Defiant Stance Vs Healing Signet
I run Healing Signet, short CD, passive regen and condition resistance buff.
In a zerg scenario, if you get targeted, chances are every condition in existence will come down on you. If you run into me, I spam immobile and cripple, alongside poison. The condition resistance will be way more beneficial than the incoming dmg conversion. Sure, you’ll heal more, maybe but you’re still rooted. You’d just die as the zerg rolls over you.
Most People use Signet.
D Stance has some problems:
It can be interupted and you have to take dmg for the heal.
Signet heals always.
Cause everyone knows that 370hp/s outheals a zerg’s damage X)
When running in an organized guild raid, I think I’d take the Defiant Stance, because there’s already a lot of altruistic healing and condition clearing in the group, and you might take advantage of the stance invulnerability in many situations.
When running in a regular zerg, I think I’d stick to the Healing Signet, always a solid default choice.
To be totally honest the only time I find Defiant Stance to be worth taking is when you’re YOLO roaming/pushing.
Sometimes when I’m with a zerg and the offending team has a very good position such as a bridge or gate choke for example, I’ll equip DS to YOLO push through.
Other times when I’m stalking an enemy zerg with my tag up and with my Nike build I’ll put DS on incase they catch on to me and all decide to run me down which does happen sometimes.
Otherwise it’s incredibly difficult to use it properly in smaller scale and still pretty iffy in large scale as well.
Elegie’s suggestion to use it in an organized group is pretty solid advice though.

In zerg settings the signet.
Conditions ignore infinite toughness so any other heal is illogical.
Crystal Desert
Healing Signet.
You have a burst heal. Its called Water field + Blast finisher.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
IMO healing signet is better 80% of the time, even in zergs. Unless you are really outnumbered then water fields and blasts and also your shouts should be keeping your health up constantly. Plus Healing Signet can ignore conditions as well if you pop the active.
Defiant Stance I feel like it can be extremely useful or extremely useless, there is no middle ground for it. I use it sometimes for the luls when I’m heavily outnumbered and what not and to troll.
Only use defiant stance if you are full zerker and push with the zerg for the lulz. Healing signet is still best. Maybe I’ll use the beserker heal after xpac. We’ll see.
In contrast to popular opinion, I prefer running defiant stance when running with a skill group or a large group in general. There’s so many other ways to gain healing will pushing and you’ll have plenty of burst healing from water fields and staff 4 from gaurdians on regroups. Defiant stance is a great “oh kitten” heal and you can use it to bait a bomb or jump in on a lot of damage to put out some CC.

I have been running defiant stance in guild raids since the stability change. I find it far more useful then hs because there are more then enough healing from guards dodgeing, power ups and water feilds and shouts from warriors. I feel that hs is kinda useless, especially if you get caught in a bomb but at least with defiant stance you can revers all of that dmg and leap out of trouble (asuming you run warriors sprint)
