I had my thoughts to use Hammer for tough high lvl fractals instead of greatsword for its great control skill which can save the party/ make it simply a lot easier.
What do you think, is it worth the trouble or would Gs be suffice enough( im yet to experience it witha hammer)?

Hammer for trash mobs.

Greatsword for bosses.

The only problem I see is that their Trait builds are vastly different.

You are a Warrior. You don’t need to choose a weapon, you use them all.
Swap to hammer when it’s most efficient, swap to GS when CC is no needed.

Depends… what is your secondary weapon set?

Hammer is nice, the swing speed isn’t nearly as much of a problem as you’d think for proc stuff.

If you also bring any consumable that knocks down or cc and mix them in with normal gameplay for the more difficult times.. well.
It becomes more than viable with those cc gap fillers.
CC isn’t the best against bosses obviously but if you use gap fillers its a little better if you -must- stick with hammer during the duration.

Hammer + aforementioned things are fantastic for zerglike content and it takes alot of pressure off of your team.

I did level 38 today with little to no issues running GS + S/Sh. I don’t see why people underestimate the value of a GS vs trash mobs, especially if they are grouped together like in Battle for Ascalon. For the record I run Soldier weapons, Knights armour, Divinity runes and Berserker accessories. Staying mobile is the way to go.

When has it ever been underestimated?
It’s simply that since most people utilize it, a CC or two would be of great help.

Ideally one uses hammer and the others smack the mobs with every dps skill they can.
Greatswords still great, but its way easier to hit cc’ed mobs with it.

The team can have many layers, like an onion or a guy who doesn’t want to freeze his pants off in the svanir fractal.
