Finally deciding to share top tier WvW builds
Do you know if some WvW advices may be applied to tpvp?
because he doesn’t know it himself
Most WvW advice that is build related is separate from tPvP due to the vast gear difference.
Although feel free to ask and I will do my best.
I dont do alot of wvw with my warrior, mainly tpvp, but i would like to understand how to get a lot of crit dmg (something like 90%), and still have good toughness, power and precision.
R.I.P. my beloved Meh-Mer, the most hated class by ANET itself.
Winner of the first HxH 1v1 tournament! WOOT!
I dont do alot of wvw with my warrior, mainly tpvp, but i would like to understand how to get a lot of crit dmg (something like 90%), and still have good toughness, power and precision.
So you want to create a God?
What would you pick as a build if you didnt run with your guild group but instead being an allrounder doing some soloing, small scale roaming, but aswell run with big pug zergs from time to time or defend stuff, escort dolyaks.. just everything?
What are your thoughts on Zerker GS / LB in WvW? How would you build?

Yeah, I’m working on it.
But 90% crit damage is a wild dream even for a Full zerker Glass Cannon warr.
I think this is the maximum you can get

But I think is ill-advised. Seriously.

there’s 5 trait lines with 4 options each, and 6 gear sets to mix and match into 3 basic specs (zerker/condi/bunker), along with 12 or so utility skills, 3 heals, and 3 or so ultimate skills. So what your trying to say is you find some secret in all that, that someone hasn’t found in the past year or so and plastered all over here? Give me a break.
The funniest part is you think WvWvW is meaningful PvP.

Bunker? And you talk about being meaningful?XD
However, building is also about finding the perfect sweet spot that helps maximizing your damage and resistance.
You know, that little part about letting you deal good damage without being wiped out of existence with one backstab.

Maybe I just came into the warrior forum to be a jerk, and laugh. what now? Anyways real men go full zerker and use active mitigation to survive.

I’m on my phone so I can’t link a buildcraft, but I usually run with 20/0/20/0/30. Armor is a mix of zerker and knights, trinkets are a mix of zerker and cavalier. You can get to around 3k armor and 90 critical damage.
Yes, but that is not in tpvp…

1) What build and setup would you use to solo a camp? Upgraded camp?
2) As a roamer what setup/build to counter HGH Engineer?
Lord Titan,
What is your take on the frontline shout WvW zerger (not “zerker”)?
Thanks!

Yeah, sorry, he was referring to WvW, while I was thinking about tpvp.
In tpvp I find it difficult.

So I’m a new warrior (level 45) thinking about future build for wvw. I want a build that can be on the frontline and smash into zergs with my hammer and using GS for mobility/evade and occasional HB whenever I can land it. I also want to have a chance in small fights.
This is what I’ve got so far: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJASRjcOxwxO+OMxBEkCNkLOKUCmQ9wOqj4A-jEyAYrAREASgFRjtMWENWFDm+cR1KXAvBjWtMAMjB-w
Conditions will be dealth with by my -condi duration food and runes, while i leap around with the hammer stunning everything in my path.
What would you change with this setup? All help appreciated.
hi i dont mean to be rude, but so what ur from teir 1?, teir 1 is no skill what so ever, go tank and press 1 in the blob train, i hate teir 1, oh one more thing get ur head out of ur back side.
but i like your spvp build, been trying it out, good but no damage, thiefs just own everything and all there is range, some fun tho. what build do i need to face a 60+ blob in wvw thx my guild are about 20+ in wvw. thanks.

Your writing style makes my head hurt. As for WvW, if all you do is run and press 1, you aren’t playing correctly. The skill of zerg fighting is knowing when to engage, how far to push, and having a plan to get back out. The best zergs are typically dominated by one guild who have a variety of supporting builds. They are actually quite coordinated with their skill and gear choices.
never new lord had a muppet that speaks for him, is there no end to ur lordness?.
p.s my head hurts all the time lol i am stupid lalal.

That’s about what I use. You can go zerk/cav trinkets but your crit chance will suffer. If you run FGJ and Sig of Rage then you can supplement that but you will have a small window where FGJ and Signet of Rage are on cd.
You’ll have about 3148 attack, over 3k armor, 19k health, but only 31% crit chance if you run full cav trinkets with ruby gems.
I use Axe for sustained damage and nice burst ability. Hammer for CC.

