Got full AC set - Looking for Advice
Sword MH is pretty viable with condition damage.
The rest of the weapons if kind of up to Play style and choice.
A good start would be Sword/Sword +Longbow/rifle as your sub weapon.
Sorry to break it to you but as far as warriors are concerned condition damage is pretty gimp. The only condition we can stack fairly reliably is bleed and both necro and thief do that far better. You can use swords/sword and do pretty well but it’s not really going to be optimal due to the hard cap of 25 stacks on conditions coupled with other classes that do conditions better..
That being said it’s a good starter set for you as it saved you money from having to craft a set of armor.
Best advice would be to either go for another dungeon set or start farming karma to get the karma gear. CoF has berserker stats while the Arah set has knight stats, both of which will probably be the most recommended stat combos for warrior.
Of course this all depends on what kind of build you’re going for, too.
I don’t mean any disrespect, but why did you buy an entire set of gear from a dungeon without first deciding what your build focus would be?!?
In general, condition damage is frowned on for the warrior class, because the only damage causing condition a warrior can reliably and quikcly apply is Bleed. To do so requires using a Rifle which is a terrible weapon (IMHO) when focused on condition damage or Swords. Using Swords means you have to be in melee combat which means you have to either focus on survivability in some form or another or be very good at avoiding damage all together (e.g., dodging).
Now, that said, I have a set of gear and setup for my warrior that is a hybrid direct damage and condition damage (utilizing lots of Might since it buffs both power and condition damage). The build is fun, does some respectable damage on both ends of the spectrum but I’ve since ‘retired’ the gear to my bank because I just couldn’t justify using it over my direct damage gear / setups. However, I didn’t use any Ramapager’s gear (which is the equivalent to the gear I assume you got from AC, which is Precision, Power/Condition Damage).
Most folks will tell you if you’re playing a warrior, focus on direct damage. It will rarely, if ever, let you down. That means focusing on Power, Precision, and Critical Damage. Sprinkle in survivability as the situation or your play style warrants.
So, long story short, to get the best out of that gear, look into builds that utilize lots of Might, and that mix in both direct and condition damage, focusing on bleeds.

I see! Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciated! I will stow it away once I have some better options available.
The tears were farmed leveling Dungeon leveled in AC so I had the entire set pre-80 waiting for me.
I’m going to use a sword set up for now and work on farming the rest, cheers!
Condition damage on a Warrior is incredibly viable especially in WvW. It’s only in sPvP that it gets countered easily. This actually looks like a REALLY fun build too. AND it’s insanely cheap. I’m gonna’ play around with this.
Sword/Sword + Longbow with Arms [III] & Arms 25
Superior Sigil of Corruption/Agony/Earth/Generosity on Swords
Superior Sigil of Smoldering on Longbow
Insanely cheap:
Superior Rune of the Adventurer
Superior Rune of the Undead
Superior Rune of Grenth + Superior Sigil of Ice
Relatively pricey:
Superior Rune of the Thief
Superior Rune of the Afflicted x3 + Superior Rune of the Flame Legion x3
I’d go for:
Weapons:
- Sword #1 – Superior Sigil of Corruption (or Agony/Earth if you can’t afford it)
- Sword #2 – Superior Sigil of Agony/Earth (or Ice if you’re going with Grenth Runes)
- Longbow – Superior Sigil of Smoldering
Armor:
- Superior Rune of the Undead – tanky & insanely cheap
- Superior Rune of Grenth – CHEAPEST (6 silver) & added chill duration if you went Superior Sigil of Ice
- Superior Rune of the Thief – a bit pricey but more dps and critical chance to proc your on-crits.
- Superior Rune of the Afflicted x3 + Superior Rune of the Flame Legion x3 – pricey but gives you longer condition duration!
note that price =/= performance and that it all depends on your playstyle
And if you’re going with this build, I’d advise you to learn how to use your Combo Fields and Combo Finishers. If you have adrenaline, start off with Longbow Burst (Combo Field) then use Impale (Combo Finisher) and Leap (Combo Finisher) to make the most out of your conditions. These will trigger additional burn condition on the enemy.
Combo:
Longbow Burst
Pin Down
Arcing Arrow
Impale
note that you do all the above skilled while running towards your enemy
Leap
Hamstring (Leg Specialist from Tactics tree will help)
Auto attack until Sword Burst
Sword Burst
GG
Practice block timing with Riposte and spam Hamstring whenever you can.

