Dual wielding GS
@jassking: Let those idiot dream about something that only get implemented on Anime/ Manga and WoW. Move on to other topic.
Swords aren’t that heavy in real life.
Games just portray them as being overly heavy.
Also, nice troll thread
The Barbarian in D2 could dual-wield Greatswords.
Nobody has ever been able to pull it off without looking like a fool since.
Do you even lift, bro?
Seriously though I want to use a gs in 1hand. The hard decision would be to work out whether to MH Sunrise or Twilight.

I want to dual wield hammers!
A massive claymore actually only weighs about four pounds in real life. But the length would make it unwieldy in two hands any way.
But if Anet gave me a ’Titan’s Grip’ where I could have two Twilights…. I’d just use two Jotun greatswords. Either way, awesome.

I look forward to 200blades.
I look forward to 200blades.
Or having a surgery which attach 2 asura Golem hand and four wield Greatsword that does 400blades.
Just a joke, btw looking forward for quad Killshots
I want to dual weild thiefs! One thief on each hand!
I’m a Norn, I could easily dual weild 2 Asuras
Dual shield builds ftw >3< if ever implemented.

Dual shield builds ftw >3< if ever implemented.
That pops up a lot on gaming forums, mostly in jest. I can’t help but wonder that if somewhere, somehow, there is a game out there where that is a possibility…

You know… off topic… It was suggested that warriors could main hand shield and off hand weapon…
now that would be interesting and hell of a challenge for game design

It would be interesting, but for game design it would be easy for our gw2 team. >3<

Ever play last remnant?
Race called “sovani” in that game that quad-wield and double 2 handed wield.
I know it would be dumb to implement something like that in GW2 but now my imagination is flying high and I’m liking it LOL
(plus the sovani are cat-like…… LIKE THE CHARR! XP)
I want to dual wield two Norns who are dual wielding axes so I can use Whirling axe while they use Whirling axe in my hand.

Hahahaha! I would love to see that!
here this should help give people an idea if it be possible or not
I have been hearing a lot about how warriors want to dual wield great swords. WTF is this! How would they even roll and how would a tine asura carry a big kitten sword, let alone 2! There are problems like the minion AI for every pet class and you are worried about dual wielding one of you most powerful weapons! How would the character even swing one his/her swords…. they would drop it on the enemy, and don’t tell me that warriors are a bunch of Chuck Norris’ minions or they work out a lot. This is madly overpowered. Would a person wield a great sword in real life. If so I would like to see a human pick up 2 iron Two-Handed Swords in each hands and swing them both at a target without looking like an idiot. It even has 2 handed in the name 2 handed sword, which is what a Great sword really is in case you didn’t know.P.S. Dont take this too harshly.
Guess you never heard of Miyamoto Musashi, eventhough both Katanas,2 Swords are 2 Swords, right ?
You can’t compare a lithe katana to a claymore, Caedmon. A more accruate comparison would be the Nodachi.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nodachi
Which was a bigass Katana. And they were not wielded in one hand, just like European claymores.

No need to try and lecture me about swords, honestly.I gave him an example of a man that lived, wielded, and fought with 2 swords at the same time.
Btw:A Longsword weighs about the same as a katana,Not all were as heavy as you suggest.

You’re totally missing the point here.
This is about dual-wielding GREATSWORDS. Neither Katana nor European Longsword qualify as a real-life counterpart.
Do you even lift, bro?
Well, that’s not because of some manga/anime bullkitten IMO. The reason why people want to dual-wield twohanders is Fury warrior last tier talent from World of Warcraft, introduced in Wrath of The Lich King expansion. This talent, called “Titan’s Grip” allows you to equip set you’ve mentioned with some smal dmg-reduce along for both weapons. People got used to it, and since large amount of players from WoW (including me, player of both GW1 and WoW) have tried to find any good MMO after Cataclysm, because they got bored/ weren’t happy with changes around game mechanics. Those players found GW2 and expect nearly the same game without monthly fee – reason.

Dual Wielding Hammers > All other dual Wields
lol jk jk, but in all honestly, Id be happier with just bigger Hammers (50% bigger plz =D)
Dual-wielding two-handers? How about we just ask for halberds + great axes and stop with this crazy talk.
Well if a warrior is ‘master of arms’ I would love to use the underwater spear on land, especially the legendary cause it is just so kitten sexy.

A European claymore is what is called a hand-and-a-half sword. it is light enough to use in one hand but has a big enough hilt to be an effective 2 handed weapon. Claymores just LOOK big and heavy
I want to dual wield hammers!
I could get behind that. Why smash with your hammer someone into the ground when you could smash with your hammer someone into…another hammer?

Actually some swords are actually heavy enough that you will injure your wrist bad if you swing it with 1 hand like an idiot.

This. Spear is one of my favorite weapons. When I got my first one I didn’t realize it was under water only and was crushed when I found out.
I think it would suit as some sort of melee/ranged hybrid. Maybe a spinning reflect for all those jedi out there.
I want to dual wield two Norns who are dual wielding axes so I can use Whirling axe while they use Whirling axe in my hand.
Yo dawg I heard you like dual wielding and axes….
Dual wield greatsword? Swords aren’t that heavy in real life.
I have for many years taken part in battle re-enactments, I have full historically accurate Viking armour and blunted weapons of similar weight to the real things. My swords arn’t greatswords, they’re only 30inch or so blades weighing something over 1kg.
Years ago at a re-enactment / larp conference in Reading at the time called Armageddon while waiting for our display fight I was chatting with a larp’er with 2 rubber greatswords who seemed to think this was a realistic setup. Just handing him one of my swords he instantly understood why it is completely unrealistic to take something 4 times the weight in each hand and run into battle swinging them like cricket bats.
While a large man might be able to lift a greatsword in each hand (in addition to armour (mine weighs about 12kg) and a helmet (mine is about another 1.5kg), he might even be able to swing them both for a short time, being able to do so with control and put power behind them for any length of time (such as the length of a battle) is completely laughable.
That said, GW2 isnt real life, its a game and if dual wielding greatswords comes in then fantastic, my warrior and guardian will probably get them and I’ll enjoy it. Dual wielding of greatswords isnt even going to come close to being the least realistic thing in the game …. and that imo is a good thing.
Dual-wielding anything but a weapon and shield is highly impractical in any real-life scenario for that matter. They used to use small daggers in fencing etc. but even then it was just to block/parry incoming blows moreso than to have twice the stabbing power.

I dunno why this was so funny to me. I’ll dual wield two banners and you can dual wield two horns and we’ll take over Tyria!

I lol’d at ‘Battle Bards’
i was one of those people that LOVED dualwielding greatswords XD
it’s the ultimate show of a zerker player, sure you’ll die fast but by thor’s hammer you’ll give them a heap of corpses to remember you by!

Don’t be silly.
You don’t have two mouths.
Unless you run around with one Warhorn in each nostril, in which case you could also duel-wield two Banners.
Do you even lift, bro?
Indeed you can use dual shields on Dark/Demon’s Souls. But then again you could dual weild greatswords as well. Neither had optimal DPS but it was hilarious!
