe and LB will best anything in 360 degrees AoE situations.
GS will best anything vs stationary targets.
Rifle will best anything for 1200 range single target/line DPS/burst.
Hammer / Maces will best anything when CC is needed to avoid wipes.
Swords will best anything at condition damage and mobility.
Shield / Warhorn will best anything at defense/support.
Sure you could be a slacker and go mono/due weapons, or you could have saved the wipe that time your team needed CC to prevent up-front spiking and you had no hammer, or that other time you needed to attack that tower in WvW but you only had the Rifle and LB was still a mistery to you.
There is no best weapon, only weapons that fit your trait build and situation.
Hammer: Debuffing and trash mob control.
Mace: Minimal target debuffing, controlling, and blocking.
Axe: Wide arc of attack and good sustained damage.
Sword: High condition damage and decent mobility.
Rifle: Single target ranged burst/condition damage.
Longbow: Fantastic ranged AoE and provides a fire field. Also has an immobilize and blind.
GS: Jack of all trades. Highest direct damage, great AoE, High mobility, and best burst with an evasion attached to the skill.
Warhorn.
If you’re close enough to your opponent and blow it, you can scare the crap out of them and they’ll run away like scared little babies
Even more manly you say?
No weapon, just shout.
What’s more scarier than a jacked dude covered in heavy armor shouting “FOR GREAT kittenING JUSTICE” in your face?
Or what if an overgrown, big freaking kitty (char) with long fangs walks up to you and shouts “FEAR ME!”
I would poop my pants.
