Hello, started playing this game and having a lot of fun. Though I have 2 questions.

Will I be forced to use the new elite specialization? I find 2 daggers on a warrior horrible and completely breaks the immersion for me. Will I pretty much be useless if I don’t use it?

And second is regarding my build. I am currently playing Hammer / Rifle and I gotta say I am having a lot of fun. ( I am just about level 35-35 though). Is this combo viable? And if yes what skills / specialization would you recommend? I currently use bull’s charge, signet of might, dolyak signet and To The Limit for heal (and hounds of balthazar for ulti, still unlocking some)

Don’t have to use it. Don’t have to use daggers if you do choose to use it. You won’t be useless if you choose not to use it, but whether you’d be “optimal” remains to be seen.

As for your build, if it’s working for you then it’s viable. Generally speaking, most builds are viable in open world pve. That said, you’re better off with Healing Signet, and I don’t think I’ve ever used the hounds, but racial skills are generally sub par.

For Open World Content, theres viability in a ton of different things.

Spellbreaker certainly won’t be a limiting factor in that regard.

Spellbreaker will likely be optimal for power based PvP builds and disrupting the cancerous condi Meta of WvW.

It all depends on what you plan to do, but I don’t see spellbreaker being used that much in PvE.

I plan to do pve mostly, not the biggest fan of pvp. The reason I use hounds is cuz I need to unlock the other ultimates

Forget warrior as “warrior”.

The warrior you think wields a greatsword and it’s the Core Warrior (the non-expansion version).

The warrior version with the new elite will be a Spellbreaker aka a anti-mage sort of thing. So dual daggers is fitting to that theme.
Now weather that theme is fitting to warrior it’s another story. I can’t say I believe they are a perfect fit, but they aren’t that bad of an idea if you plan to give warriors a chance to wield daggers.

Nobody will force you to play daggers even with the new elite though. You can, but there’s a big chance their damage will be bad for PvE, heck, there’s a chance the whole spec might be average or bellow average for PvE.