Condition warrior in wv3 is just about the most un-viable build you can have. There are so many condition removals in most situations it’s not even funny. We can’t stack conditions like necros for our little bleeds to matter all that much.

I’m talking about 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 encounters. I’m not saying it’s more superior than Power/Crit/Crit Dmg build but the guy already got his full condition gear already. I just don’t want him wasting it away by being told that condition damage is trash without even a suggestion as to what kind of build he can go for. Other suggestions say that he should still stick with a full Might stacking Power/Precision/Crit Dmg build even though his gear contains Condition Damage. In other words basically saying that his gear is garbage and that he’ll perform slightly less better because he got Condition Damage instead of Crit Dmg on his gear.
I know if I spent a kitten ton of time getting a full gear, I’d want to at least appreciate it for a bit before moving on to a better build. :T The last thing I’d want is to have all that time spent on those gear wasted because it sucks balls.

So, I threw the following setup together while the kids were watching Dora…
Gear (assumes exotic gear, level 80 for final calculations):
- Armor: Your AC Gear, effectively Rampager’s Gear (Precision, Power/Condition Damage)
- Weapons: Dual Swords and Longbow, using Carrion specs (Condition Damage, Power/Vitality)
- Trinkets: Knight’s Gear (assumes exotics, except rare back piece; Toughness, Precision/Power)
- Jewels: Replace standard jewels in the trinkets with Coral Jewels (Precision, Power/Condition Damage)
Runes: Superior Rune of the Undead
- 183 Condition Damage
- 50 Toughness
- 5% of Toughness = Condition Damage; should be 66 Condition Damage
Traits: 20/30/0/10/10:
- Strength: V, VIII
- Arms: III, V, VIII
- Tactics: VI
- Discipline: VI
Baseline Stats assuming I did my math right:
- 1813 Power
- 2086 Precision (60% Critical Chance)
- 1322 Toughness (2533 Armor)
- 1114 Vitality (20,652 Base Health)
- 1043 Condition Damage (94 Tick Bleeds / 588 Tick Burns)
- 10% Critical Damage Bonus
- 33% Maximum Total Damage Bonus
Buffs:
- 20% Critical Chance (Fury from For Great Justice and Signet of Rage)
- 10% Critical Chance (When using swords only; Arms Trait VIII)
- 105 Power (For Great Justice; 100% Uptime)
- 105 Condition Damage (For Great Justice; 100% Uptime)
- 175 Power (Signet of Rage; ~67% Uptime)
- 175 Condition Damage (Signet of Rage; ~67% Uptime)
- 250 Condition Damage (Sigil of Corruption)
- 123 Precision (Maintenance Oil)
- 70 Precision (Omnomberry Pies)
Buffed Stats (only changed stats):
- 1918 / 2093 Power (Depending on Signet of Rage)
- 2279 Precision (99% Critical Chance with swords, 89% with Longbow)
- 1398 / 1573 Condition Damage (depending on SoR) —> 112 / 121 Tick Bleeds // 677 / 721 Tick Burns
Additional Notes
- Sword auto-attack would be applying 13s bleeds, off-hand sword would apply 20s bleeds
- Sword auto-attack should be capable of sustaining at least 10 stacks of bleed by itself, worth 1100-1200 points of damage a second, _once you get this many stacks)
- You sword auto-attacks will not be great, but I think the damage will actually be respectable; the first and second part of the chain should be hitting for 750ish on a 2600 armor opponent (i.e., heavy armor golem equivalent), upwards of 1000 on a 2000 armor opponent (i.e., light armor golem equivalent), and the final thrust of the chain should hit for 1600 and 2000 on those same level armor levels, respectively.
- Would still have to decide what additional Sigils to run; Oreoginal has some great suggestions on options. Could either extend bleed duration (Sigil of Agony), apply more bleeds (Sigil of Earth), try and stack more Might (Sigil of Strength), apply some other condition (various Sigils), etc. Whatever you select, DO NOT select two Sigils that both rely on activating on critical hits as all Sigils share a common cooldown.
- Oreoginal also has a great series of steps for attacking and enemy to maximize your skills and damage. The only change I would say is try to time a Riposte just after the Impale and Leap; if successful, this means you have a ‘passive’ application of bleeds over time from Impale, and Riposte will apply 4 bleeds if an attack is successfully blocked.
I don’t mean any disrespect, but why did you buy an entire set of gear from a dungeon without first deciding what your build focus would be?!?
Because it’s cheap and easy to get?
