Beniee – Ranger – Level 80
Deathclaw Ragefist – Necromancer – Level 80
(edited by Benie.9312)
I was told by several sources, to make my second character a Warrior (as it’s an “easy” class to learn). So I made a Charr Warrior.
Since hitting Level 15 and on, I’ve been having a lot of issues keeping myself alive. My health just goes down too quickly.
I asked for advice ingame on what to go for, to PvE solo as a Warrior. I was told to basically do the same build as my Ranger; with Power being primary, and Precision/Ferocity as secondary. This doesn’t seem to be the case, especially for one Heart quest in Diessa Plateau. The ‘Help Blood Legion combat ghost siege weapons" one.
I died three times doing that thing. I wanted to so badly just rush in there and take down those catapults. But, them and the ghosts just feel too kitten OP. When I said how this was unsoloable, others claim they did it.
I did finally pull that quest off, though. But still, dying three times. That’s bad. Aren’t Warriors supposed to handle pretty much anything (being a Tank)? Why do I feel so.. squishy?
Even when doing my Level 20 Personal Story quest, I went down so many times due to being overwhelmed, or taking too much damage. It should not be this hard, this early in the game. There’s got to be something I’m doing wrong. If it’s my rotation, my choice of weapons, or my choice of skills… I don’t know. I just go down too freakin’ easy.
Maybe it’s the fact I’m used to having a pet as a Ranger, and it soaking up all the damage so I won’t have to.
I thought about just focusing my gear in Vitality and Toughness, to keep me alive longer. Yet that also will hurt my DPS.
ANY helpful advice would be great.

axe/shield greatsword. healing sig, dolyak signet, endure pain, sig of stamina.
run those and dodge things. as passives the signets give your more hp rgn, more armour, and more dodges. never use healing signet, but do use the other two when you need them. warrior was my first 80, but i did it in PvE over 2 years ago. keeping mobile and using endure pain, the shield block, and greatsword’s whirlwind (its an evade) at the right time will keep you alive. also, if you find you need burst healing use healing surge but only activate it at three bars.
Ok. Thanks. This was very helpful.
Are you sure the issue is unique to warrior? Maybe you are just used to pet tanking. My advice is to pick your battles, if you are lvl 14, you items lvl 10 and you run into three lvl 17 mobs, then you deserve what is coming your way.

Healing Surge and Healing Signet both have it’s advantages. Signet of Fury is something that never leaves your bar, if you have trouble solo take two defensive utilities out of the following: Shake it Off, Balanced Stance, Endure Pain, Dolyak Signet, Signet of Stamina.
Most people take just one defensive utility and that is Shake it Off, because it’s very versatile, condition cleanse and stun break both in one. If you take two I would recommend dolyak / stamina.
Is the signet build with Deep Strike still a thing? That used to be a dynamite way for warriors to get ridiculously high crit chances while leveling.
Having Dolyaks would help toughness, and the killing power would probably help whittle down the mobs so they aren’t such a threat.
Hi Benie,
I just levelled a warrior to 80 and ‘tanky’ is definitely not how I’d describe them. You may hit like a two ton truck, but your own survival is directly related to how well you can dodge, especially below level 30. If you’re looking for a tanky character, I suggest levelling a Guardian.
What level is your Warrior now? I see advice to equip Signet of Rage, but that’s an elite skill that only unlocks at level 31, i believe. Until then, I support the suggestions to take Signet of Dolyak for the extra toughness on passive. Many choose to take ‘Balanced Stance’ because of its shorter cooldown, but that doesn’t give you the +180 toughness. I’d recommend SoD until you’ve mastered the game mechanics and nailed down your Warrior game play.
For your other utilities, I’d suggest taking ‘For Great Justice’ for the extra might and ‘Shake It Off’ to get you out of those sticky situations you tend to find yourself in. SIO is an amazing cleanse+stun breaker on a remarklably short cooldown.
When I was levelling, I tried different rotations based on other players’ recommendations, but you really just need to try a few because everyone’s play style is different. Most stuff is common sense, anyhow. Lead with weapons skills that deal vulnerability or condition damage, then follow up with your hard-hitters. Swap between your weapon sets while your skills are on cooldown.
Just remember to keep moving in combat. You cannot affort to stay rooted in one spot and just take the hits. Try to flank your enemy or get behind them since PvE baddies tend to aim their attacks at whatever is directly in front of them. Most telegraph their attacks before they hit so you can dodge out of the way.
For your gear, you can go a couple of different ways. Most choose Berserker gear combined with weapons and trinkets that maximise damage + precision, but I personally think that’s not the best option if you’re still levelling.
You could choose to go for vit+toughness armour and combine with Berserker (ruby) trinkets but as you’ve seen yourself, you sacrifice dps. In my personal opinion, it’s worth it. You might have the potential to deal max damage, but if you die before you can deliver that damage it’s no good to you.
hey guys wassup?
I’m pretty new to this game..I just started with a warrior and im at lvl 12
I was wondering if the warrior class is competitive in WvW?
also I was wondering if it’s worth playing a dual wield warrior?
