I legitimately do not understand why warriors don’t have the kind of options other classes do when it comes to finishing downed players. Someone please explain it to me. If there’s one thing I don’t like about our class it’s this ‘seemingly’ lack of options when it comes to ‘downed state gameplay’. I’m missing something here, I seek knowledge from my fellow warriors. It’s fair gameplay and I’m just missing something right?
Immobilize does not affect downed players.
Blind does affect downed players.
Chill does affect downed players.
Stun does not affect downed players.
Poison affects downed players.
Quickness no longer affects flag planting.
Stealth affects downed players…they cant target you
Engineer mini ability makes for easy flag finishers
Confusion……does affect downed players I think?
Then there are little things that people can use before a flag plant like:
-ranger pet blocks alot of downed professions’ attacks
-thieves and others can use their downed bodies to teleport and block other downed enemies attacks
-mesmers and elementalists have the ability to consistently 100% of the time teleport themselves to a safe locations (i.e. inside tower) using an ability that supposedly ‘randomly’ teleports them….your definition of random is bull.
Okay….so which of these does warrior have exactly? Immobilize? Useless. Chill? From sigils only, 2 seconds and we have to time it right because downed state grants 1-2 seconds invulnerability that nullifies hydromacy. If we go sigil of hydromacy we have to wait before switching….and by waiting we can’t start flag planting right away making the wait rather pointless if we need to finish them asap. Poison again…sigil only like chill. Stealth no. True invulnerability like engineer? no. Quickness the one thing we have a skill and traits for (frenzy) NOT ANYMORE. Blind…sigil of michief on weapon swap is our only option. Heavey aoe we can plant in a split second and then run away from? Nope.
I could deal when quickness worked but now it doesn’t. I can’t 2vs1 competent players anymore in wvsw. I basically down one of them and then I have to run away, letting their ally revive the one I downed. There’s just no way for me to down competent players and stand stark naked for the full flag plant animation while their ally is still around….the downed player can use their first ability before the flag plants and their ally is going to gut me if I’m standing still for all that time. If I just dps them it’s just as bad.
There’s a reason immobilize and stun and everything we have in our weapon/trait/ability sets don’t work outside of pure damage skills (damage,bleed,flame) on downed players….right?

When its about stomping players, try using rousing resilience and pop balanced stance. For some other reason it always procs RR, wether you are stunned or not
I think that in most of the cases flag finisher is more like “ultima ratio” for warrior, instead of a real need. The only way to guarantee – somehow – your flag finish is to carry endure pain, balanced stance and berserker’s stance especially for being “almost invulnerable” for 3 secs. And then have a minute cooldown. This is ridiculous, you can down more foes with a good-landed damage burst, being under effect of that 3 utils. Why not just beat downed foe to death instead? Most of damage builds is able to finish downed foe in 3-4 seconds, while still damaging other foes, if any around. Bow also works well – just place a firefield under a downed, shoot FoF on him, and pindown anyone who will try torun and res him. In most cases, physdamaging/burning a downed target is simply more effective.

I very much have the need for flag finishers. Especially if the enemy is healing the downed player. There are plenty of situations where I’m low if not completely out of moves kiting and damage both of them and I’m left with pretty much nothing but 5-15k hp and a medium amount of toughness. What can I do in that situation BUT run?
In terms of beating them down in 3-4 seconds…ya I could do that but not 2vs1 against competent players. I can’t sit there dps’ing for 3-4 seconds completely open to both the cc/dmg of the downed player AND the dmg/cc of the active player. If I can actually land the flag the first time….I wouldn’t have a problem. Chances are I won’t though whether I have 10 stability stacks (dolyak active) or not. They always just port away making me have to do a second plant. God forbid I down a elementalist or mesmer when they have an ally present.
Sorry but the answers given aren’t enough to show me that it’s fair especially if I’m not running berserker spec.
