Good build for WvW Warrior Zerg?
Depends what you want to do.. Damage? Support?
Support is 0/10/30/30/0
Damage I run 0/10/30/0/30
It’s a personal preference.
Warrior
Far Shiverpeaks
Don’t forget 0/0/20/20/30.
Still good damage and good support with increased power to allies and shorter CD on your Warhorn for speed and blast finishers.
Also Karlus didn’t mention weapons. All 3 of these builds are based around Hammer + SW/WH.
- Signet mastery can be swapped with Warrior Sprint if not using Healing Signet and Dolyak Signet.
- Every zerg warrior should be using Battle Standard as their elite.
0/10/30/0/30 – Selfish but effective

Utilities: For Great Justice, Shake It Off, Dolyak Signet
0/0/20/20/30 – My personal fav for zergs. Support, CC, Damage

Utilities: Berserker Stance, Endure Pain, Dolyak Signet.
In zergs I don’t find warriors sprint to be needed. You’ll always have a speed buff and a sword lunge to gain ground.

Here’s a 0/0/30/30/10 build I’ve seen used before. It will be slightly outdated, but I think it will largely function the same way. Some of the traits can be swapped out for other good options as well (i.e. merciless hammer):
It’s not the META or anything, and I built it for my play style but I’ve really been enjoying my build for WvW.
Slomoshun I was just curious on the standard shout heal build is that full pvt armor with soldier runes, also trinkets full pvt, also with soldier weapons and what sigils?
Hammer – Berserker/Valkyrie – sigil of force/paralization/fire
Sword/warhorn – knights or pvt or cavalier – sigil of bloodlust on sword and sigil of energy or hydromancy on warhorn.
Armor – PVT/Cavalier/Knights/cleric – goal is at least 3k armor total with trait and w/o food buffs. So, you can mix this up. Why cleric? warhorn blast = heal allies based on your healing power and not of the one who casts waterfields. But I do recommend knights gear.
Runes of melandru or soldier. Melandru with lemongrass is very good. But soldier adds that niche where your fgj takes away conditions.
The aim is to be a buff machine, which is to spam your 5 warhorn at the enemy/fgj and sigil of rage (balance stance depending on your need and endure pain) to take advantage of empowered.
But rather than spamming all your skills at once, time it when you actually need to use them; so you don’t waste skills unnecessarily.
The usual way to go about it is to cast skill 4 – for speed, leap into your enemy, cast skill 5 to weaken them, and then switch to your hammer – taking advantage of fast hands and gaining some might. casting your signet of rage/fgj, skill 3 hammer, normal attack to see if your hitting your opponent, then skill 2/4 and f1.
That 5 points in reckless dodge allows you to damage your enemies while dodging – pretty cool aoe.
As for images 4-5
Instead of warhorn, you’re using a shield. Same sigils used.
However, instead of spiked armor, you’ll be using cleansing ire to redure conditions in addition with lemon grass, and melandru runes.
Empowered allies and inspiring banners instead of empowered and quickbreading; so you’ll have stable power base which assists you and your allies, as well as fast casting battle standard.
Warrior’s sprint instead of signet mastery; so you can still run fast.
And Healing surge instead of healing signet.
Reason for the utilities is to take advantage of stun breakers as well as condition removal.
Healing signet will allow you a burst of heal in case of need. And battle standard to revive your allies or the lord.
I use both builds interchangeable to break the ice, and I’ve found both equally good or at par with each other. The only thing you need to keep in mind is, which weapon set you prefer to use and master first.
For trinkets – pvt/cavalier/valkyrie/berserker. It’s pretty much up to your taste as long as you have 3k minimum armor.

Why warhorn though?
Advantages of a warhorn
1. Off hand; so you have a main hand of choice which is sword, axe, or mace.
2. speed buffs
3. if traited, converts conditions into boons
4. weakens dodge rate and regens of your enemies
5. blast finisher spammable in a good team composition
Disadvantage
1. It is not a damaging offhand.
2. It cannot block or stun an enemy.

I’ve used a shoit /heal build for quite a while now. It has CC, heals, buffs, cleanses, and so on. I enjoy the survivability and utility of it the most.

I used to use your build in the old days. That’s what got me started to using the signets when it wasn’t popular.

I leveled up with signets! Lazy, but fun. Great for beginners. The more you don’t use them, the more benefits you get.

You don’t need to go full PVT armor unless you’re commanding and you need to be the last alive. I would run Zerker Armor, Soldier Runes, and Cavalier Trinkets/Weapons. If you want to be a little more tanky you could run Knights Armor with a mix of Cavalier/Zerker Trinkets/Weapons.
Hammer – Sigil of Fire
Sword – Sigil of Energy
Warhorn – Sigil of Hydromancy or even a stacking Sigil like Bloodlust.
This way you’re supporting and able to dish out some dmg with the high crit dmg rating.
Why warhorn though?
Number 4:
Speed Buff
Cripple Cleanse
Number 5:
Blast Finisher
Enemy Weakness.
Using the WH over any other OH is the least selfish way so that’s why most warriors us it for zerg fighting. Blasting that water field easily with number 5 is very helpful.
Remember, a warrior running SW/WH + Hammer isn’t mean to do dmg with his/her SW and WH. The hammer is your main source of dmg. Swapping over to your SW/WH mid battle is just mean for blasting and a quick AOE on the enemy if you’re running that type of sigil plus SW F1 Skill can catch some people with it’s immobilize.

The warrior’s job in a raid is not to out-DPS the opponent. Keep that in mind.
Guild Master
I love running GS+Hammer with 0/0/20/20/30 full Knights with Soldier Runes.
Although it may not be as effective as the build Soverign posted; 0/0/20/20/30 build with S/WH + Hammer. It’s really fun.
Not really an “front line tank” build, but more so a “secondary tank”. It’s great if you want to do DMG/Semi-Tank (you can get around 3K Armor if you play around with trinkets)
Here is the trait differences:
Defense: “Merciless Hammer” instead of “Cleansing Ire” (either one is good)
Tactics: “Leg Specialist” instead of “Empower Allies”, and “Lung Capacity” instead of “Quick Breathing”
Utilities: FGJ, Shake It Off, Balanced Stance
Elite: War Banner / Signet of Rage (switch around as needed)
Heal: Healing Surge
This build allows you to CC with Hammer AND do decent DMG; faster skill recharge + more dmg when enemy is disabled + continuous bursts.
For condition removal, since you have soldier runes, you have FGJ = Removes 1 condition, Shake It Off = Stun Break + Removes 2 condition.
Overall Survivability: Decent
Overall Support: Low
Overall Crowd Control: Medium
Overall Condition Removal: Lower than META
Overall DMG: Medium-High
Overall Fun: High!
Secondary tanks shine if they are really quick to move around the zerg and avoid the big hits. The main tanks can really help with the supporting aspect.
And to answer why I use GS; “Quick” Escape/Engage Mechanism (if you are in a zerg you will auto have speed boost anyways). Also being a semi-tank, you can actually HB people without instantly dying…it’s fun to see 10k+ on 3+ enemy
Not sure if this is the optimal way to go with GS/Hammer with a ZvZ, but that’s what I’m doing right now – I’m open to suggestions!
