They are still very effective in PvE. Though that may change in the upcoming changes to how critical damage works, but that will affect all classes.
They are now more effective in PvP and WvW. Bunker/damage builds are the preffered in PvP. And in WvW Warriors are popular roamers, as well as good for organized groups when using a hammer for AoE stuns.
Check the forums a bit. Warriors are completely over the top now. Pretty common knowledge.
How are the in PvE?
Overpowered overpowered and oh did i mention overpowered yet?

>I can’t play anything else but warrior, because i’m really bad at this game and overpowered noob class warrior gives me the feeling that i’m actually a good player.
Cry me river you metal diapers are overpowered in any sense of the word.
You’re just afraid that Arenanet might actually listen and nerf the warrior so that this class actually would require a skilled player.
Warriors are significantly over powered at the moment. The key would be to make them, once again, extremely subject to condition damage with few ways to cleanse.

Remove the cleanse from cleansing ire. I only use it for the adrenaline gain anyway.

you too small world
imo wouldn’t it be better to place a icd on the cleanse while it would effect builds it would effect them much less warriors would still have some options with out the ability to abuse it.

We used to have that exact trait. It sucked. As did warrior.

Strongest class in the game . If you are are pretty poor at mmos/games it’s the class to pick as it’s pretty forgiving.
Be careful though, if you play it for long enough you’ll truly believe it’s you who are super skilled and not just the class you’re playing.
It’s easily the ‘strongest’ class in PvE, but you still need other things in your group for most of the harder instances, a la Guardians or Mesmers.
In WvW it’s good but hardly stupid. Good mobility, a potential for high tankiness or high burst, a potential for a strong condition damage build, plenty of built-in clenases – all pluses for WvW.
PvP is where it gets stupid again, but pretty much only because of bunker builds with Hammer and Longbow. Passive healing? Check. Lots of cleanses? Check. AoE fire fields that cover points? Check. Lots and lots of blast and projectile finishers? Check. Stuns out the kitten Check.
It’s a frustrating build to play against because of how strong it is at assaulting and defending points. Outside of that, class is pretty much average in PvP.
They are part of the meta in PvE. They deal reasonable damage, but are out-shined in this area by several other options (Thief, Mesmer, Ele). Every group should have at least one, because of the offensive support they bring (Banner of Disc & Strength).
——— The reason a lot of people call them “overpowered” for PvE is they are more forgiving than pretty much every other class (I’ve recently been playing a lot of my Ele, and what I used to just tickle my Warrior really puts my Ele at risk), and it’s a lot easier than other classes to pump out the higher DPS it can manage.
Warriors sit in a very strong PvP position, but are slowly on the decline (especially when the balance patch hits and conditions just become even more meta).
WvW Warriors are very valuable, sitting at the front of the melee train giving the enemy a stun sandwich. The Hammer is the “go-to” weapon for WvW as it packs a punch as has disables, although it attacks slowly so any blind spam is crippling to the Warrior.
Overall, Warriors are in an incredible place at the moment, a very valued asset regardless of the content you are doing.

Yes, that is the key to make them useless once again.
With the way things are seeming to go concerning stats. It seems like going full condition will be the only way to stay effective. Taking away condition removal, with the upcoming nerf to damage builds, would make warriors pretty much worse than Ranger or Elementalist. Now if we were to balance conditions across all classes, and not nerf raw damage, AND if condition cleansing was nerfed a bit on warrior. that would be ok. But when I say it would be ok I should also say that this would need to be tested.
Ya cleansing Ire used to be a trait called embrace the pain. It wasn’t a bad trait however I don’t remember it recovering as much adrenaline as it does now. And a trait just to get adrenaline on hit seemed kinda pointless since gaining adrenaline isn’t hard without it. If thats all it did we wouldn’t need it.

In PVE warrior is strong. IN pvp warrior is good in groups. In 1v1s warrior is not OP. Put a bunch of warriors together in the same group you get OP by themselves not so much.

Current state of the warrior. by Warlord.
ANET has forced warriors into pure specs. Meaning pure DPS or pure defense base to be viable in one or the other. If you are new to warriors or are not familiar with them than this sounds silly. However most of warriors damage traits were moved to 30 point investments or 20 points. With the exception of off hand training and crackshot a 5% trait that only works with some off hand weapons and a rifle trait that doesn’t boost damage per se it just reduces cool downs.
In exchange for an across the board damage nerf we received more sustain. Healing sig buff, adrenal healing buff, dogged march, cleansing Ire buffs to mending and healing surge.
Afterwards we recieved a few Weapon fixes/buffs A mace stun buff, a Sword buff, and a smoothing of our hammer skills so they worked better.
Afterwards ANET felt the need to nerf our CC and damage some more, we recieved a mace nerf, a hammer nerf, a longbow nerf and an Axe nerf.
By in large some of the utilities we have were buffed the stances and signets.
Now anet is talking about a healing sig nerf and a nerf to crit damage. So now that everything is said and done with I feel it is safe to say warrior has recieved more nerfs than it has recieved buffs. If you have been following warriors all a long you understand this. If you are a noob that likes to make QQ posts you wont.
When everything is said and done with coming the next big balance patch warriors will be in worst shape than they were before ANET decided to overhaul this class because of the power creep they did to the other professions and meanwhile they would have significantly buffed other professions that didn’t need buffed guardians for example all while nerfing warriors more than they buffed them becasue they rolled back the buffs they gave them while keeping in place the nerfs they gave them due to the buffs they gave them that are no longer buffs anymore.

