anyone have any suggestions on an over the top dmg s/s build with secondary longbow?
Im hoping to do well with wvw, and pvp
Does ‘over the top’ mean ‘made of glass’ or…?
I unfortunately have to be the bearer of bad news. Off hand sword is useless. Not good in pve, wvw, or spvp. Forget using it altogether, unless anet brings them more in line with other off-hands. I actually have a forum topic open on this right now called off-hand sword improvement.
It is really sad, because I want to run off hand sword for the coolness factor. But alas Anet failed when designing the mechanics. If you try to look it up in google you are just wasting time. All youtube videos of dual sword builds are pre launch, and any other guides for s/s are made by people who really don’t understand the fact that any other offhand option is horrible.
As of right now, I am finding that an off-hand mace is really good in spvp and wvw. The ranged stun is fantastic for unleashing some carnage.
what about rampager’s set with high precision and condition dmg, get Furious (grandmaster arms trait) and spam burst?
i use S/S and longbow for PvE… its far from useless
deep cuts is practically mandatory for swords though
but for PvP/WvW you would probably be better off with a different offhand
I used s/s – longbow for PvE for a long time too. I liked it a lot. Full Rampager’s set with Coral jewels. Bleeds ticking for over a 100. Reached 20+ bleed stacks very fast.
Of course, you cant compare it with the Raw Damage from GS or Hammer. But it can go very decent with DW swords.
You just need to pay attention cuz certain party comb can spoil your bleed stacks. Used to run with 2 shatter mesmers. Never had problems with them, but when we joined another friend and his d/d earth elementalist (or it was d/scepter, not sure now), i saw my bleeds ticks for smaller amounts. That’s one the reasons i dropped it.
Again, like any glass cannon spec, you need to be very aware of when to dodge.
My Warrior is currently lvl 73, and I have been using s/s from the beginning. I only do PvE; I have no interest in any form of PvP. I actually use a hybrid build of sword/axe, and then the weapon swap is main hand blank/sword (this in the H screen where you are setting up your armor and weapons). So when I fight, I am either sword/sword or sword/axe. If I am fighting 1v1, I start off with Impale, then Riposte. This really gets the bleeds going (be sure to get the Deep Cuts trait in Precision). If I am attacking multiple enemies, I start with s/s and Impale (it is a ranged attack), then I switch to sword/axe for the offhand axe attacks of Dual Strike and Whirling Axe. I slot Signet of Fury to keep my adrenalin full, and burst attack as often as I can. I will flip back and forth between s/s and s/a during the fight, so I always have an offhand attack available. This also helps me keep the bleeds going.
BTW, if I know that I might need a ranged weapon, like in a zerg, I will substitute my rifle for my offhand sword, as there will be so many people stacking bleeds, that I would rather have the raw damage of the offhand axe.
Hope this helps.
Sword / Sword isn’t bad in pvp it’s just our condition gets remove so easily and you feel hopeless like is this really how condition warriors suppose to be? Since we only have one condition. When you fight against a warrior you don’t have to worry about it too much because they don’t have much condition remove defense as other classes.
As for burst damage for sword it’s ok, but sword / sword combo is primarily a condition spec which needs to be work on it a bit to make it extremely viable in pvp.
Terrible for PvE. Can’t compete with pure dmg crit builds because conditions have nothing like % crit damage and aren’t affected by % damage traits.
My Axe/Mace warrior auto attacks for 2.5k, no amount of condition damage is going to match that.
Not to mention the bleed cap.
might as well use a tooth pick then since i refuse to use axe/bows/greatsword/warhorn.
and I don’t like rifles or maces.

Rifle is actually good with sword spec if you’re going condition route. The auto attack of a rifle stack bleeds and it has a knockback compared to longbow. If longbow had lower 20% cool down rate trait then I’ll mostly use long bow. However rifle cripple effect and knockback has saved me and my team lots of times if we are being chase down by something that can’t stealth or teleport.

longbow is still a viable alternative… offering burning instead of bleeding (incase something is already 25 stacked), a fire field (savage leap into for fire field… or -apparently – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stronger_Bowstrings means you can just shoot into the field for more 100% burning), immobilise, blind and generally better AOE options
hm, Im going to forcibly make s/s with LB work.

From experience its ok and also stick with your group.

Fortunately, you’re incorrect. But, I’m glad people think offhand sword is up. Makes it more fun to use it and absolutely wreck anyone that tries to bullrush/backstab. I switch between 2blades/LB and typical hundoblades build often. I’m equally successful with both. My play style changes dramatically, though.
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcRkmm9coohgmoohgmGx0G0VRzcRzo My buddy modified it a bit so if you think it looks promising I can look up his changes. It uses Carrion armor and knights weapons as well as emerald accessories. Gives Power, condition, precision,Vitality, and toughness. Should be a good amount of dps and live. Lemme know if you like it…

Lol why are you playing this game then, since that is like 95% of the weapons available
I prefer Sword/Sword to Axe/Axe. I seem to do much better with the swords. With the axes, I will still usually win, but my health will be much lower than when I use the swords. Don’t know why, though.

He’s trying to find something he can play comfortable than what you see most warriors use in pvp. Not many play Sword / Sword build because for one thing our conditions gets remove too easily. It’ll be nice if they had a blind effect or poison and then we wouldn’t have to worry about our conditions being removed so easily.
Brutalistik’s right. Anyways Ojikori, your build seems very interesting; hope you don;t mind me playing around or perhaps greatly changing that build. but it is definitely a nice base to work from ,thank you~.

Not sure what your warriors race is but my buddy is a human warrior and uses Reaper of Grenth to add a poison and a chill to the build. Might look into racial abilities to add things to the build here and there.