You probably should have bought the AC armor set with power, toughness and vitality on them. If you didn’t know, there are 3 different stats combination of AC armor.
Condition damage is the worst path to go down as a warrior in PvP/WvW in my opinion.
The only way to decent damage with it is to get 25 stacks which by itself is easily achieveable, but it only takes 1 condition removal to negate all that, and reapplying said 25 stacks takes way too much time.
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.
Hey guys,
So I just hit 80, and farmed up my full AC set – I noticed it had a lot of +Condition Damage on it.
Is there some way this is a viable bleed build for warriors ? To focus on + Condition Damage?
I’m still learning the profession so any advice would be really awesome! Thanks!
OP, ignore the naysayers with their can’t-do attitudes and “only power/crit war” mentalities. It’s entirely possible to make a warrior who uses Rampager gear (which is what you got from AC) for PvE and WvW. I did it myself for a good long while on SBI, which was a tier 1 WvW server.
First, grab yourself a Sword, a Warhorn, a Shield, an Axe, and a Longbow. Then go one of these two builds, or some variation thereof (or even one of your own making):
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMRkzm0zMMGnhmMGnhm0x0GGcRqmaoa
For this build, you have two ways to insta-gain full Adrenaline, letting you unleash the combo field from Longbow F1. If you’re pushing a zerg, use your Signet of Rage, Signet of Fury to full Adrenaline, drop the F1 + 3 from your Longbow, then switch to Sword/Axe. Sword 2 into the group like a straight up madman, gaining Fire Shield from the leap finisher, then Axe 5 like a berserker for a whirl finisher and silly damage. If you’re still at a good amount of health, add insult (and even more injury) to injury with your Sword F1. Then run away like a little girl with your Sword 2, rinse repeat. This strategy works in most 1v1/2v2/3v3 fights as well (including havoc squad and solo roaming), though sometimes its best just to kite with the Longbow and sometimes it’s best to get in their face with the Sword. Oftentimes in these smaller fights your Adrenaline is better used on Sword F1 then it is on Longbow F1.
If running from a zerg, obviously just stick with your Longbow kek, but switch to Sword to gtfo. If you’re being pushed BY a zerg (i.e. you’re in a zerg yourself), pop your shield on for the extra defense in case you need Shield 5 and poke at them as you run with the Longbow. Your Longbow F1 + 3 in full Rampagers WILL kill people chasing you. For roaming or havoc squad, put on your Warhorn for the extra mobility.
There’s a lot of options for Runes on your armor, but for Sigils I prefer Corruption on my OH Axe and Blood on my Sword and Longbow. Combined with Omnomberry Pies and your high crit chance, they keep you up pretty well even considering how squishy you can be at times.
For a more ranged support style approach, try:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMRkVm0zMMvRammvRam0p0xfcRmsbm
This build features constant Adrenaline generation through the use of your shouts, which also heal your allies and grant cool-style buffs. It has excellent condition removal through use of your Warhorn and Shake it Off, and pretty ridiculous condition removal if you use Soldier runes (my personal preference but it’s not mandatory). Different style of play than the above build, your Sword is mainly for gtfo’ing when paired with the Warhorn, and you’ll spend a lot of time with your Longbow.
Same strategies (defensively speaking) apply to this build as the last, though you don’t have to pansy out quite as quickly, as due to your build choice you have a bit more staying power.
If using this build you’re not likely to need Sigils of Blood, so feel free to use Earth/Corruption or any other combination you’d like.
These are just two examples of plenty of builds you can make using your armor if you enjoy that style of play. The best part of GW2 is that outside of tPvP, you can play however you want and be effective, as long as part of playing how you want is playing smart.
Have fun, and see you in game.
No one said it’s not possible, we said it’s not feasible. Reason – way to many condition removals and the built in cap on stacks for conditions. You can do it, no one is denying that. But it will be more frustrating than if you’d gone for a different build.
Yojacks build works with cond dmg i think. Ive gone mostly crit (knights/valk sets)

