For my part I prefer Axe/Axe. Whirlwind is just awesome, and the main attack with the axe deals some serious damage and is way faster than 2hand. Ability 2 give some nice vulnerability bonus. So I use them all the time. Off weapon I use the mace/horn combo to receive some nice warhorn buffs, when I need them.

IMHO the 2hands are just to slow, and spaming 100 Blades can’t be the solution

So what is your choice?

axe/sword bleed build, i was bored of crit 100 blades builds

dual swords, pure condition dmg. Watching my bleeds hit 11 stack in know time and seeing nothing but 45 dmg tick 11 times a second just makes me feel warm in side…also allows me to just move onto the next mob while the bleeds kill the other. Plus a ranged throw, leap and block/counter makes me very versitile.

Been playing with GS and dual axes atm, trying to decide on something to settle down on. I would love axes if they had a charge/leap; but I’m leery of pairing one axe with mace/sword for cc or mobility.

Is it wrong to like Sword/Axe? That gives you Savage Leap and the whirlwind. Flurry isn’t all that great, I admit… but there are traits that give bonus damage/crit chance for maintaining adrenaline.

I’m just gonna leave this here.
If 2h is slow, why don’t you pop Frenzy? Or make a mesmer friend and use timewarp.

This is by far the highest i’ve done, if you build it right you can get 10 stacks of might without even popping any buffs.
You’d be surprised how many of the traits seriously make or a break a players build.

I sacrificed burst and speed for higher damage output and hp.
And its worked out pretty great for me so far.

With the limit on condition stacks I find Axe/Axe to be the safest choice.

Mathematically Axe / whatever will give you the highest sustained DPS. Hundred blades has higher burst DPS for the few seconds it’s up.

100 blades was already nerfed
So I do not think it will again, its not that powerfull anymore and easy to escape.
More dps go axe.

I personally run a build with GS & Axe/Axe or GS & Rifle, swapping when 100 Blades is on cooldown.

GS : Vuln on 1 and 100 Blades
Axe MH : Strong auto attack (the third) and Burst, Vuln on 2
Axe OH : Strong AoE but big CD
Sword MH : Strong Auto attack (DoT) and a leap

Rifle Mono
Longbow Multi and strong auto-attack

I went 0 – 30 – 0 – 20 – 20

The main thing that helps with damage is the extra damage from boons in the vit trait and the final power in precision where it gives me might everytime I crit, I independantly stack up to 17 or so might. Been using it in dungeons too, and i’ve been able to use HB on multiple mobs making clearing a lot easier.
But you can only achieve such goodness with good gear. I’ve been using my exotic gs since, before that i wouldn’t even break 10k let alone 8k.