60% crit damage is the max I think you can go in tpvp. 90% is impossible.

Stability, condition removal/reversal, and plenty of AoEs. Melee who wear PvT and spam 1 and any CC/snares that they have. To an extent, zerg battles are mindless follow the leader and spam your abilities and the occasional veil/portal bombs. Avoid enemy zerg aoes by shifting your mob to the left or right and wrapping back around.
Honestly, there isn’t a whole lot of tactics out there for zerg vs zerg. At least not in Tier 1.

The theoretical limit is 85%:
Full crit damage runes (10%), Berserker’s amulet+jewel (20%), Banner of discipline (15%), 30 points in discipline (30%), Axe Mastery (10%).
10% + 20% + 15% + 30% + 10%=85%
Maximum limit. Don’t try this at home. Or anywhere else, for that matters.XD

The best way to achieve this is Knight’s Armor + Cavalier’s Trinkets. This will give you the most balanced spread between toughness, prec, crit dmg.

What are your thoughts on Zerker GS / LB in WvW? How would you build?
Roaming wise zerker is a very strong option. But don’t expect to do well against organized groups that know to burst you first. GS/LB is strong but I feel that GS/Hammer overshadows it.
Lord! Please give me the most effective build for small scale roaming (2 – 5 guys)!
Regards
If you could give me the weapons your most interested in using I can help you out more effectively.
I’m here just to endorse Lord Titan. He’s an A-class baller Warrior who is more than capable of wrecking things in both small-scale and large-scale WvW. He used to be a big-time zerg Warrior but now he specializes in small havoc squads. Try his tanky/deeps Hammer build! It really proves that whole “Warriors need to be 100% offensive or 100% defensive” thing wrong.
He proved me wrong on the air live with it in fact. :P

1) What build and setup would you use to solo a camp? Upgraded camp?
2) As a roamer what setup/build to counter HGH Engineer?
1) Upgraded camps cause heavy problems for warriors primarily due to the excessive blind. Your best bet is to pull the mobs or LoS them so they all stack, allowing you to cleave them all at once. Build wise I’d suggest something balanced with either a mix of zerker/knights or knights/cavaliers.
2) I’ve found that a balanced GS/Hammer setup with mobile streaks can pressure HGH Engis enough to keep them on the defensive and burst them with chain CCs.

@Lord – Is Fist of the Empire on JQ or SoR?
Fist of the Empire is on SoS. Zerg ball strategy as you say (style) is correct. It is NOT about pressing 1 to win. Many guilds spend a LOT of resources, time and money to test builds. There are many things other than Press 1 and pop all utilities when it comes to fighting a zerg.
We took a lot of pride in fighting outnumbered, relying on group synergy, tactics and military discipline to win.
OT.. Titan is my go to guy for Warrior builds. I try to talk to him AT LEAST once a week about it. I brought him to Fist of the Empire myself and I have huge respect for this guy.
PS: get him to talk about his regen warrior
My fun laughs at your server pride.
Lord Titan,
What is your take on the frontline shout WvW zerger (not “zerker”)?
Thanks!
Frontline shout warriors that run either a balanced valk/cavaliers or knight/cavaliers are by far the best option for running with your guild in zergs.
So I’m a new warrior (level 45) thinking about future build for wvw. I want a build that can be on the frontline and smash into zergs with my hammer and using GS for mobility/evade and occasional HB whenever I can land it. I also want to have a chance in small fights.

Very strong build, similar to what I use except I rely on two of my teammates for condition removal. Also slightly different trait setup. I either run 20/0/20/0/30 or 10/0/0/30/30 depending on the situation.

1) Organized zerg fights really come to how a team initiates and how the other reacts.
2) FoE moved to SoS I believe.

