I’ve read practically every suggestion that’s hit the Warrior forums and finally decided to add a couple myself. The Warrior is my favorite profession despite all it’s problems and I think a few of these changes would help fix our issues. Some of these are just to make combat flow smoother and encourage us to hit more buttons or use new builds by buffing underused abilities.
Quite a few of these are likely reiterated or very similar to previous suggestions and are just my thoughts of what my dream Warrior profession would be like. Also check out the ‘Strength of the Indomitable’ suggestion in this forum. It’s a good ’un.

Utilities:
Berserker’s Stance
-Is now a stun-breaker
-Grants might every time an adrenaline bar is filled over the duration of this ability.
OR
-Grants 2 seconds of quickness upon reaching full adrenaline with this ability active. (Easily able to do this twice in once Berserker’s Stance)

Endure Pain
– Causes burning, poison, and bleeding duration to be reduced by 66% over the duration of this ability.

Throw Bolas
– Now has proper movement against moving enemies and enemies moving up or downhill

Stomp
– Is now a ground-targeted ability with 400 range.

Bull’s Charge
– Changed from a knockdown to a stun.

Fear Me!
-Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds

Banners
– Place Banner (#5) has half the cast time
– Sprint now has 900 range instead of 600
– Stab now applies vulnerability

Banner of Strength
– Brutal banner now gives one might to allies in 900 range per enemy hit by this ability. No longer applies vulnerability.

Banner of Defense
– Staggering Banner now has half the cast time.

Battle Standard
– Duration of the banner brought in line with the other banners.
– Stability from initial cast has duration doubled.

Weapon Skills:

Axe
-Cyclone Axe: Increased damage by 40%
-Eviscerate: Now evades for the duration of the leap.

Greatsword
-Rush: Reduced cast time for the attack when reaching an enemy.

Hammer
-Staggering Blow: Wind-up time reduced by half.
-Earthshaker: Now evades for the duration of the leap.

Traits:

Empowered Battle Standard
– Now instead of granting regeneration, grants each unique banner a seperate buff.
-Banner of Strength: Now grants might (4 seconds) every 2 seconds
-Banner of Defense: Now grants protection (4 seconds) every 10 seconds
-Banner of Tactics: Now grants regeneration (4 seconds) every 2 seconds
-Battle Standard: Now grants vigor (4 seconds) every 6 seconds

Physical Training
– Increases damage of Physical utilities by 50% and reduced their cooldowns by 50%

Fast Healer
– Changed to ‘Rallying Command’: Reviving an ally now grants them and anyone who helped revive them 10 seconds of vigor

Reviver’s Might
– Changed to give a random boon dependant on which profession was revived.
-Warrior: Might
-Guardian: Aegis
-Elementalist: Stability
-Thief: Fury
-Engineer: Regeneration
-Necromancer: Protection
-Mesmer: Random boon

Brawn
– Completely changed to reduce the cooldown of burst abilities by 1% per point in discipline.

We need something to reduce cd’s on stands because they aren’t viable with their long cd’s but are pretty good skills and won’t be op with a 20% ish cd reduction.

I’m fond of this kind of discussion as lesser-utilized skills for all classes should be made more interesting, so here’s my two cents.

Some of those are just a smidge too powerful.

Bulls Charge stun would mean, when traited, it’s a 600 range immobilize breaker that gives you 100% crit on your hundred blades.

Endure Pain also reducing damaging condition duration on top of invulnerability would make it more invaluable than it already is. It would be hard, if not impossible, to chose another utility in it’s stead.

Earthshaker evading for the duration would make it unstoppably powerful. Zerg v zerg fights would entirely be dependant on a group of warriors stunlocking huge swaths of enemies.

On the fence with the Staggering Blow change, I would be ok with simply changing from knockback to knockdown.

Cyclone Axe damage increase: it’s already a solid skill for what it is intended to do, there’s no lack of Axe/axe warriors running around.

Physical Training at that level might actually allow a 100% stunlock with Mace/Shield and Hammer. While that might make people actually play Mace/Shield and Hammer, there’s probably less jerk-ish ways to accomplish that.

I am fond of your inspiring banners suggestion, quick math suggests that with runes you still wouldn’t be able to get 100% uptime on protection so that’s not ridiculous.

There’s some other underutilized skills that need some love too.

Sword offhand could be better, perhaps Rip could also apply cripple or vulnerability. Riposte seems alright, but the bigger problem with sword builds is condition damage being useful on a warrior. I think they would get a lot more use if we had unique condition stacks as suggested by the devs.

Berzerker stance definitely needs some love as it’s only maybe a niche skill for wvwvw snipers. Perhaps a might stack per melee crit for the duration, or extra damage applied while under the affects of Fury, something particularly Berzerker-y. Yes I know that would make for easy 25 stacks while double axing, but Forceful Greatsword is pretty much the same thing.

Rampage needs love though. Badly. Here’s my suggestion:

May require a duration reduction. Keep everything else the same but add this:

Unaffected by conditions for the duration of this skill. Do extra damage for each unique condition.

Now all of a sudden it’s an interesting choice compared to War Banner and Signet of Rage.

Both of those effects would be way too easy to abuse to all hell with our adrenaline granting skills.

– Stability from initial cast has duration doubled.

Why? The banner already provides your party with permanent regeneration, swiftness, fury and 3+ stacks of might.

Empowered Battle Standard
– Now instead of granting regeneration, grants each unique banner a seperate buff.
-Banner of Strength: Now grants might (4 seconds) every 2 seconds
-Banner of Defense: Now grants protection (4 seconds) every 10 seconds
-Banner of Tactics: Now grants regeneration (4 seconds) every 2 seconds
-Battle Standard: Now grants vigor (4 seconds) every 6 seconds

So Battle Standard would give vigor, might, swiftness and fury? Yeah, I don’t think so.

Your trait would allow for a banner warrior to have permanent fury, might (5+ stacks), swiftness, regeneration without any boon duration boosting.

Now, boost the boon duration with 30 in Tactics and 2x Rune of Water, Rune of Monk and Rune of Earth and you get the following insanity:

  • 9 stacks of Might
  • Permanent Regeneration
  • Permanent Fury
  • Permanent Swiftness
  • Permanent Vigor
  • 76% uptime for Protection

Of course, throw in Empowered and you get an additional 15-18% damage too. Not to mention the 170 stats to Power/Precision/Toughness/Healing Power

Brawn
– Completely changed to reduce the cooldown of burst abilities by 1% per point in discipline.

That would require nerfing all of the abilities, considering that it would make Burst Mastery reduce the cooldown to 5s. The damage you could deal with Eviscerate if it had a 5s cooldown is kinda ridiculous. Not to mention all the locking you could pull off with Mace/Shield.

Not sure I agree with the balance-level of these ideas especially since many of these utilities/weapons/traits are already heavily used (and there is a reason for that).


Another idea for Brawn changes would be reduction on number of Adrenaline Strikes in order to hit various tiers.

i.e. 1% per point = at 30 Discipline, 7/14/21 Adrenaline Strikes for each of the respective levels [or 8/16/24 Strikes at 20 Discipline]

The balance is in the nature of the cooldown already in place on Adrenaline use (10s base, 8s with Grandmaster talent) but the benefit would allow quicker Adrenaline building mechanics (build synergy) for all other Adrenaline-related traits as well. Or if your style is to use Adrenaline strikes as much as possible, this obviously enhances the abilities to execute at full potential. Win-win for all builds