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Feasible

i think it’s one of the more fun builds, and i use it personally, but only because no one ever expects a condition damage warrior, if they figure out what you’re doing you’re kinda screwed assuming they have any condition removal at all UNLESS you have other conditions along with your bleed and burns, and you do have other conditions assuming you trait or give up a elite slot for them. them being the confusion on interrupt and the reaper of grenth elite skill.
firstly you have the confuse on interrupt trait, you can either use some of the physical skills that can interrupt, like bull charge, or you can use the shield 4 ability if you’re running one. i personally like using an axe for burning bolts combo with longbow burst and it gives me a better chance to be able to kill thieves so i don’t use shield anymore, but it is nice if you want to have a huge amount of invincibility via endure pain + block, and the shield 4 counts as a leap so you can get the flame shield from it if you use it in the longbow burst.
next, reaper of grenth is terrible IMO compared to signet of rage and warbannor but it accomplishes what we want, condition stacking. it offers poison AND chill both of which are decent, chill because it can screw with peoples escapes and leaps and stuff, and poison because of the heal reduction. the damage ticks from the poison won’t be terrible either because we’re stacking condition damage.
to actually make the build work you HAVE to immobilize them. the end, you can’t keep them in one place and you’ll lose trades. you’ll have at least three immobilizes with the sword 3 and burst and longbow 5, and more depending on if you’re running with shield or using the physical utility skills so it shouldn’t be to hard unless they’re a thief or mesmer.
now, as for dungeons….if you have a necromancer or thief who wants to stack bleeds then this build is bad, the end. don’t run with this if you have a necromancer or bleed stacking thief in you’re group. you can get rid of the utility and elite skills you use in WvW/PvP for better things to the group of course, banners come to mind. could also use frenzy to quickly build up a large bleed stack.
anyways, this got a lot longer then i thought it would, so i’ll sum it up here, this build is only good when people don’t expect it. if they see it coming they’ll be ready with every condition removal they have and you probably won’t get anywhere fighting them, for people like that either peace out or waste their time until someone can come help you.
No one said it’s not possible, we said it’s not feasible. Reason – way to many condition removals and the built in cap on stacks for conditions. You can do it, no one is denying that. But it will be more frustrating than if you’d gone for a different build.

Thanks for the wonderfully insightful post. The word I chose fits and I used it exactly once. Nice job with being completely unoriginal though.
Now explain how I’m wrong about conditions, unless you just want to troll?

No one said it’s not possible, we just said it’s not possible? Also that was a reference to something else, but putting all that aside, who’s trolling?
I’m not the one claiming that refarming all his gear and completely changing his spec to potentially something he doesn’t enjoy is somehow less frustrating than playing a completely viable spec. If anyone here is trolling, sir, it is not I.