Ha. Guardians lost 5k HP from the beta to the final release of the game (fair, was needed for balance), then they get a nerf in Vigorous Precision (cooldown from 1 second to 5), a nerf in the Spirit Weapons, a nerf in Pure of Voice and now a new nerf in VP again (from 5 to 10 seconds in the cooldown). Meanwhile ANet buffed skills and traits that no Guardian uses at all (Glacial Heart, Healing Breeze… ).
The only relevant buff Guardians get since the game release was the increase in the projectile speed in Scepter and making the meditations instant (changes which only affects a niche builds in roaming and PvP). So stop to moan: at least you have viable builds in every spect of the game and usefull builds in the current meta based on conditions.
In PvE warriors are wanted in all sorts of content for the banners we bring as well as us being 2nd Tier DPS, having 1-2 a group is not a bad thing.
In WvW we have a variety of builds to go with, and are pretty much viable in all kinds of fights from Zerg v Zerg, Small Group fights and Roaming.
In PvP like many professions we are forced into a few viable builds, Hambow was the most effective one which will be getting a slight hit as well as our Healing Signet as well. I still see us as a threat, but Conditions are still going to be king.

Lol Warriors having to actually build damage OR defense? Power creep on other professions? Massively buffed Gaurdians? What game are you playing, ‘cause I think you’re on the wrong forums.

I know you have been around awhile so I find it interesting that you don’t see what I am saying here. So a little insite here the current meta that everyone complains about warriors were forced into. And the decisions that ANET made now not only effect warriors but are effecting every profession in the game.
Warriors went from OP in PVE to god mode because of ANETS decision to force warriors into pure builds. This is mainly the moving of Heightened focus and Berserkers Power to 30 point traits. But they didn’t just move them they buffed them to incentive warriors to go full glass. This is only a part of the power creep.
banner and signet buffs. etc etc.
Then along came the banner buffs the signet buffs, buffs to other traits that even boosted the warrior further in damage if they made all sacrifices for more damage.
Then they decided hey lets come out with some ascended gear to boost damage even higher. Which synergized perfectly with zerk warriors.
Warrior is not the only profession to have been beneficiary to the power creep and the steady buffing of other professions traits and weapon skills. But in PVE warriors were buffed and buffed then forced into Power builds.
Why is this bad? Its bad when it comes to PVP or WvW when a warrior is forced now not to build so much in to damage but to build more defensively or balanced. Since most of our damage traits or good traits to make decent damage while bulding tank were moved, and our our control skills and weapon skills have taken a hit, its only going to be a matter of time before warrior isn’t as viable in PVP as it was and it already is not. It will be at the bottom of the list as far as best pvp classes soon…
Because now the nerfs anet is coming out with to tone down thier mistakes with power creeps affect balanced and more defensive builds. So now if your going to want to build balanced or defensive in PVP or more importantly WvW good luck using control skills and doing damage. Which has now forced a lot of players and classes into a condition bunker meta.
The condition meta hurts warriors the most, as if it will turn out that lower power and even definsive builds that relied on CC and minmaxing of traits and stats to be optimal are no longer optimal because the skills, the traits, and the stats have all been moved, nerfed, or nerfed. That significantly weakens the warrior in a area that it was not over powered in to begin with.
Have other professions seen big nerfs sure, thiefs, elemetalists are the big receivers of nerfs. However thier profession mechanics are so different than warriors they will be able to cope thiefs with stealth mechanics and eles with thier sustain a versatility.

Warriors seem powerful if you don’t play their weapon. Once I was not just familiar with their weapons, but intimate with them, all i do now is look at the weapon. After that they are fairly easy to manage because you know what to expect and all of it comes with telegraphs. If you waste time being a clicker, looking at your cool downs, things in the environment then they become harder to face.
Key point: Keep your eyes on screen and you’ll soon notice warrior becomes not only very manageable, but very predictable to play against.
Hence why nobody uses the healing stance. Very telegraphed. Very easy to recognise immediately even if you missed the cast.
Unfortunately to keep eyes on screen 100% of the time it does require some investment in technology by the player. This is just a p2w situation with real life money because a-net refuses to make HUD customization.
