Burst abilities do you use them?
Sometimes.
I sometimes use the sword´s burstskill, because of the utility,
but I never use the greatsword burst skill.
Most of the time i try to avoid any burstskill, because
they seem rather weak compared to the adrenalin benefits,
which traits like berserker´s power grant.
My build is based around the sword’s burst skill, at least the offensive bits. I’m specced 0/30/0/30/10, basically the Yojack warhorn spec, but with talents for extra adrenaline from crits and from shouts. Flurry is an excellent skill. My switch weapon is either rifle or longbow, both of which also have excellent bursts.
With a sword, plan b is basically autoattack until it dies. That’s not exciting
Ratbag Dogsticker (Guardian)
…Yak’s Bend
Using a build centered around Killshot (rifle burst skill). With Berserker’s Stance and Signet of Fury I’ve got a steady supply of Adrenalin to waste.
Sword burst is decent too with it’s DoTs.
If you’re into longbow, obviously you’re aiming on using that burst skill.
I’m sure many people use Eviscerate on Axe for extra dmg.
While the passive improvements of having extra Adrenalin are useful, I’m sure there’s more than enough builds/playstyles focused on using their burst

Skull Crack, Kill Shot, Flurry, Eviscerate to a certain extent even though it still needs a buff, Arcing Slice if I have to escape cause I need endurance at the last second.
Flurry is amazing.
Hammer: This is one is amazing. ‘nuff said.
Mace: Got some nice utility.
Sword: Awesome due to it’s utility.
Axe: Very, very nice damage.
Greatsword: Not worth the Adrenaline.
Rifle: Same as axe, just not as quick to fire.
Longbow: I guess it is alright if you’re a Condition build.
Do you even lift, bro?
I run Hammer and Sword, I use the Hammer everytime its up, sword is mostly accidental (when fast hands bugs and I hit weapon swap then burst only to find no weapon swap) but lately I’ve been using it more just for the root and swapping out to hammer rather than let the flurry hits go.

depends on the weapon. I generally never use the axe or gs burst skills.
The others are useful in their niche’s
Longbow: I guess it is alright if you’re a Condition build
Even without a condition build it’s pretty kitten useful. It’s our only combo starter, very nice for putting up flame shields and AoE mights. Plus combined with HB, WW, and GS 1 is some very nice AoE damage. Not to mention you can cast it on the run as well. Overall I have to say this my favorite burst ability, although Eviserate and the Hammer one come pretty close

^what this guy says
+ longbow is a firefield that gives your team 3 stacks of might if you blast finish into it. (bow3 is blast finisher)
I use it all the time. Not using it would result in less button to push = less things to do = less fun.
I run Sword/axe with Longbow.
I time burst and axe5 with shouts and buffs to dish out aoe damage.
I keep Longbowburst on CD if everything else is on CD or i cant melee. Creating a firefield not only applies damage, it is a combo for everyone and you can easily abuse t to generate mightstacks. Bow 3 into a firefield does some nice damage too.
When I got all the gear I want I am going to respec to dual axe but with that built you will generate adenalin so quickly that you wont miss it much.
Adrenal health and all thos “high Adrenalin” traits are poor design imo. Instead they should stuff like "applies boon when using a burst (time or stacks depending on amount used) and adrenal health should be changed to “heal X after using burstskills” to actually encourage people to use adrenalin and treat it like the ressource it was ment to be.
This is actually a fine exsample of why Warriors are the most balanced and most finished class in this game. Building and spending adrenaline as fast as possible as well as trying to keep it full at all times are both perfectly valid options, what’s better for you and your build depends on your choices.
Just the way it’s supposed to be.

And it pulses direct damage (that can crit) in a massive radius.
I use Hammer and Longbow. I use Inspiring Shouts and Adrenal Reserves to keep my Adrenaline up. I’ll shoot the Longbow burst at level 3, swap weapons and fire off the Hammer burst at level 1 and then top off my adrenaline with a shout.

I kind of gotta disagree. At least for PvE, most of the times its not worth it to use you’re adren if you have heightened focus/berserker’s power. Burst skills are more useful in PvP where the additional effects matter (stun on hammer/mace and snare on sword) The gs and axe ones are basically never good, pve or pvp since the pure damage from the skill does not offset the subsequent loss in damage afterwards.
Bursts in PvE are really good imho, i use them all the time.
Not playing GS or adrenaline reliant traits, but understand where the objection comes from. Passive damage increases are neat, but i like to place fields with the bow, or bleed things to death with my sword.
I agree with Blurps that the way it works is really balanced, you can trait to stock adrenaline, or to build as fast as possible, up to the playstyle

With the right traits or even just berserker stance, you can be back up to 2/3 adrenaline bars before the animation of the burst is done. For sword, the burst alone will give you back around 2 bars, and if you use get fury beforehand its closer to 2.4-2.5 bars of adrenaline.
i use longbow burst>arcing shot>sword leap in dungeons alot
longbow burst>longbow 5>sword leap works decently in pvp (although i VERY VERY rarely PvP)
combustion shot also is quite a large AOE, making it very useful in WvW
i use flurry when i gain quickness (from hitting an enemy below 25% health) or so i gain quickness partway through the animation
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
Long bow burst is pretty deadly on a condition build. When two or more enemies are bunched up, I fire burst into it, followed by 3. I gain might, jump into it with my sword. Even the ones I don’t hit with the sword usually dies or is almost dead by the time the burn effect wears off. PvE.

Gotta disagree with this a bit. I do agree that with a GS, you probably should never use the burst skill, since the damage is quite low. However, high damage burst skills like Eviscerate and Kill Shot have their own uses in PvP, mostly as a finisher (as you said, you lose some damage afterwards, so it’s never a good idea to open with either skill). If you’re confident in the damage that you output with Eviscerate or Kill Shot, once they get to that threshold of health where you can either down them with one burst or get them quite low, then that burst skill is very useful to stop them in their tracks. Of course, you gotta actually land a kill shot for this to apply, but eviscerate damage isn’t anything to be sniffed at either, and it’s quicker to execute.
Quaggan may or may not like you ~

You’re confirming what I said actually.
If you build for the various boni at full adrenaline, using the burst skills will usually not be desirable except for the ones that can completely change the course of the fight. The traits support your choice to go for these boni very well and that translates into a slightly altered but equally viable playstyle.
Working as intended and exactly my point.

In dungeons, longbow burst is wonderful. The might stacks on your whole group from blast finishers far outweigh slight personal dps loss. Mace is also nice for locking down targets that aren’t being focused yet.
PvP wise, greatsword is the only weapon whose burst skill I don’t use of the weapons I use regularly (both mace and axe are great). Burst damage and CC are the useful things that warriors do in PvP. If I wanted sustained DPS, I’d play a thief or a guardian.
In PvE I usually Eviscerate if there is combo-field and some distance or if I have Surge ready. Or just because I can.
I even use GS burst skill if desperately need Endurance.
