Builds/Armor choices Post-Patch
its pretty simple: the only viable warrior build (talking tanky melee) that could solo camps easily, destroy 3-5 upscaleds, be a general beast in dungeons/wvw but NOT spvp is GONE FOR GOOD. now we can have a closer look at all those 2nd hand crap builds that didnt use omnom because they are our only choice now. a lot more builds and options available.. but all of them are completely WEAK measured against the old omnomberry-warrior.

you should build your toon to make it strong and not have any for no reason madeup rules like “dont build around consumable” just to pass some blame, tyvm. aslong as you are the one going flat in a duel my build choice is right, end of story.
1. Yes, I doubt that there will be people playing in full zerker armor. I won’t be doing it anymore, because I run level 35+ fractals.
2. I’m thinking about going P/V/T gear now, along with knight/berzeker accesoires (depends on sustain with just P/V/T gear) and 10/30/30/0/0 or 10/30/0/30 traits. Will do some theorycrafting later to see which is the best solution. I’m not really that good in creating builds, so I will definately keep a close eye on the forums to see what builds other people create.
3. No idea really, probably precision/crit food.
If anything you should blame yourself for not building to be effective without food. Consumables are icing on the cake, not the cake.
I will keep going with full glass GS + Axe/X, with Omnomberry Ghosts.
Lupicus was still very easy.

i build for killing power, not for metaphysics.

Is P/V/T a good option? I always thought that vitality was wasted on warriors.
I have a full set of Knight and Berserker’s that I used to swap between… recently I"ve been running full Knight and Cavalier accessories all w/ ruby haha
Cool, thanks for your input!

Build;
20/30/20/0/0
That build offers many options when its comes to weapon choice, traits also depends on them
Utilities:
Healing signet, endure pain, balance stance, signet of stamina, and naturally signet of rage
Gear:
Armor:
Basically chest, legs and helm are knight, rest is zerk
Weapons: PTV
Trinkets: Ascended promotes zerk, so i use em, i decided to pick up the rings with 17 vit tho, always helping a bit with ptv weps.
Runes: 6x forge, protection helps really much.
Sigils: Generosity, purity for melees weps, blood for ranged
Boost:
Oil
Outdated omno pie
25 prec stack
Even after nerf i still do fine, naturally i cant stay in melee range as long as i used to be, but its not that bad yet.
20k hp, 3,2k attack, nearly close to 3k defense, 46% crit dmg, 73% crit chance using boosts (without fury) and 50% without any boost while using gs with a lil condition removal from sigil, and protection that tells u when to move back
Thats hows its looks, works pretty well for me.

Hey, cool setup!
A lot beefier than I would ever go, but still, nice!
Do you find the extra vitality useful? I thought the natural HP pool of warrior was enough?
Also, does anyone know the max boon duration warriors can achieve?
If I’m not mistaken, it is 30% from traits and 45% from runes, right?
I ran my daily frac 30 with my usual 20/20/0/10/20 build, full zerk w/ cavalier trinkets, boon runes, omnom pies… worked as usual.
Well-timed EP/Surge plus 344hp/s kept me alive as usual.
If your build only worked with uncapped food then it was a really bad build, or… a bad player.
Builds:
Rifle Warrior.
Shout Warrior.
Banner Warrior.
Pick one, the two most common require 30 points in Vitality.
Also, to the above poster, anyone can run CoF without food or anything, it is an easy dungeon.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Yea i did, i ended much many times with about 1,5k hp left that comes from extra vit.

What boon runes?
Monk/Water/other for the boon duration increase?
No need for the second part man, we’re trying to avoid all altercations here.

I would like to weigh in on the heavy-handed crit food nerf and address this statement directly. First of all, it is no one’s business HOW I build my character. My methodology is no better than yours and vice versa. In a game that promotes itself as “play the game your way”, I am seeing an increasingly dictatorial approach to these senseless nerfs without any accompanying corrective action to re-balance glaring deficits in game mechanics. I am speaking specifically about toughness/armor.
The over-reliance on pies/ghosts is a direct outgrowth of the poor job that toughness does in mitigating damage, especially in challenging end-game content where the trash mobs can hit you harder than the boss itself.
Because toughness does not not mitigate damage in a linear fashion, not only is it futile to invest in an armor value above 2800, but a single mistake in melee can render you one-shotted and kissing dirt. I know some extremely capable, non-glass warriors that used pies/ghosts as an equalizer, not as a crutch, because… shock and surprise… they like to melee.
So what we had pre-nerf is a melee profession trying to exist in an already melee- unfriendly game environment due to poorly-conceived damage mitigation formulae. Ergo, the over-reliance on lifesteal food as a method of offsetting such deficits.
This nerf is a VERY big deal with far reaching consequences, more than the naysayers realize, and not to just warriors. What of the melee builds in the scholar professions? My melee necromancer was quite viable thanks to lifesteal food, and definitely not OP in any sense. In fact, he is squishy as hell. I could not simply face tank and the pies would “magically” refill my health pool upon crit. It was still VERY dangerous for a lightly armored toon to melee even with crit food. Now, I will most likely shelve my necro indefinitely because I refuse to change to a range-only build. Why? Because to me, range only builds are not fun. So much for “play the game your way”…
I cannot express how fortunate I am that I rolled a guardian recently. I believe it is the most inspired and intelligently developed profession in the game. And guess what? I do not use lifesteal food with him because he does not need it as the guardian is a well-conceived and balanced profession.
Note: edited for grammar and clarity.