Excels at solo roaming if played correctly. Must be aware of when to disengage and which key skills to dodge.
Small Group/Zerg( Reliant on team for Condi Cleanse): http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJASRjcOJvNPuQMxBEThiQ9oNqjNM9QMGw0A-jkxAYrARggSgFRjtqVENWtNmKmIqWIAzLAA-w
Great for both five mans and zerg fights but requires some sort of condition cleansing from a team mate. Excels when combined with a support guardian for both the condition cleans as well as stability.
Small Group/Zerg( No Reliant on team for Condi Cleanse): http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJASRjcOJvtQyQMxBEkCNkLMKKCgQ9oNqjNE-jEyAYrARggSeZNBOExyYR0Y12YKXhUVcklBgZBA-w
Very balanced build that is self reliant. Viable as a solo roamer as well but takes some finesse.

Yeah okay, that is a lot of pretty words to disguise the fact that zerging is pressing 1, spamming AoEs and CC and spamming necro wells/marks.

GS/Hammer has been my main focus due in WvW due to its massive damage/mobility/CC and superior usage of Leg Specialist. I have worked with every other combination but have yet to fight something that out classes it. GS/Rifle or Sword+x/Rifle is very strong in high dps gear if you can effectively kite and stay on the edge of battles while also lining up your piercing shots.
Does GS/ axe + shield build work good? Which seem better to invest into.. rifle or longbow for range and good dps?
For people asking for 90% crit damage toughness builds…
I’ll do you one better, 100% crit damage.
Axe/Shield, Sword/Warhorn. Feel free to use whatever you want for your secondary weapons, but I personally get annoyed not having a warhorn in WvW.
a couple things to note about the calculator.
Crit chance is taking into account unsuspecting foe. Ignore that. Also, even without that it seems to be higher than it should be. You can still expect over 80% crit chance with full adrenaline with precision stacks. If you want, you can change to bloodlust for less crit. This is viable not being a greatsword build. Your eviscerate will still have a 100% crit chance anyhow if used after a shield bash.
Your toughness is taking into account a couple things there faulty as well I believe. End armor is closer to 2800.
Turtles defense = dogged march.
If you have no ascended, you can still hit 92% crit damage.
This is a melandru runes -condition build. While you are free to change these, do so at your own risk as the build is made with them in mind as far as dealing with conditions goes. Don’t forget your lemongrass/poultry and leek soup.
No leg specialist, but can’t fit it into this build. You shouldn’t really need it, however. Movement impairing condition aren’t going to slow you down, and if you are still somehow being kited switch to sword/warhorn for a moment. You can use rifle secondary for group running and switch the pecision line trait to rifle.
(edited by Subhuman.3958)
So I just came back to the game from a couple month break and rolled a warrior.. I was a guardian.. I noticed Destruction of the Empowered is in all three builds you linked.. Do you really find it that useful? How often do you see classes besides guardians running all 8 boons to get the full 24% damage increase?
Does GS/ axe + shield build work good? Which seem better to invest into.. rifle or longbow for range and good dps?
1)GS/Axe+shield is fantastic, it comes down to personal preference to go either Axe+shield, Sword+ Shield, or Hammer.
2) Rifle is a stronger choice when investing into higher dps gear with longbow is better for balanced sets.

There is a correct link to that build with the right stats.
Its very viable, although I prefer not to rely on sword for my mobility as well as pick up shouts+ horn without fully utilizing them. All in all I see some strange armor choices here as well as trait choices that could be fine tuned.
If you’d like my opinion on what “I” would do please reply back.

In those builds the last 10 points of traits is up to personal opinion due to the limitation in choices at that point. While in organized 5v5 groups you constantly see enemies with 4-5+ boons up permanently, which makes DoE a very strong pick up.
I am always interested in feedback. If the armor choices seem odd, its because I set a stat goal for myself and used a calculator to reach those goals without uniformity in mind. It may seem jumbled, and the stats could be combined a different way to the same end result perhaps, but its the mix I wanted.
Edit – If by changing the trait setups you mean going 10 more in defense or discipline, I do change that around occasionally. I like running that current setup for the moment because of vigor uptime between furious reaction and warhorn 5, plus for PvE I can swap to the power/precision greatsword traits on the fly. For specializing, the other 2 options are better, I admit. I could even see the argument for 0 precision points and both of those, but that will be preference. I like to keep unsuspecting foe to guarantee eviscerates.

Does a full (or near full) tank warrior have any place in WvW? For any aspect? Always wanted to be a huge meatshield, but unfortunately I don’t believe they have a role in anything in Guild Wars
