Solo mace with Superior Sigil of Air, no weapon swap. Make sure its as square looking as possible, Glyphic Mace might be the best bet because it looks like it already has some glowy bits.
Healing Signet, Bull’s Charge, Dolyak Signet, Balanced Stance or Endure Pain, Signet of Rage.
Probably want to be a Norn of a bit above average height, but not maxed height. Blonde, with a short scruffy beard if they have it, and whichever muscly yet lean body type there is.
Remember your Norse god speech patterns and you’re set!

best armor type?

Probably a mix of the HOTW gear (Forget the name of the pvp variant, sorry) and the gem store armor called Brahams or something like that.

hes easier to do in pve/wvw cause you can get the norn t2 helm, the starting shoulders (fanatics mantle) and toss a bunch of other stuff on and you got thor. for spvp it seems a little more difficult

You need to craft Mjolnir; next, slay 1000 mesmers then craft a necklace out of their skull and bones and wear it around your gigantigus neck to instill fear into all your enemies for generations to come.
