Good build for someone sick of GS?
Hammer – Axe/Mace
Try the DPS Variant
When I get sick of GS I go for dual axes instead. Rifle is my primary though.
Defensive Napkins [MoB] Guardian

Dual axes hurt, so if you’re looking for pain give them a try.
Dual axe is overrated. Personally I think the best DPS you can get will be Axe/Sword(Good bleeds and heavy ranged attack) or Axe/Mace(Good stun and more vulnerability). I really wish Warriors had the #5 GS pull skill, that’s the one reason I enjoy Guardian more, but Warriors have so much synergy its ridiculous.
Played around with dual axes tonight and am impressed, lots of pain and fun. The only thing I miss is a distance closer, but I suppose it’s nice to run and rifle volley then swap to melee, still a distance closer would be nice. Do you guys have any links to good dual axe builds? Mostly for pve and farming but a spvp would be cool also.
Took a look at axe/sword, very interesting. To make bleed work I’m assuming I’d have to invest in condition damage some, not sure if that would dilute the other damage modifiers and I’d hate to lose the off hand axe AOE which hits for insane damage and also let’s me be mobile. Interesting stuff though.
If you want a distance closer try bulls charge. It’s a distance closer with damage and a knock down.
I recently changed to dual axes and have enjoyed it, but I’m going to give off hand mace a try.

This is my current build for sPvP and tPvP. I use it to immobilize my foes for great durations, then stack up the bleeds. It has 100% crit chance in Sword/Sword with a very high uptime.
Crit: 70% base + 10% trait + 20% furry on immobilize and elite.
Immobilize for multiple sources (sword and axe 3 cripple with 1 sec imob, throw bolas, and sword burst).
Throw bolas and axe 3 are horrid at hitting anything, so I like to start in sword, charge, then sword 3, if that hits → throw bolas, use sword 4 then axe 3 and 5 to fill adrenaline. Switch back to sword and flurry the bleeds onto then. With the sigil and trait, theirs a high chance to get up to 15 or 20 bleeds from your 100% critical flurry.
This build is power house, so I don’t have to much survivability, you may notice the endure pain. I was thinking of dropping 10 from tactics to get 10 in defense for 25% increased duration of stances.
I know I use an axe, that has no bleeds on it but I can keep 4-6 staked from auto attack, then drop a large amount with 90% crit on whirling axe. A rifle would also go well with this build, and I have been considering it over dual axes to get some range and bleeds. Rifle 3 is also a cripple and would work in place of axe 3 cripple.
In tPvP I run this build with a support ele to cap mid point and to fight off 3 or 4 foes. The ele keeps me alive while I pile on the damage. In structure this is a fun build to run 1 vs 1 but more then 1 enemy is quite a hard fight due to low survival

Hey TGSlasher. I’m interested in your build but, even copy pasting I can’t seem to view the link. Do you know also how good a bleeds build would be in pve? I haven’t really touched swords that much. Thanks
Nudal.5310Personally I think the best DPS you can get will be Axe/Sword(Good bleeds and heavy ranged attack) or Axe/Mace(Good stun and more vulnerability).
I also play with mace offhand because of how great the utility is, but it doesn’t change the fact that in terms of pure damage, axe is the best offhand and main hand weapon in the Warrior’s arsenal.
As to condition builds on Warriors, personally I think they’re stupid. It’s one of the things that a number of other classes do so much better than Warrior could ever hope too.
I was once a full-time GS Warrior, but I honestly found it quite boring pretty quick.
I went with what I know best from my past MMOs: Sword-n-Board! I played mostly the main tank back during my raiding days. So playing a role with a 1-hander and a shield would feel more like home for me.
Despite not being a “dedicated” tank in GW2, I still find it quite enjoyable. Most of my gear is Precision/Toughness/Conditions, but my enemies still die within a reasonable amount of time despite having little Power in my set (unless the Bleeds get purged, but since it usually gets reapplied from auto-attack, I’m not too concerned of it). I also have a few Vitality pieces to swap to if I could use more HP, but it’s usually situational for me, and I’m comfortable with my base HP most times in both PvE and WvW. Plus, I’m very durable with all that Toughness. However, if I really need Power, then I could always fallback to some of my Berserker’s set that I used for GS-related builds, or even use some pieces from a Knight’s set.
The only downside I’ve experienced would be trying to destroy objects and siege weapons since you can’t do any conditions on them (yet?). The only Power I get is from the Armored Attack trait in the Defense line as well trinkets, which I suppose is pretty reasonable.
My current build is 30 in Arms, 30 in Defense, and 10 in Tactics. However, I like to experiment and I’ll move my points around based on what I want to try out. Right now, I’m focused on doing damage with my bleeds by picking up traits to increasing the potency and longevity of bleeds; while picking up traits related to using a Shield such as Missile Deflection. I actually find Missile Deflection to useful in PvP which would deflect most condition-inflicting projectiles back to the caster. Although, in some situations, I’ll take out a 10 points in Arms, or 5 points in both Arms and Defense, and put that in Tactics for extra utility (0/20/30/20/0 or 0/25/25/20/0 respectively); or even put those 10 points in Discipline for gaining Might every time I block.

Not saying its the best build, but it surely is a lot of fun for me. Dual swords….. Making your targets bleed like crazy is quite fun to see. Its mobile and versatile. Mixed skills that can damage at range, make you leap etc. At level 77 atm, but plan to go 20 strength, 30 arms and 20 defense. Stats like precision, condition together with traits like 50% bleed duration and 33% chance to cause bleeding on critical and sigil of earth make it really fun and viable.
Bleeds are pretty terrible in PvP so don’t go that route if pvp is your goal. Everyone brings condition removal and lots of it.
Heck, i bring condition removal in 5 places: horn 4, horn 5 (with the trait to convert a condition into boon), mending (remove 2), shake it off (remove 2) and fear me (remove 1) – 6/6 soldier runes for shouts removing conditions. Its a bit overkill sure, but it makes sure i’m always able to stay mobile and condition free.
For PvE basically anything is viable. I generally run dual axes for that though since axe 5 adren gain is soooooooooooo good. Also tags alot of mobs for you during dynamic events.
