I dropped my warrior ages ago because the mesmer is just so much better at engaging in hit and run tactics in WvW (which is the only thing I care about).

But I’m really bored with that class and don’t have the cash available to craft my guardian, thief, ele, or engi to 80 and exotic them out so I’m looking towards my warrior once again.

Here is the question I posit to you, gentle forumites: what are some specs that specialize in running into enemy zergs, AoE bombing, and then getting the hell out of Dodge before they get ganked?

Currently I’m using a hammer & sword/shield build, but it doesn’t feel like it does enough significant AoE to justify the slow attack speed. But I can’t tell if that’s due to the crappy AH greens or not.

Your build is more of a control build, and it has a lot of AoE capabilities, you’re probably not using them effectively. I think greatsword tagged with a hammer would fit for AoE ‘bombing’ and getting the hell out although i’d recommend a bit tankier gear (not berserker) for survival.

I’d just go back to the Mesmer and then do dungeon runs / farm until you can afford to get one of your other alts up. Warriors aren’t much for anything in WvW. Or PvP, in general.

Most of the things we’re good at in WvW are under very specific circumstances. Anything we can do, another class can do much better. I’d suggest, if you plan to keep trying with it, is to bring a bow and a mobility set (either greatsword or sword + warhorn basically) and just follow the zerg, and tag enemies where you can. If you’re lucky you’ll be in a sizeable group of around ten and happen upon a slightly smaller group of enemies. I guess at that point you’ll enjoy yourself, but that’s not exactly a common thing in WvW, obviously. Warriors make fine camp killing machines, though. Good group mobility and all.

I’m not saying Warriors suck, but… you know. You’d probably enjoy yourself more with a Thief.

People saying warriors aren’t for wvw or pvp have either not figured out how to build or play the class yet or seriously have a l2p issue.

Me and my guild have a heavy warrior to everything else ratio and we theorycraft a lot on build. We mainly do wvw and atm most of us are running a Hammer/Greatsword build for heavy aoe dmg, mobility and control while still being able to perma bash/one shot squishies.

PM me if you want more info on builds etc.

You’re running greatsword and you’re ok, well who would’ve thought!

Tried anything else? See how that goes.

I have tried pretty much everything. Mostly run a greatsword for mobility and aoe tbh and the fact that i have a legendary greatsword, so kitten too i guess lol. (Apparently you can’t say E – P E E N – lol)

I’ve tried the shouts warrior tanky build with axe/sword+shiled and a hammer to backup. That is very good and viable too. And really good for zergs.

In my oppinion warriors are the most versatile profession out there. You can amke pretty much any weapon setup viable!

And what is wrong with greatsword btw?
I run 4 parts soldiers 2 parts knights gear with soldiers/berzerk jewelry with 30 pts in defence and melandru runes.
I am not some full mong in 5 signets and zerk gear. Greatsword has many versatile and applicable builds!

Not trying to bash my favorite weapon, but the damage output from 100b with shout and defense builds doesn’t seem to par well together… I havn’t tested it myself (going to) but it just doesn’t feel like it does a significant amount of damage to carry it compared to a bow or s/s that has alot of mobility and effectiveness in zergs.
I’m trying to work on a new build mate and I cud use some help, tried to add you ingame but you’re offline.

Yeah i am at work. Like i said you can follow our little gathering of warriors every night at twitch.tv/irajaxx (I am European btw)

And my name/server is in the left or in my tag!

I’d gladly help out with any questions you might have.

I wrote this in the “i have problems with condition thiefs” thred but, having melandru runes and -40% condition duration racks up a wopping 65% minus to all conditions on you! Equals to 65% less dmg from bleeds and a 10 sec cripple turns into a 3.5 sec cripple! Just examples!

And just a tip!

An interesting idea. I’d written off Melandru runes after the nerf they took back in beta, but I forgot there were condition duration reduction foods.

Whats your typical spec? I’ve mostly been mucking around with 20/0/30/0/20 because it’s fairly effective with a wide variety of weapons.
