I’ve been playing around with different warrior builds, and every time I use the defy pain trait (activates endure pain at 25% health) I never go invulnerable and I never receive a stun break. Has anyone else seen it working, or might something be wrong here?

Not that I know of but I don’t ever see it proc often or none at all. It could be a bug or something else.

It works. Saves my skin in fractals on a regular basis. 25% just isn’t very much health most of the time if you start getting that low you get killed before you hit 25%.

Defy pain should be altered to proc if, for example, you get taken from 30% to 0% and prevent you from dying immediately I believe that is the true flaw in the trait.

That and endure pain is currently not running for the full 5 seconds.

It seems those kind of traits were broken in one of the recent patches, they now activate at a far lower % of your HPs; if [Defy Pain] is affected by it too it would mean it only procs if you HPs are less than about 10%.

Same as alexander, the trait saves my kitten in fractals couple of times per run. Problem is only with big boss fights where the boss can hit even an warrior from half health to 0, there the trait doesn’t help at all, even if it procs it is over when the next hit comes. Very OP trait in smaller fights tho.

so it only procs betwen 1% and 25% hp. I assumed thats how these traits work as I have the decoy at 25% trait on my mesmer but it doesnt proc when I take a 9k backstab and insta die

Well you don’t go invulnerable, you just take 0 damage from physical hits (conditions keep working). And yes the trait works.

Call me when this game gets fixed…. if it ever does….

Don’t forget that it has an internal cooldown, so it won’t activate a single time you drop below 25%

It would be nice if it activated even if someone did a critical hit beyond 25% hp. Then it would be worth spending points. I hope they can rework that issue right there.

I wonder if you can run with the endure pain ability and the defy pain trait….would a timer come into effect? For example, if I activated endure pain when I am at 75% then say 20 seconds later my health went below 25% would the defy pain trait activate endure pain again?

I’ve honestly never noticed ANY of the traited utilities like shake it off or defy pain work. I usually as I switch between build ideas throw those in initially for W3 but I can’t really think of a single time I remember any of them working and so they get replaced eventually for stuff I know works.

Maybe it is just like someone said above where it works at piss poor timing and thus is too late to activate to actually be of any use. I do remember seeing something in the bug thread on them before but I won’t hold my breath about a fix just as with fast hands that constantly screws us over when we go from out of combat to in-combat and need it to work properly since fights are over so kitten fast.

You need to get hit once when you’re under 25% to let endure pain be activated. This is terrible in PvP sadly

It works but not the most ideal place in toughness.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

I play a lot with endure pain in dungeon and the description is just very misleading, you still get damage from all the condition and indirect type of damage like the agony in Fotm dungeon. It really seam to work only on the damage you take directly from mobs at the time your buff is up. So it is certainly not an immune skill, and is far from “take no damage from incoming attack” as the description suggest.

When the trait DP procs, it’s up for around 2 seconds; should be 5.

Also, the proc is inconsistent. Unless it’s made more viable; keep away from the trait one.

It’s definitely more than 2 seconds, I’ll time it next time it procs. It definitely has it’s place. Many times I’ve been losing health from rapid attacks, DP procs, then I have a few seconds of breathing time to dodge and hit my heal skill. By that time my healing shouts are probably almost off CD and all is well again.

2 seconds on a 90 second cooldown is hardly worth the trait. Take spiked armor instead much better.

Most of our tier 3 traits are terribad. This is sadly one of those traits. In fact Both tier 3 defense traits are not worth it. You can put those last 5-10 defense points into something else and never notice the difference.

Endure Pain: Requires you to be under 25% hp…Yea not a good thing when someone can easily burst passed 25% hp. It’s not like toughness actually scales well compared to damage. Lets also remember that it is on a MAJOR cooldown for such a short duration. Added salt to a wound…

Spike Armor: Requires you to be crit hit. Why would you want a 30 point trait that requires someone critically hit you? For a 5 second duration no less. Yes please crit me guys so I can throw a little damage back at you.

Two tier 3 defense traits that fails to be effective for… defense. These are Tier 2 at best. This is just a small fraction of the bad state warrior is in. Don’t worry though guys I’m just a noob. Warrior is “in a good spot”.

lmao Yea…right…

I don’t wanna live a thousand years. If I just live through today, that’ll be enough.

Well, the reason I started this thread is because the Rune of Svanir, with a 5 second invulnerability under 20%, triggers no matter how much non-condition damage I take. I’ve been hit by a pair of backstab spamming thieves for insane amounts of damage and still had the rune go off.

I think I tried this one a month or so and don’t recall exactly but I do know it didn’t appear useful at all. Like Last Stand is bugged (doen’t proc when it claims to) which is completly useless I have afeeling it doesn’t trigger as advertiased , ergo, you die. Oh yeah, and Endure Pain applies strictly to direct damage. All the damaging conditions and debuffs will keep right on ticking away. If you’re neck deep in mobs (or player opponents for that matter) who have laced you up with cond. damage, you’re likely still going to drop so fast that you probably won’t notice IF it procs.

If the skill / trait also provided a certain amount of cond. dmg. removal or at least a break from it for the duration of the skill it would likely be more useful. Er well, useful at all that is.
