For PvE and WvW, is it perfectly fine to roll say, Gs/AxeAxe?

or do you need a ranged weapon for the situations where you need to kite for example?

PvE, if you know the encounter you’ll know if its ranged only or requires a ranged weapon for certain parts. But most are all melee. Also whilst Whirling Axe looks cool it does less damage than axe auto attack ever will.

WvW, it depends if you’re solo or in a Zerg. As a warrior most people will just kite you so a ranged weapon isn’t a bad idea. If you’re the battering ram of a Zerg then two melee sets is fine as long as one of those is the Hammer.

In PvE and WvW I use Axe/Warhorn and Rifle almost exclusively. In WvW if you’re melee only, you’ll get kited to death by most classes and in PvE most Champ bosses will kill you real quick if you melee them. Hell, even my Bunker Guardian gets wasted most ricky-tik when meleeing bosses so, to me, having a ranged weap is practicly a must.

’Sides, with a Rifle you can do some very respectable single target damage and with Crack Shot traited you can do a lot of damage to multiple targets in a zerg.

And Dolan’s right, Whirling Axe aint as good as it could be, SHOULD be. Try out the Warhorn in the offhand. With Quick Breathing traited you get the ability to convert conditions into boons plus the abilities that it has are good to have too.
