Building my warrior.
I’m currently using a 0/0/30/30/10 shout build. I use hammer + sword/shield most of the time, but i often swap weapons. When moving around in WvW i equip a warhorn, rather than a shield. If i foresee a tanky situation coming up, i’ll equip a mace, rather than a sword. I often swap my utility skills around, equipping endure pain and stability when I’m going to need to take a lot of damage. This makes your 6/6 runes somewhat pointless for a brief moment, but it is often worth it.
You should pick up Rune of the soldier. Its + vitality and + toughness, and the 6 slot bonus makes all of your shouts cure a condition, so SIO removes 2 conditions.
Also, good choice on the Knight’s gear.
agree with above poster with only 1 change: just use endure pain and NOT a stability stance (stick with 2 shouts), instead try out the turtles defense trait in the defense line… suddenly cripple effects (which you always have) become a boon instead of a condition
its just too bad we cant tell the game which condition we want our abilities to remove.
But won’t I lose a kittenload of damage resource by doing that? I mean the runes sound neat, I sort of need that tankiness in me but the traits.. It seems like you don’t have any precision/power at all, and for the build mentioned isn’t cleric gear better?
mmm… i’ve had success with glass cannon warrior myself in WvWvW. Unfortunately, it requires playing almost like a thief. Hardly something you’d want to do as a commander!
I myself use full knight’s on armor and jewels with berserker’s weapons. Axe+mace and either sword+shield or rifle for weapons. Bull’s charge, endure pain, and frenzy for traits.
anyways..
1: runes. Up to you. I personally think your best bet would be divinity. I’m too cheap so i use ruby orbs instead. Soldier’s would definitely be the best if you used shouts, but you probably won’t get many kills without a utility skill build revolving around frenzy.
2. traits. auto balanced stance is amazing for builds that don’t have it on their utility skill bar. auto endure pain is nice too, even with endure pain on your bar. So 20 or 30 in defense, and the rest of your traits go into the typical DPS traits.
3. Greatsword is absolutely amazing if you have the dps required to burn someone down with one frenzied hundred blades. The high mobility can get you out of combat and somewhere safe afterwards. If you lack that high damage like i do, then i would skip on the greatsword though. Try out the axe+mace, mace+mace, or hammer. The knockdown makes up for the lack of DPS by giving you more free time to pummel your enemy before they get a chance to escape. Sword+shield is a good secondary set due to the high mobility+shield stance. Rifle is also a good secondary set for obvious reasons.
