Just wondering how I can get the most damage out of the hammer. Is it better to stack power or crit? Best sigils to use etc. Since the overall damage isn’t very good I want to try to get the most out of it that I can.

I run with Axe/shield as my second set for the burst damage.

Really depends on the type of build you’re going for. If you’re doing havoc I would use a GS instead of a hammer for the extra mobility. For a frontline build you shouldn’t focus on maximizing damage.

If running two shout warrs using this build in the same party you have perma fury for 45% crit chance. The goal should actually be 30% crit chance before fury and keeping power as a primary stat on all your gear. The extra 5% crit can be made up from using Zerk/Zerk ascended trinkets instead of Zerk/Valk. However, I play on a T1 server so I prefer the extra vitality when fighting 80vs80 map fights.

The secondary sigil I use on my hammer is stamina. In a GvG, even with fast hands, I would use Energy/Energy however I find Stamina/Energy to be more useful outside of GvG fights.

The above post its fine for guild groups or zerging, probably not the best min max that I have ever seen with that build though. I have seen much better use of gear mixing to get 30% crit chance.

However thats not what the OP is asking for. He says he is running destroyer build so automatically we know he wants a roaming build or a DPS build for small fights.

Gear you want Zerker. Goal is 40% critchance. Mix Cavaliers in after you reach 40%. 60% with fury

Runes
Hoelbrak/Pack/Strength are all good.

Sigils Id use Intel in the hammer so you get Big Crits when you lock somone down. Hydromancy is good here and so is Fire or Air as well as energy of course.

GS use like Fire and Air or Bloodlust and energy

To get the most out of merciless hammer you combo it. It does more damage that way.

Back breaker and Fierce blow are your two big DPS skills. You want to land them while the enemy is stunned or knocked down. So to do MAX DPS on a single target. It might look somthing like this.

Swap weapons at full adrenaline and pro the intel sigil. Next three hits will crit.

Earthshaker/Backbreaker/Fierce Blow/stagering blow.

Swap

Rush/WWA etc

Now If you are full zerk that can 100 to zero most people. In just that combo.

I have only 30% base crit, but I do get to 2900 power without might stacks…. That, along with 212 crit damage is what gets you the best damage out of hammer, without completely forgoing survivability. Usually, you wont do more then 5 attacks while in hammer, three of them are now guarantueed crits.

It is not called sigil of intelligence because you get smarter from it, though. Expect your opponent to try even harder to make you miss when he sees the intelligence icon on your bar.

how about using ranger runes in www?

They work but I wouldn’t use them.

Hey there. I run sw/sh and hammer when I roam with guildys and although I do not have the highest power or crit dmg but the crit chance is pretty good. 0/4/6/0/4 furious speed blade master in arms dogged march malicious hammer and ci in defence and warriors sprint and dote in discipline trait. With 2500 power 46% crit chance and 205 crit dmg I still land 7-8k final thrust and 4-5k back breaker and #2 (forgot name) with knights mixed witb cav armor using hoelbrak runes and zerka trinks. Sw/sh have fire and air sigila for good as dmg and the hammer atm has battle/energy (energy is for raid/zerging mainly lol) 2950 armor too.

I run furious speed and warriors spirit mainly for mobility (I know they do not stack)

Thats with Gaurd stacks, Food sharpening stones and steak dinner 100 Power and Minor borderland bloodlust. With same traits as him. Thats with NO might stacks or bloodlust sigil stacks as he claims. If I use signet of rage I gots 2983 Power.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. It was a genuine question, though. If I count in power food and guard stacks it’s up to 2.7K with no borderland bloodlust and cav weapon and acc+backpack. With signet of might it’s 2.9K so I guess I didn’t think my Question through enough.

Who uses that except for duels its very situational. Thats why I said no way you can have 2900 Power without Buffs. However with buffs 3k is achievable if you use signet of might. Its NP to get 3k Power with might stacks though. And if you count signet of might which I didn’t than sure 2900 Power all day long with Food, Guard stacks, Borderland Bloodlust. MY point is I made my stats with 212 Crit damage and traits just like Cygnus did. And I had to go through all of these buffs to reash the theroectical number of power posted. So Ima say no not without buffs.

So given the fact that his crit chance is only 30% and mine is 44. I know that he is rocking a lot more Cav than I am. Which leads me to believe he has even less power IRL than I do.

Yes that is exactly what I am using except I have a zerker back instead of a cavaliers.

I am also going to use Burst Mastery I think. The adrenaline nerf can be somewhat countered by using it, and leg specialist was always a good trait to use with GS/Hammer (so 0/0/6/2/6). In fact, I think using sigil of intelligence will become more popular allround on hammer builds post-patch.

I am using both bloodlust sigil and sigil of impact, yes. I want my hammer burst to hit as hard as it possibly can, without having to go full zerk. Sigil of bloodlust is kind of mandatory on any warrior WvW roaming build IMO. It is 250 easily obtained power for both weapon sets. On a 2500 power build, that is a flat 10% damage increase.

Impact just has nice synegry with Merciless Hammer. If you find you need less damage and more survivability, Sigil of Energy is also incredibly potent.

Sigil of Air/Fire don’t make the cut on this build IMO, at least not on hammer. In one rotation, 10% damage increase far outways a single fire proc. Sure, fire is a little more reliable if your opponent stunbreaks or has stability, but this build focusses on maximizing damage when the rotation hits.

You could put bloodlust and impact on the hammer, then get Fire/Air on GS. You lose out on might stacking with sigil of battle (6-9 stacks continuously after ~10 seconds of fighting). Fire+Air is a very potent combination. I would use it, but again, the aim of this build is to burst with hammer, and get a little sustained DPS from GS. The loss of Sigil of Intelligence would be what really hurts my build.

Just my two cents.

I’ve been in those same rounds as you, the sigils is what keeps me busy right now. I’m a control freak. I want to know what’s happening when I do something. Which is why I never use swap sigils on both sets. I have a knights hammer that I will prolly use, it evens out my stats and makes up for the lost prec from the traits. On that I have Impact and intelligence, but I want to know it’s gonna proc every time so I’ll have to drop energy on second set. There’s really nothing to make up for an energy sigil so I’d have to go in another direction. Mobility is great anyway so might just go Bloodlust stacks instead. Which I havn’t since after the last nerf to it.

Yeah I know, but I want the impact on Hammer.

To maximize hammer damage in wvw you should always go power as main stat. Then, you adjust your secondary stats/sigils/traits/runes on how you and/or your team plays.
