Build Diversity! (not)
Hello,
To me, the warrior favoring the longbow, and to a lesser extent the hammer, simply comes from the nature of the Conquest game. Both weapons provide area control, which are ideal for node control, especially with such a tanky class as the warrior. While the patch may favor some weapons over other, I believe that the game mode itself dictates such choices.
I’ve been playing a few PvP games yesterday:
- The adrenaline disappearing after a missed burst was never a problem. I was using Burst Mastery, and could find myself refilling the adrenaline bar fast enough in regards of most situations (also considering burst CDs, which already activated pre-patch in you missed your burst).
- The adrenaline decay is more troubling. That it decays is fine, that it decays that fast is annoying but manageable, that it decays because the opponent managed to kite you out of combat, then coming back in a matters of a few seconds, is definitely an issue, borderline a bug with the combat mechanics.
Regards.
They should simply put a 5-10 second timer before the adrenaline decays.
Since the update, the hambow build is almost the only alternative for sPvP now. It is the only build who hasn’t been touched by these class changes (rather oddly I must say, for Anet seems to be doing the updates depending on how loud the whiners whine and to the best of my knowledge, hambow was the target of many of them. Weird…).

As Anet pointed out (I think it was in a staff memo or something, or at least that’s what the poster tried to present it as?), a very small portion of the playerbase uses or frequents the forums. This portion of the playerbase is, by and large, the portion that is unhappy, and has decided to make itself heard. As most players will never post on the forums at all, they use some other method to determine what to do.

Agreed with everything.

That’s interesting indeed. I didn’t see that message from Anet… Well anyway, I’d like to give a toast to this “small portion” : if you’re trying to slowly destroy the game, you’re on the right track !
I myself have always adapted to the game change (you know, since it’s just a game to kill time for me, as for many others I guess) but with this way of managing things, they should be happy that they’re still a bit competitive in the MMORPG world (meaning still having players)…
yesterday i was fighting in wvw with my warrior. at some point we killed a few enemies in front of a heavily defended gate and started preparing the assault, the usual jazz: clear cannons, oils, guards, build up rams and some arrowcart to target the treb behind the door…
well what do you know, the moment my warrior stopped being hit for like a second all my adrenaline was gone. did i REALLY get so used to explosions, arrows flying 2 cm off my head and destruction all around that i couldn’t even keep some adrenaline pumping despite having maybe a few dozens arrows in my back from an arrow cart moments earlier?

I tested out axe/sword/lb and axe/shield/lb and axe/shield/lb seemed to work okay.
I’ve also been using signet of might to help lower the odds of having my burst skills being blocked. I think it’s surprised more than a few guardians who aren’t used to seeing it.
So yeah, I disagree that hambow is our only build left.
Do I like the changes? Hell no. Am I working around them. Yes. But not without many complaints along the way.

I feel the same way.
And I didn’t mean hambow is our only viable build in sPvP (I admit I didn’t manage to make myself quite clear though, my mistake) but it is the only one which mechanics weren’t impacted by those changes. Celestial axe/sword build is still really good yes, but it is a dueling spec and I feel like the adrenaline build up is quite slow now (at least too slow for my taste).
It might just be me, but the fact that you have to wait slightly longer to get access to eviscerate combined with the fact that the odds of you actually landing the hit are lower due to the loss of adrenaline in case you fail (which is, again, fine by me), put you more at a disadvantage than before.
Anyway, I think I’m just super frustrated not being able to effectively use my GS anymore
They just made all adrenaline filling skills such as healing surge and signet of fury so much more useless ( they were already useless)
because you can’t charge adrenaline pre fight. you have to touch the enemy 1st or else you lose them adrenaline, what a shame.
