In PVE, will a dual-axe warrior need to swap to another weapon set on a regular basis? Thanks!

As a warrior, I believe no matter your set, you will almost always need to swap weapons. Its what warriors excel at (strangely enough, we only get like 3 traits that specialize in that). I think Axe-Axe works well with Sword-(shield/warhorn/mace) for mobility or utility when axe skills are on cooldown. Even a GS might go well with Axe-Axe. Its really up to you, but again, as a warrior, you should try to maximize your cooldowns on both weapons, (most of the times).

Well i Think Engineers don’t swap weapons often, and elementalist use only 1 weapon set but get like 4 attunements which is like 4x worse =P unless your really good at it (Bunker ele d/d = godly). Warrior using Rifle/GS dont constantly switch, rifle for range and GS for close combat. You can pick up a ranged weapon as your offhand to engange at range and when you get in peoples faces, you use axe-axe. Up to you honestly. I personally believe that quick swapping of weapons and useing their cooldowns is warriors specialty, but you can definitely play with only 1 set and still be succesful (assuming your second set would be ranged/for utility purposes like sword/warhorn for mobility.)

Change the swap weapon button to Q, it makes it much easier to use.

Mesmers weapon swap every 10 seconds. For example.

How about a rifle/hammer build? Is that even viable? Sorry, noob here.

This thing seems custom made for GW2 (or gw2 devs use these things).

You can re-map the keys on this thing as you please.

There’s a “15” button that i’ve re-mapped to my weapon swap.

Just a broad flick of the thumb downward and there it goes. No really fine motor skill required for it, i can do it in a panic easily.

Lol, it’s really not as complicated as you think. I level up with whatever weapons I’m in the mood for. It’s usually a ranged in the offside and either dual wielding swords or axes in the main. At level 80 when it starts to matter some, I’ve decided I love hammer for main, as the control in dungeons are tasty as hell. I use a long bow or rifle as my off depending on the situation.

To really answer your question. If you’re talking about dungeons, axe/axe is great (any melee you enjoy really also), there’s just some places and bosses you will prefer ranging, as melee gets decimated no matter your defense. I’ve done all the dungeons and whatnot and I only switch weapons when I need to range because the specific boss is just too hard to be in melee range. In my opinion, based on my personal play style, and the combination of professions that I pve with at level 80, You shouldn’t be too worried about swapping. If you play the character enough to get a good feel with it, you’ll be okay. This game allows for a whole lot more, “what I like” than other games. Find what you like and make it work.

If you have traited and geared heavily for one weapon, swapping may be a drop in dps so it may not be as simple as always swapping to maximise cool down usage.

I totally agree with your statement, And i stand corrected. I still personally believe that warriors are generally made to swap between two different weapon sets in melee combat for good reasons, assuming you speced appropriatly. Other wise, i understand how speccing all for GS and having sword in mainhand offset is not gonna dish as good DPS.

Hammers are slow, but have some decent control abilities, have never seen a warrior use it as a “main” weapon. Think of a hammer more as a secondary weapon to use for it’s control abilities, then switching back to your “main” damage dealing weapon. For example, great sword main for dps, hammer for control or what have you.

You’ll rarely need to weapon swap in PvE as a warrior, in PvP and WvW that’s a completely different matter.

As for weapon choices, Hammer is a god sent in WvW but utter trash in PvE.
Although if you are just focused on PvE as a warrior just use a great sword and proceed to faceroll everything.

You must be new to MMO games?

For comparison, my WoW thief and Unholy DK used around 30 keys in PvP, of which many were macroes that helped me to reduce the keybinds necessary. I used a Logitech G13 and a Razer Naga and still found myself running out of keybinds.

Swapping is to too important. If you have dual axes , get long bow for it’s high damage ( skill 3 and the strongest burst ).
Build Adrenaline with 5th axe then swap to LB for its burst.
