Critical vs Precision
All things considered assuming no previous gear investment in either route? Precision, by a mile. While the game isn’t the most clear, what you’re referencing is the comparison of Precision (aka +Crit Chance) with +Crit Damage.
A standard Critical basically multiplies your standard damage by 1.50 (to represent a +50% damage increase). Without any kind of Precision or buffs (like Fury or the T1 Discipline trait), your natural Crit Chance will be something low around 2-4% of the time. To increase the base chance of a Critical, people use Precision (which only increases your Crit Chance and doesn’t affect your Crit Damage).
Now once you’ve got your Crit Chance rate at a level that you find acceptable, then you can start to slide in some +Crit Damage into the mix. Yet at the same time, you always need to push your Crit Chance as high as possible. I’d always take a guaranteed and predictable 50% Crit Chance rate at a 1.50 damage multiplier over some like a 20% Crit Chance rate with a 2.50 damage multiplier. Those mega damage spikes in the 2nd scenerio might look impressive, but they will only happen rarely and may not even come when you need them too.
I’m currently running a 20/30/0/0/30 glass cannon build.
I’m aiming for 50% Crit Chance from the build and gear. After that I’m going to upgrade equipment for more Power & Crit Damage while aiming to keep a minimum of 50% Crit Chance.
Between Signet of Rage and For Great Justice I can keep up Fury (+20% Crit Chance) a fair amount of time during my fights.

20+30+30= 80…
I assume you use 10/30/0/0/30?
That’s what I use. too.

This with your armor socketed with ruby orbs and your jewlery socketed with exquisite rubys is the best you can get, get a total of 3,900 power around 80 something crit= consistently having your HB do 20k+, not really sure where else to squeeze the power. OH also run “On My Mark” “for great justice” “strength signet” “signet of rage”, keep every one of them up as much as possible.
This is the build I run for myself, which allows me to keep Swiftness, Fury, Regen, and 3 stacks up Might near permanently or permanently on my group if I use the 20% boon duration food. The added 90 Precision, and +10% crit damage is just icing on the cake for the group.
With full exotic Beserker’s gear I have 70% critical to hit all the time, and a very high bonus to crit damage.
80 Thief – 80 Warrior – 80 Guardian – 80 Ranger
80 Mesmer – 80 Necromancer
bezerker gear = power crit chance crit dmg
with warriors very high base hp u can go full zerker gear have 60% +crit chance and still have over 18k hp or mix in some valkyre and have 50% + and have over 20k hp
seeing as GS / rifle are direct dmg why worry.
