Delete Warrior
I just made one after all the changes, actually. :/
Go away, Negative Nancy!

Naw, it would make no sense. Worst you should do it shelf the toon that’s about it.

Shelf the warrior and hope Arenet don’t further ruin it.
Putting my Warrior on the shelf for now I think…had a Rifle Warrior (Full Rampagers, lots of bleed abilities, Big Hits, Big Crits, Big Ticks) but thanks to reshuffling of %Dmg/Crit Traits into Grandmaster Trees can’t really call it viable anymore so putting it out to pasture until someone can come up with a build that works.
…Really?
Personally I’m breaking my warrior out of the PvE-only closet I had him in.
Warriors now have condition removal.
Longbow got buffed.
Sword got buffed, giving us a middle ground between a full damage weapon (axe) and a full mobility weapon (GS).
Dolyak signet got super buffed.
Heals got a small, but quite noticeable, cooldown reduction.
Honestly, while it isn’t “perfect”, this has been, by far, the best update in months, and we’re, at least, way better off than we’ve ever been in the PvP world.
In PvE we’re basically the same. Slight nerf. Barely noticeable.
Heals got a small, but quite noticeable, cooldown reduction.
Ummm have you tested that, cause the cd reduction wasn’t in the official patch notes, and no one here has said otherwise yet either.
Though I hope that is just them tabling it for a (very soon, I hope) update. Maybe they saw some discussion and wanted to do something different than a -5cd across the board and just need a week or so to figure things out. We can hope.
Heals did not get a cool down reduction. Unless they just forgot to add that change to the notes. I haven’t had the time to get into the game to look at things yet.
Coincidentally the changes to healing skills were in the notes that leaked last week.
Heals got a small, but quite noticeable, cooldown reduction.

Might have got that mixed up. My bad. Everything else stands though.

Eh I’d like to argue with you about the sword getting a buff overall, but until I get a chance to test things I can only go by what most other people are saying “final thrusts cd is too long and the animation too each to spot in wvw/pvp and overall you lose dps compared to how the auto attack used to be”
Warrior was greatly improved, but continues very underpower.
Need more improvements.
People shelf their warriors when they get buffed? Huh..
People shelf their warriors when they get buffed? Huh..
No, they shelf their warriors because compared to the other classes, the warrior is more than ever at the end of the food chain after this patch.
Keep in mind that other classes have been buffed too. It’s just that their buffs have turned to be better than those of the warriors.
The burst skill concept of the warrior is trapped into a dead-end. When thieves have great mobility skills and stealth, and guardians have great regeneration abilities and protection, warriors lack sustainability. Period.
The only way to escape this dead-end would be to invent some new game mechanics that would provide the warriors with active abilities to dodge / mitigate incoming blows.
But at this moment, yes the warrior is getting nowhere.
Has anyone been able to test the damage difference of the new axe chain dps build-up vs the old one? Been at work since the patch hit so I won’t be able to test it for a few days. -_-

The first 2 parts of the chain do noticeably less damage while the third part did about the same from what I’m used to seeing. So imo it’s an overall nerf.
I don’t see any situation in which they can possibly call the changes to axe a buff at any rate.

Yup. Almost deleted my full T3 & Arah geared war because of this patch. But, decided to shelf it….for now. They got wrecked, big time. Sad that I can’t even run my 32k hp shout heal tank. And still dish out ok damage. Goodbye easy facetank lupi runs. Thank you CoF zerkers for this nerf………… -_-

BP → DR → FA → Mag → BP → FA
Starting to lose hope warriors will ever be fixed. They have already admitted they are aware of the problem. Months have passed. It’s the same routine patch after patch..
This time, sustain still isn’t addressed and now we have arbitrary changes and nerfs (Axe MH comes to mind).
So yes, shelving my Warrior until they get put in the right direction for once. Which will be quite a while considering there’s monthy-only patches and many times balancing is just skipped..
Quit to play my 2 favorite competitive fps and moba games ported to my favorite OS.

I don’t think CoF berserker warriors are what made these changes come about. The changes barely affect the greatsword build from what I’ve seen.
It begs the question though, did anet really think all these changes through or did they just put a list on a wall and threw darts at it while blind folded to see what kind of changes they’d make?

It affects pretty much every GS build; all in a negative way.
We were buffed in other ways. ways in which the new blind buff completely negates in pvp, and have little to no effect in pve.
Warriors still not properly nerfed. Warriors still king of PVE.
Overreacting much?

I went from warrior to mesmer… So imagine how I feel after this update.
I’m thinking maybe its time for ele or thief…

Yes, we get overall DPS since Final Thrust is on a longer cooldown than if it was at the end of the chain.
No, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since now we get one thing we didn’t have before: controllable burst. Previously all your burst with the sword was at the end of the AA chain. You couldn’t really set anything up, because you would have no access to the heavy hitter on demand.
You do now. Also it deals double damage when people are bellow half health, so it’s quite a noticeable burst/finisher.
On top of that we have way more (and better) access to cripples, which in turn convert to VERY annoying semi-constant immobilizes with leg specialist. It’s very disturbing for any enemy that relies on mobility, and very noticeable. Doubly so because MH sword is our second best mobility weapon.
As for the animation, it seems the same as it ever was. A bit clunky, yes, and could use improvement, but, again, same as ever.
LOL I love the changes on the warrior. (Sword+Warhorn 0|30|10|30|0).

whats wrong with mesmer?
they got hit by some nerfs this round too.
+20 pts into a tree to get our -20% illusion recharge
+2sec recharge on blurred frenzy AND changed from invulnerable to evade
Just two that bothered me, not that they wernt uncalled for but a nerf is a nerf ;-)
Shelf the warrior and hope Arenet don’t further ruin it.
Actually, I’m gonna shelf my War and not delete him just to see how much more Anet ruins the class. It might be educational!

