Help: Gunflame Berserker vs Reaper
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Remember to use Reaper Shroud #2, since it destroys projectiles.
Make the most out of your Life Force, and don’t stay in RS longer than you have to, to either tank a GFlame, or like I said use #2.
As far as his/her BStance/EPain, I would recommend using light cc, as in don’t use all your BIG attacks, wait it out, have him/her chase you a bit to wait out those two things, when you notice there off him/her (Pay attention to his/her character bar.) then unleash your BIG combos and you should be alright.
As a reaper you/we have it bad vs. Ranged attacks, so it’s best to trick ranged dps classes into busting out their skills, and when those abilities are on cooldown, that’s when you strike.

…why are you not condi reaper..corrupt berserker stance…then fear and chill them to death when berserker stance is over..
If you have any sort of corruption now you should be able to crush any Rifle Berserker now. Force the Berserker’s Stance, corrupt, pile on the condis.
If you don’t wanna go down that path that’s your choice, but now Necros/Reapers are back to almost hardcountering many Warrior builds.

A proper rifle warri wont use berserk stance, that means he has sig of fury prob, that means he has full adren at the start of a fight and able to pull of a gunflame early.other than that its a matter of using rush to get out of range so gunflame can recharge and then blast again, most necs are easy to handle on gs/rifle even without any cleansing.

There’s a function called dodge, i’m not sure the necros you are talking about know what it is
Hey Eremite.
I have been fighting lots of good reapers since the patch and all you need to do is corrupt the warr’s resistance when it pops up and then boon strip stability. I know u can trait for additional boon corruption via traits too.
Honestly if you want to wreck any rifle warr / zerk go condi with perplex and throw on one of those new sigils that boon strip on interrupt and you’ll eat them like a delicious snack.
if hes shooting 2 gunflames in a row, hes traited to try and insta merc you. shroud 2, poison cloud, dodge in any order and hes literally DOOMED after those 2 misses

You can only dodge so often, something you bait out offc.Im not sure what you’re talking about thinking necs can perma dodge.

Proper rifle War? I run this version when I have support and something like this when not. Anything let open is for personal taste or depending on team comp.
I see no reason to use Signet of Fury when Head Butt does the job of filling up my Adrenaline, doing decent to amazing damage (seen it hit 9k), and stunning them long enough to hit a Gun Flame and follow it up with Rifle Butt which sets them up for eiher Brutal Shot or Volley.
The Berserker’s Stance change hurt vs Necros but when it comes to many classes the combination of Resistance, Stability, and Unblockable makes dodging or Invuln your only way to avoid it. Crack Shot now also gives out so much Adren that it’s not the end of the world if you miss Head Butt. I see no use for the Arms line either.

Someone posted a similar question in the Necro forum (might have been OP), and I wrote a long diatribe on ways to counter a Gunflame build.
The only advice I can repeat is: always get up close and personal with a Gunflame spammer; never attempt to run away (unless you can get inside a tower/keep). My favorite thing to do in WvW is Gunflame fleeing enemies in the back.
If you get into melee range and start dropping CCs and condis, you have a much better chance of survival.

Reason for arms is also unblock at 50%,plus a guaranteed burst crit.Fury is for able to start off early at Range, headbutt for when u get jumped to fill it up again,or to break a stun.
It really depends on what build you are running. If you are running a corruption build, good: save Poison Cloud for when he enters berserker. It’s roughly the same CD.
However, since you mentioned endure pain, you’re probably playing a power build. Which means you can either run wells, signets, minions or shouts. If you are playing wells, well don’t: they are bad and you should feel bad. Same for minions.
If you are playing signets, keep them for when they enter berserker: they usually have the stab trait, you can fear them. Also, Signet of the Locust works without LoS.
Finally, if you are playing shouts, remember that your shouts don’t need any line of sight, as do most of your shroud skills, and your staff skills. So try to kite around the point, line of sight, and cast everything through a wall or a small bump.
I’m a Reaper main…I’ve not won a fight against Gunflame Berserker before…
They use berserker stance early so I can’t CC them with fear…
Then they use Immune to Pain stance so I can’t do any damage to them…
And in between they pull off two Gunflames that is so fast and hard to dodge and just kills me…
Can anyone help share some tips?

Okay this is just a joke but…..EAT IT! JUST EAT IT! THAT A WHAT YOU GET YOU REAPER SCUM!!!!!!

CONDI necros/reapers. There we go again, Arenanet forcing players into certain builds. kitten them. They gave us a GS, they better make sure its viable

Have you ever been on the receiving side of gunflame? Good luck anticipating an attack with a +100% velocity increase with a rough .3 second cast time including quickness and +15% attack speed. Only warning indicator is if you see the warrior enter berserk.

i welcome any gunflammer to duel my reaper
You guys can’t be serious? It’s easy to see gunflame coming unless you’re in a group and it sneaks but on you. Also poison cloud alone dismantles gunflame completely and destroys warriors already suspect healing. Reapers hard counter warriors badly right now. Poison cloud and reaper shroud 2 alone shut down rifle and we can’t out sustain you in melee so yea

A proper rifle warrior would not run this kittenty one trick pony signet.
Best way to deal with them is to keep 1 stun break and hold your RS untill you get high stack of vournability(above 9) this is when they use it, if they use it anyway it is prolly after they use the rifle barrage attack, so wait for b arrage attack and wait 1 2 sec then use RS#2 and if they change to gs just get out of shroud and CC them or build your lf again.
Hey everyone, thanks for the advises!
and Hey Prof Snarl! =D
I still have not won against that particular Flamegun Berserker with my power build unfortunately.
I did kill him twice though, once with a Carrion/Dire build and once with a full Dire build.
Still sad since I want to win with a pure power build D=

The fact that your noob whiny kitten could beat a fully prepared seasoned gunflame warrior two times just tells everything about the lame game balance of today

What did the Reaper do to win?
The fight is completely in your favour already. Corrupt his resistance and you pretty much won unless you continue to make major mistakes. A berserker warriors worst nightmare has always been tanky condition bruisers. That was the case even before the Berserker stance nerf.
Corrupt his resistance and stability, weaken or CC him during Endure Pain, equip some protection yourself which already negates quite a bit of his damage. Try to dodge his Gunflame and Volley, go into melee, freeze him to death.
This is one of the very few times where I think the term “lern2play issue” actually fits.
Edit: The same applies to winning with a Power build even if the advantage you have isn’t as huge.

As you mentioned, condi bruiser reaper can win against a gunflame berserker and I have won against him 2 out of 2 fights using such builds like full dire or carrion/dire mix.
Pure power Reaper vs gunflame berserker is a different story though. I don’t think you have really fought as one before if you think a pure power reaper still holds an advantage over the berserker =p

Hang on, I didn’t read this entire thread yet because that thing about dodging put up a red flag for me.
Warrior = Berserker since even though it’s not the best elite spec everyone runs them. So if you see a rifle you should be anticipating a Gunflame to the face. All you have to do then is wait for the tells.
1) the warrior glows bright red
2) he lifts up the rifle and a bright orange projectile spews forth
I have played against Rifle Berserker and I could tell when he was going to shoot me. But I could see how this is difficult if you are right on top of him. When I fight them it’s usually 2v2 or 2v1 so the rifle man will stick to the back and give you the time to see the tell and react accordingly.
if it’s a 1v1 and you are melee’ing him I can see the problems.
Edit: read it. Like people said you have projectile blocks and boonstrips. And try dodging close-range anyways.
