What’s the point of LB when LB burn damage was nerfed (and you’re not running condition damage amulet), you don’t have cleansing ire traited, and LB burst skill doesn’t even proc berserker’s power. With all those things against it, I don’t see how greatsword isn’t the better option.

It does have might stacking, but that’s it. And you don’t really need might while running marauder gear. Plus using the firefield over earthshaker will likely get you killed anyways.

Going all the way into tactics for shoutheal when you lack HP is going to be some rather weak healing too. 1,000 base, maybe 1200 if you get your might stacks real high. With week healing like that, stances would serve far better. Endure pain is especially good in this ridiculous burst meta. As well as berserker for the condition bombs…And stab never hurts. At least you’ll have ways to negate damage while you set up for a chain CC burst. Mesmer will just melt you from invis without it.

Honestly, hambow still seems it would be superior with celestial. Marauder I could see working better with Greatsword/Hammer. Yeah, rampage will wreck stuff, but beyond that I see no reason to play this build.

Also, heightened focus is literally the best damage burst trait we have. The fact that it conflicts with burst mastery just makes hambow all the worse. Heightened focus might even be better than merciless hammer in a hammer build…Dodging hammer skills is easy, dodging hammer skills against a warrior with quickness? Not so much. And all that additional DPS is provides is nothing to scoff at, either.

Not seeing hambow returning to anything reliable. It’s too clunky and easily avoided, and its traits are in all the wrong spots. And other classes are dealing too much damage and have too many evades/blocks/blinds/teleports/aegis…you name it.

Longbow still provides needed utility and aoe pressure.

At 26.5k HP 28.6HP with great fortitude there is plenty of HP.
Heitened focous doesn’t reduce the CD of hammer skills which effects your control.

What utility? What aoe pressure? Arcing arrow? That’s the only thing that’s going to deal damage on your LB without any condition damage.

You don’t need cleansing ire I guess, but taking LB without cleansing ire automatically makes LB 50% less worthwhile.

Without toughness, you’ll still melt. Sure, you’ll take more hits than other zerkers/marauders, but unlike them, you don’t have a billion ways to avoid the damage. Which is a lot better than high HP in this meta.

You’re right, it doesn’t reduce CD hammer skills, but it makes it so you can actually land hammer skills. And provides an insane DPS boost. A lot more than merciless hammer does.

You dont melt because of weakness. Weakness is the counter to the current meta, BTW everyone else melts too. Without having some sort of ranged option you will be 50% less effective. And rifle is for sure not better than LB.

I don’t see how longbow auto attacks would be better than the movement skills of greatsword, and the massive/hard to avoid damage from whirlwind attack (a nice evade too) at melee range.

Maybe you can land an arcing arrow off someone you disabled, or got with pin down, but most of the classes have so many escapes they’ll use one of their skills to avoid it.

The games always been like that though. I don’t know what to tell you. Same can be said about 100b GL trying to land that on someone with escapes or even remotely competent. I mean if somone doesn’t find it tanky enough switch to solders. But from my testing it doesn’t matter what you use damage is too high right now you melt with anything.

That’s what earthshaker and backbreaker are for. And those are assisted by hammer shock leg specialist. Then you can HB freely. They might have an escape, but the skills are pretty spammable.

Whirlwind attack is something they’re not likely to dodge though (at least completely). And it’s big damage.

My main point is that LB really doesn’t have any utility for this build, and greatsword has movement skills and deals far more damage. If you use LB for might stacking then you wont benefit from berserkers power leading to a DPS loss anyways.

hambow is imo worse than before anyway. firstly ,hambow doesn’t really profit from the changes like other builds and secondly, because of the buffs of other classes hambow just seems worse than before. same with shoutbow…. hambow and shoutbow feels much worse now because of the huge buffs other classes have gotten.

Can’t play hambow without Burstmastery, need to CC them when they’re in the fire field so they take more Burn ticks and sometimes the whole CC chain to take their health away.

I think HAMBOW is unviable now..

The build just gets farmed by guardians and Mesmers.

Changed from Tactics to Strength and it works much better,

Lost the immob on crip and needs a slightly different playstyle

Don’t know about runes and amulets, but with soldier hoelbrak you get 28k hp, still got cleansing ire.

Cleansing ire still there.

If you could improve plz post.

I tried this but I still think warrior has no place in the meta anymore. Eles are much superior now and zerk warriors aren’t viable if you compare them with thief/mes/guards

theres no way hambow now is gonna be better than what it could do before because of new trait position. If i was to do it now id rather play it with untraited hammer because burst master is wut made the build. And yes longbow is a good weapon still after the burning ’’nerf’’

I’ve tried a few variations mentioned here. Hambow seemed clunky to me now?
I went with GS/Hammer and it still doesn’t fit quite right, but it is useful at time. Less zerk and more sustain. Sentinel works well in some instances for this.
Condis are not a problem either. Still, by no means strong.

I feared this would happen when I saw some of the upcoming trait changes a while ago. Hoped they’d go back on putting both traits into Discipline GM, similar to what they did with important elementalist traits.

Someone out there seemed to think that Hambow still needed to get “balanced”, though. That, combined with the buffs to some already strong builds, puts Hambow (even warrior in general) far behind.

Was looking forward to playing Hambow again as a response to the new berserk builds.
Guess that ain’t happening any time soon.
