Looking for a good hammer build for wvwvw ? (maybe hammer/rifle?)

Search for the “captain hammer” build, you’ll love annoying mobs

If you are going on the intent of full control and almost no damage then this will work.

Hammer
Sword + Shield/Horn

10/0/30/10/20
For strength traits go with either the healing or fall trait
Defense 10 can be anything, Defense 20 will be Hammer trait, Defense 30 will be endure pain
Tactic 10 will be Immobilization trait
Discipline 10 will be either signet or shouts depending on your preference, Discipline 20 will be either be movement clearing immobilization or signet recharge.

You can take points out of strength or discipline and get 20 tactics if you like the warhorn trait or shouts but I personally don’t like it.

Utility skills will be Adrenaline Heal, Shake it off, Bullrush + whatever you want and signet of rage.

One very important thing to note is that when using knockdowns is too make sure that the enemy is up before using your next one, knocking down when a person is already knocked down does nothing.

For Armors I usually use P/V/T (Knight works as well if you like crits) gear with melendru runes and bowl of Poultry and Leek soup (hilariously cheap, don’t worry about cost), conditions will be the last of your worries

Captain Hammer is good but more as a roamer, in wvw siege i wasn’t happy with it (but that my playstyle).

good points about that build:
fury up 100% of the time.
over 50% critical chance due to fury and 25 stacks of +10 precision with the sigil.
over 3400 armor when using a shield, over 3350 armor when the hammer is equipped
over 27k hp
near 3k attack without might boons. but u will have might up 100% of the time.
shouts still heal 1.5k hp.

tip: always switch to ur warhorn to try to keep swiftness 100% of the time up. which u could keep up if shield wasn’t more important in battles.

things u can change:
endure pain in the utility skill. u can get balanced stance instead.
missile deflection trait V. u could get embrace the pain trait I.
mending healing skill for healing signet.

30-Embrace the pain, merceliess hammer, last stand
30-Leg Specialist, lung capacity, vigiorous shouts.

Full cleric. Soldier runes.

Hammer main and sword/warhorn secondary. The sword/warhorn is for mobility(sword skill #2 to leap out of stuff and warhorn for swiftness and will also remove some conditions.

Skills are fear me, shake it off, for great justice(on auto attack), and war banner for the elite.

Helps to have others running this build with you to synergize shouts with and add in more CC fun.

I liked having mace/mace in my secondary when I would 1v1 so I could keep the opponent stunned because there isn’t really much DPS without group buffing.

It depends on what you want to do. I personally run a very similar build to lt Google with p/t/v armor and berserkers trinkets. Sword/shield with p/v/t and berserkers hammer. 3k tough with one set, and maintaining some pretty serious damage. I go with 10 points in arms for unsuspecting foe, but have often mentally debated picking up leg specialist instead. I also run spiked armor over EP as I don’t like anything on a 90 second cooldown. Oh, and embrace the pain in defence as well, Earthquake every 10 seconds in any group fight just about.

Utilities I go balanced stance, signet of stamina, signet of rage… Third one depends on what I’m doing and the size of my group. Frenzy/bulls charge/tactics banner/FGJ are solid choices, bulls charge and FGJ are good for almost every situation though.

I think the most important part of any offensive hammer build is 20 points in defence for the hammer trait and 20 points in discipline for mobile strikes with a mobility heavy secondary weapon set.

he’s just asking for some tips. my build started by reading this forum. now i modify it once in a while.

we are just putting light on the dark.

Everyone’s idea of fun is different. Some enjoy figuring out the numbers and sharing them, others don’t find that enjoyable at all. Even with “cookie cutter” builds, people tend to personalize their builds. So I doubt that “everyone” is running the exact same build.

I usually try out the class to figure things out but, sometimes it is nice to have a build that you can start playing with right away. Takes a while to figure things out some times. One may or may not like that build but at least it is a start and they can see what stuff does in that build and how that build works. Makes it easier to counter when you see the opposing player running a particular build.
