Finally... the physical warrior?
Hello there,
I’ve been trying a physical warrior again, since the patch has buffed them. I’m having a lot of fun, plenty of CC, tremendous mobility, very good damage… What’s your opinion on the buffs of the physical skills?
A tiny disappointment in the damage reduction of the Hydromancy sigil, which was not negligible in the overall damage output.
Hydromancy sigil was OP compared to fire and air sigils because unlike them, it could crit.
peak performance still gives dmg based on adrenaline level? weird they didnt change that.
Honestly melee warrior sounds and look cool/fun. i dont see it viable given the cd on the ultimate and how all the skills do nothing to increase ur defense or dmg output. and the fact the skills aren’t aoe.
And the fact that ive never been able to use stomp effectively….i honestly have no idea why people think its good or why they have it in their builds….i dont think ill ever understand. Its a utility slot that blasts and gets people outside a circle if it land and if they don’t have stability and if they are far enough at the edge….just i dont see the appeal or how u can afford to waste a utility slot on that kind of a role.

Well, I guess they did nerf it for a good reason… I’m still using it for now, but maybe it’s time to try other sigil combinations?
@Cerby
Yes, I agree that the damage-on-adrenaline of Peak Performance feels a bit weird. It undermines the value of physical skills for condition builds, and in physical builds the damage comes from elsewhere (I think?). I just make sure I use Rampage when I have 3 bars of adrenaline, so that it can hurt more.
About the defense part, this was indeed a big concern I had. Trying it out though, I was surprised and felt it was okay. Physical skills bring two major things on the table: tremendous mobility (as the skills synergize with Warrior’s Sprint), and significant hard CC, which not only limits the opponent’s damage output, but also (re)opens old attack patterns, with stun chains (including Shield #4).
I actually feel that Stomp is much better than it was in the past, because you have a lot of situations where it can shine. For instance, it can be used: defensively, as a stun breaker or as a stability provider; to deny an enemy a revive (either on the reviver or the down player) or a stomp; for mobility; as a Blast Finisher; as part of a stun chain.
The build I used had weaknesses. Last Stand must be taken in place of Cleansing Ire, so one loses a bit in terms of adrenaline and condition clearing. The hard CC can be countered in various ways. Still, I think that physical skills brought correct compensation.
To conclude: each time physical skills are buffed, I give them a chance – but this is actually the first time… I kept them on! They felt satisfying and viable. The overall game play was even swifter and more violent than usual, with a solid hint of troll. I was amazed and pleased.

Having stomp on hand when you’ve got a downed allie and a thief has stealthed to finish him off is great.
Physical skills in general though… no room on the bar XD
A lot of builds are fun in offseason but whether they’re viable or not will be found out later in ranked. Also shortly after patches new builds may shine because opponents don’t expect you to play them or try out new builds as well, but some days later you realize it’s not working so well anymore.
Tried this build and hosnestly i loved it! feels like im a warrior again, stomp, bull charge and using greatsword
It only lacks a bit of survivability, but i guess i need to train a bit more with the shield and stuns.
My old warrior condi zerk build also still pretty good, but your build is much more fun to play. Thx for sharing it!

So obindo, what are the new sigil for power warrior?
Having played a lot with physical skills, I think they’re not ready yet. They’re not bad per se, but they have not evolved in the right direction – hard CC is countered by stability and stun breakers, and access to these has been made way too easy for elite specs. It is truly a shame
