So I was just doing some math using a Guardian’s bunker build with 2578 armor as the target and a standard power warrior as my attacker. Using the damage calculation found on the wiki I got that basic attacks against the bunker guardian would do 590 damage with the power build.
I then replaced all the trait lines of power with Discipline and got 461 damage per hit. Say the Guardian has 5 boons on him that will boost damage to 530 per hit.
Yes this is an extreme example of power vs boon hate but I think that boon hate is currently too week to be worth the 30 points in discipline.
If you do happen to have 30 points in strength and discipline your basic damage would be boosted to 678.
Don’t forget the running regen.
Don’t many GS builds already do 20 in Discipline for Fast Hands (15) and Mobile Strikes (20)? So really, the trade-off isn’t that bad. The main problem with Discipline is that Brawn is so terrible.
Brawn IS terrible. Maybe if the stats are not +3% burst damage and crit strike which loses effectiveness on any build not stacking on crit chance, the trait would be better. For now, it’s just not worth it. There’s already so many more options without a crappy trait line:
1) Arms, 25 pts gives almost a nonstop +10% damage
2) Arms 20 has Forceful Greatsword.
2) Strength 10, +11% damage
3) Strength 20, flat 10% dmg for GS, or 10% crit dmg for axe, or 5% dmg
4) Strength 25 gives a flat 3% damage
Also, Discipline 25 is worthless. 1 stack of short-lasting might on swap. I don’t think the boon hate trait’s the problem, it’s just Brawn sucks.
Quit to play my 2 favorite competitive fps and moba games ported to my favorite OS.

When I was looking at this, i figured out what my base traits i need:
10 Strength (Berserker Power)
20 Defense (Dogged + Last stand)
20 Disc. (Signet Mastery + Heightened)
Based on this, 25 into arms was basically not an option and I looked at what other choices I had:
10/10/20/0/30
10/20/20/0/20
20/0/20/0/30
20/10/20/0/20/
10/0/30/0/30/
20/0/30/0/20/
Most of these additional traits points would go into trying to maximize effective power. In the end, I found that actually:
20/0/20/0/30/ seems to have the highest effective power, assuming your target has a minimum of 3 boons (9% damage)
With this setup you can keep your effective power around 5k – 5.2k (depending on GS or Axe) while having around 2.8k armor.
In order to account for the new trait, just enter damage multplier 9 into additional field.
Some additional stats (with GS)
1 boon: 4.9k EP
2 boon: 5.0k EP
3 boon: 5.2k EP
4 boon: 5.3k EP
5 boon: 5.5k EP
6 boon: 5.6k EP
Also additional things to note:
If you use either signet of might or fury, the effective power immediately jumps to around 5.6k EHP. Therefore it could be worth sacrificing a utility slot for it (I’m currently running Balanced Stance, Signet of Stamina and Endure Pain. Potentially I could give up Endure Pain, but running with 1 stun break feels a bit fragile)

I agree. I’ve tested the new boon hate trait for 3 or 4 hours, and it’s not worth the points we have to spend to get it.
For instance, a 20/30/0/0/20 build is much more efficient than a 20/20/0/0/30 build.
