Vaanss, Anet recently took a poll of 2000 random players and asked about class balance and OP problems. 40% of those that responded said the warrior class needed buffs. 90% said you were just too OP and should you keep posting your vids, other warriors would learn your skills and destroy the game…

I enjoy your videos but I can’t say I see the skills everyone is always talking about.

I seen some of your videos and im not a fan even of yours, even though you do have a fan base. I main warrior and most of the time im in wvw so i can tell pretty much when someone is putting up a fight. Dont take this the wrong way but i wanna point out some things.

2nd fight – ranger and mesmer, the guys were very poor, you were wide open to the mesmers the whole time and the ranger barely even made a attack…that mesmer would have spam all over the place if it was decent player

3rd fight – warrior fairly easy guy, you can see the difference from the 4th and 7th fight with warriors

5th fight – thief, mesmer, ranger… thief gets down after you and friend double team him and 2 buddies just stand there watching , they jump in but its too late. mesmer looks like he was doing good but was being double team while the ranger was just running in the background and then double team… poor bad players

last fight – i give you good credit for kiting and taking down the power ranger while the elementalist was there obviously if you would have stay there when guard showed up that would have been it, good escape

So…in other words you’re criticizing the OP not because they played badly, but because their opponents weren’t good enough?

Sounds like a pretty weak reason to come into someone’s thread trying to cut them down.

I think his point is that many vids, esp where warr showcases 1vx, it is against players with significantly less skills, and once u analyze the vids it becomes so clear. That could lead to others believing the warr to be op, esp for the untrained eye. With vaanss n his skills it would be far mor entertaining to watch 1v1 vs equally skilled

You played well, but I have some suggestions from habits I noticed. Note, I am not perfect and still make some of these mistakes but because I know about them it helps me keep them in mind when I play.

When it comes to hammer, you missed a good number of your Earthshakers. I am aware that the skill is sometimes very unreliable in terms of terrain but there are ways to reduce that uncertainty.

Having Leg Spec like you do is one such way. I love Leg Specialist because it helps to counteract our classes predictable nature but simply not allowing your enemy to avoid some of your heavy hitting attacks. However you often went Hammer Shock → Earthshaker even if the Hammer Shock missed. Avoiding using ES unless your target is immob or if already CC’d is a good way to ensure you don’t blow the adren.

I often find myself going Shock → Staggering Blow → Earthshaker because that is more reliable AND unpredictable. Another good way to avoid missing is to wait to use ES until your weapon swap is ready. If you can tell you’re going to miss, just swap to GS again. Oh, and if you haven’t already bind “Sheath Weapon” to something you can reach easily (I have it on my mouse) because sheathing Backbreaker is a great way of getting people to panic dodge which means Hammer Shock is more likely to connect.

Like I said before, I still mess up following my own rules, but when I don’t my fights are much shorter.

Vaanns makes decent videos, but I find the permanent dodge roll jumping to be incredibly annoying and irritating. In every. Single. Video.

I know, habits and all, but please, just STOP.

You will see it in almost all of my vids as well xD I freaken love to dodgejump – idc if people don’t like it tbh. Better to fight a war with perma dodgejumps then a thief with perma let-me-go-out-of-combat-so-i-can-reset-the-duel-while-in-stealth mode :p

For me all the fights look really spammy. Skills are used when they come off-cooldown. Doesn’t look like there is much set ups, just using skills and watching what hits and what doesn’t. Vaans definetly does better with the usual GS/Axe build, this Hammer stuff doesn’t look like Vaans piece of the cake.

PS. I’m more of a Cygnus fanboy than Vaans. \o/

I logged into the forums only to leave a kind reply here, cause I saw too much critisism in my opinion. I think your vids are awesome, I love the music and I do think you’ve got skill. Looking forward to your next vid and I hope you’ll upload more often.

I like Vaans’ videos a lot, but for me the magic is kinda gone since I saw this video where he duels Arkone. The skill gap between these two is just so high.