How do you handle 35+ Fractals with a double melee set?
Thanks for your input~

I have been just in F30. Then I stopped because it was still so boringly easy (and I don’t like Agony at all).
But if it gets too tough I can always swap to ranged and faceroll at range.
In response to the aggro issue, I run a mix of knights and beserkers. In dungeons I find that everyone aggros on me. It’s very difficult to stay alive, especially since they nerfed the food.

Wait… that makes no sense lol..
You stopped going further into Fractals because the earlier levels were too easy?
Sigh, I wish there was a good melee alternative to stick too even when things get sticky lol.. I’m seeing some of the Guardian builds and wow…

That’s not what I was asking about xD
Someone said that running full Knight’s was a curse because of aggro.
What does that mean…?
That you have to run full Knight or that Knight’s causes more aggro? xD
I run full Knight regardless

I just had huge expectations for F30. All that grinding, and then it was just same. Lost all my motivation for Fractals. Then I decided to kill Lupicus instead.

I started testing a similar setup: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8|7.1g.h1.7.1g.h4|0.0.0.0.0.0|1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7|2v.d19.1i.67.1i.67.1i.67.1i.67.1i.67|k58.u15b.k68.0.0|2e.1|e
Utilities:
1. Healing Signet
2. FGJ
3. SIO
4. Signet of Might
5. Signet of Rage
Basically what this does is it gives me almost 35% damage reduction while still keeping a fairly hard hitting build. On tougher fights you could still use omnom pie/ghosts to suppliment the regen. I chose to use signets again to bring my loss of crit chance back up to 50% before fury (bringing it to 70%). I feel it’s a good trade off, but still testing so any feedback is appreciated.

So other warriors that have yet to comment, what are you guys doing?
Curious.
Also, who is honestly re-rolling to Guardian?
Not going to lie, I regret choosing Warrior over Guardian when I started, but I’ve invested too much in my Warrior to quit so I’ll be hoping for some good patches in the future~

Its too bad Warriors don’t have Protection and Regeneration, like most of the other classes do, its like having an extra set of armor.

You’re sure you want to reroll to guardian and do 3x less damage?
You’re sure you want to reroll to guardian and do 3x less damage?
More like 10-15% less damage, but they make up for it in big ways.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
The build you posted previously won’t even do 33% of your old warrior build. Even in full zerker and standard 0/15/30/20/10 you do about 66% of good ol’ zerker warrior build.
We’re talking about damage and you’re saying something about toughness.
I don’t know if you are a troll or a court jester.

Yours is getting into the bunker area at that point. I am trying to get a few more hits in before I have to disengage to regen some hp. If you look at my build the effective power is still at 5300, where yours drops it ~4200 but gains significant damage reduction. The trade-off of your build is far too great from a damage perspective for my taste. I do like your setup though.

Your previous post said you had 30 in the toughness tree.

Well we can’t have everything, i tried to balance my build between dps and tanking, i just got 1 problem – lack of tools.
I’ve said that standard dps build is 0/15/30/20/5.
So, do you guys prefer Knight or Berserker?
So, do you guys prefer Knight or Berserker?
I’m still undecided. Currently testing with the same gear I used for my pre-patch build. Seems to be working so far. Pre-patch armor was zerker w/ ruby orbs, cavalier trinkets w/ ruby orbs, and zerker weapons. See my post above with the build I am currently testing.
Consumables are icing on the cake, not the cake.
Icing is part of the cake as a whole; food is a part of a build, not any different from trinkets, traits, weapons and armor, I don’t see why you make an arbitrary distinction.
As for the topic, I run 20/30/0/0/20 with berserker gear with a few pieces of knight/cavalier, with precision oil and omnomberry pie. I’m not changing anything with my build, but I’ll have to play less aggressively =\.
I’m still gonna use my Greatsword/Hammer build. Might change from Knight’s armor to Berserker’s because according to the buildcraft site I’m only gaining 5% damage reduction with it.
It’s 20/25/0/0/25. Sigil of Battle on the Greatsword, ____ on the Hammer. Runes of the Soldier. Cavalier Jewelery with Ruby orbs.
Utilities are, preferred heal, For Great Justice, OMM or SIO, Endure Pain, Signet of Rage or Battle Standard