My experience is the same. I have a Warrior, Guardian, Thief, Ranger and Mesmer at 80 which I play largely PvE, with some occasional WvW.
Cleansing Ire had me deciding to give the Warrior another whirl for a bit… I think those Warriors claiming the sky is falling in simply don’t have a term of reference. Each of the class forums gets threads like this.

Good luck to you. I’m re-rolling a Necro, and I’ve the feeling that I’ve played GW2 in hardcore mode until now.
I can say that the Warriors I have seen and/or fought the past couple of days it is obvious they are much improved.
I haven’t decided on a build yet for Warrior. Still waiting for Build Editor to update. Looking forward to getting him out into WvW with the changes.
There must be option on this forum for showing member’s age next to their name! and also should be nice to having “-1” button.
Wait… warriors are at the bottom of what food chain? People demanding 4-5 of them for CoF1 speed runs wasn’t an urban myth…

I’m pretty sure we’re talking about PvP.
That said, we’re in a decent place right now. Not perfect, but much better.
People are just very, very, very slow, and need some time to get over the whining and learn to use the tools we were given.
Warriors better than ever in WvW. Burst CDR, cleansing Ire. Smashing hammer F1 after every 8 seconds doing up to 4k damage + 2s stun while cleansing condis and shout healing.

kitten straight! Loving critting for 6k+ with eviscerate and seeing bleeds, burns, and poisons drop off…feels good bro
we are talking about PvP – 1vs1 1vs2 not WvW zerg vs zerg. I think everybody knows that warrior is in a zerg, running hammer and shoutheal, strong. But that dont lead to the fact that warriors are good in PvP. On the contrary it seems Longbow and sword now is the only weapon you can fight with in 1vs1 becaouse cleaning ire always works with f1.

The problem is not with the warrior class being OP in PvE but with the AI mobs have in PvE and with the players that only use the best class avaiable to that specific objective (farm). When mobs become able to avoid/evade the (very situational) hundred blades (like a regular player does with no efort), warrior wont be the number one in PvE.
Then people will start to play other classes just because they are the best for farming.
its not a warrior problem. Its a AI and player problem. You dont need to nerf warrior. Just buff the AI and warrior will lose the PvE king status.
Who actually cares about PvE? I mean, every class can complete PvE dungeons and fractals. Its just boils down to efficiency and that is what is getting people upset and for that reason which is holding PvP warriors back.
Who cares if CoF takes a few minutes more running it with classes other than warrior?

in all reality, PvE takes much less effort than facing someone who knows how to counter your class specifically. Try a tpvp match, or wvw by yourself and watch how easily you are destroyed by blinds now.
All the QQ. Glad I’ve never run full zerker.
You should do it, i already did it

People shelf their warriors when they get buffed? Huh..
Not buffed (at least in the overall), they received a significant damage nerf by moving one (arguably two) of the staple Warrior traits to Grandmaster in both respective trees from Adept.
Both of those traits (Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus) could have been reduced slightly in potency but should be baseline master (15-pt) just like Adrenaline Health in Toughness. It makes so much sense in Warrior balance, it is a wonder what the purpose of all the trait shifting was for…
The end goal should be simple, add build diversity without completely killing viable builds while giving balance to all traits.
I won’t talk about Cleansing Ire here other than to say it should have been an F2 ability (not require an attack connection to a target) and baseline to all Warriors. It is a massive change to the Warrior but completely adds the next layer of skill/build diversity/balance tradeoff on Adrenaline class mechanic the class needs to have.
Was coming back to play GW2 → Seen the patch notes → Gives up on that idea.
Such negative nancys on most of these profession forums. I’ve actually gone back to my warrior for sPvP with several builds and soon to be wvw once I figure out a good roaming build. Previously pvp and wvw were just frustrating to have to pigeon hole myself into the only viable build and run with a zerg, similar for pve, but I had her as my go to dungeon runner. Now I can do so much more with more weapons (sorry, gs is boring), I’m having fun again, and I can actually kill people who aren’t afk. Lol. As in, actively dodging and trying to ruin my day, I can keep up (25% movement FINALLY), stay alive and deliver some pain for pain!
Just learn the new meta, it’s nowhere near as bad as you all are making it out to be. All I see is the recurrence of the typical mmo fallacy: my favorite class/profession can’t roflstomp everybody else by hitting two buttons? I’M BROKEN! NO ONE LOVES ME! THE DEVELOPERS SUCK! Come back in a few weeks, the new builds will have been tested by the rest of us fiddling around and hopefully your tears will have dried by then.
Altaholic, can never have just one!

I got a chance to play around a bit, and the changes are different. Can’t decide if they are good or bad, but I just need to change my playstlye a bit to adapt (and get used to hitting 3 for a burst). Just different having the AA do less damage, and I guess since I never used leg specialist I won’t see that benefit but glad that it works well for others. Now I just need to make the decision if I want to get go extra condi dam or extra power.
I did some very minimal pvp (and I’m a pretty low rank on top of that), but I do feel the extra strength of blinds. I guess the only benefit is that I’ve always ran 1h sword/shield and bow, so cleansing ire is helpful, but only momentarily. I found that condi builds put things back on as soon as I cleansed. It’s better than it was before, but I can see that trait not making much sense unless you’re using a sword or bow.
