Dolyak or Soldier Runes for WvW?
http://oakvale.enjin.com
I went with Dolyak Runes before. The Health Regeneration was TERRIBLE. I switched to Soldier’s Runes now and I can honestly say that it’s significantly more useful AND WAY less cheaper than Dolyak Runes. Also, you said so yourself that you use shouts. Soldier’s Runes are perfect for you!

Agreed. At 40hp/sec, Dolyak will only give you 2400 hps/minute. A healing shout build, at a base 300 healing, will heal ~1500×2 and remove 2 conditions every 20 seconds (assuming your utility includes 2 shouts and stability or Endure Pain).
I suppose Dolyak would be a decent choice if you’re trying some sort of tanky non-shout build. But in general, I don’t think Dolyak is really a warrior rune set.

Dolyak is garbage. Soldier is great but will make you always feel like you should be running shouts.
I think that if you’re not going shouts, Superior Rune of Melandru has some value especially if you eat the -40% condition duration food (though if you have any crit at all, this may not be a good choice with the OP lifesteal food as it is). -65% duration to conditions and 25% stun reduction is pretty nice imo.
Neither. Dolyak is garbage, Soldier is useless unless you go support Warrior with shouts.
I use boon duration runes for SoR uptime (2x monk 2x sancturary 2x water), and I’m very happy with them.
I just cannot stand to not have permanent +20% crit +175 power.
Ruby Orbs are also a good choice if you don’t care for SoR.
Or you could get Lyssa runes for both condition removal and protection.

With 0% boon duration and no cooldown reduction traits you gain 16.4% crit and 192.5 power from FGJ + SoR combined.
With 40% boon duration and no cooldown reduction traits you gain 20% crit and 269.5 power from FGJ + SoR combined. That is a stat equivalent gain of 76 precision and 77 power. Definitely not worth 6 runes.
If you take shout reduction and signet reduction traits, you gain about 25% more power (but no precision, because Fury gives a flat 20% and stacks duration) for a gain of 76 precision and ~100 power. Still not great.
You’re probably better off using 3x 20% might duration, which gives you 45 power in addition to the duration increase.

You just can’t just combine everything and divide by uptime as if we’re talking PvE.
We’re taliking WvW here, no boon duration means that every time you are inc’d during downtimes (aka a whooping 37% of the times) you are sporting -175 pow -20% crit.
Unless you plan to only fight for 30 secs and then leap away to wait for CD you’re not going to be very useful during attrition fights either.
It also goes without saying that no decent Warrior beside support ones run FGJ or shout cd reduction in WvW.
Hopefully you’ve mistaken this for a PvE thread, else you have serious, serious l2p issues with WvW Warrior mechanics.

tanky sword and board attrition warrior here.
i run a full set of runes of fire for the fire aura, leaping into a zerg and burning/bleeding everyone has served me pretty well for WvW. when they are all focused on you that’s when you throw up the reflective shield and waltz away.

Ok then how about this. All your boon duration is useless during the times the boon is up anyway. You gain when it would be down, and you lose when it would be up. Your argument is as if I’m not using any runes at all…
It sounds to me like you just fail at logic and math. It’s ok, you’ve got plenty of company. The US typically ranks as one of the lowest developed nations in math test scores.

I just noticed this gem. So basically your rune choice is even more horrible than I thought possible. Not to mention it’s hilarious that you are so desperate to get a tiny buff to your might but you spit on permanent 3 stacks of might to your entire group. And LOL even more at wasting a trait on signet cooldown as well when you could get 9% crit out of it instead.

Actually, in WvW its about more than just the might and fury.
What is also a great bonus is permanent swiftness, without having to use warhorn. You spend the same amount of tactical traits, but you can build more to your liking.
My warrior is axe+axe/shield and longbow. For me damage per boon+longbow range is the prefered major trait setup, since 900 range is not fun. Thats 20 points in tactics, with runes on it nets me 60% boon duration, which equals close to permanent swiftness (1.5 sec gap).
Its also a quality of life thing. With my current setup I have enough condition cleansing (heal+sigil for DoTs aswell as the heal removing cripple tc from trait). Only thing I want to actually get in there is a stun breaker, but with the few choices we get for that I have to live without one (no idea why berserk stance isnt a stun breaker). Balanced stance would be nice, but it takes up the slot of passive end regen, which also can be used to clear all conditions in the blink of an eye.
However, I dont think I would run without FGJ, or maybe I should and pick up a stunbreaker and another condi removal with shake it off?
