Hello fellow warriors!
I am PVPing with condi macebow warrior (metabattle cheese build) for some months now, actually doing pretty good lately (at least better than my ele after nerfs). I have some 1 vs 1 questions and comments, if some experienced players could answer and also comment I would be in debt.

vs thief : I win almost all fights (most of them easily) BUT on a game last week I fought a thief that… erm… would not break stealth when attack? I really cannot describe it, I lost half of my health when capping close and I just could not see him! He appeared just to finish me off at 20% or something. A game later someone wrote on map chat that he encountered a “ghost thief” using the same description. I mean.. what? how?

vs DH : I slotted SoM just to be able to win against dragoncancers. I’ve read many posts that you just need to know how to play against them, well without SoM I fail miserably, with it I win 60-40 against good opponents. Really good DH still own me, I have to git gud but still don’t know the proper mechanics(?). I pop Endure Pain or shield block or dodge to avoid traps but those freaking unending blocks make me wanna ragequit. And they always fill up their health 2-3 times…

vs Mesmer (shatter): I just quit. Honestly if the mesmer is any good and I see him on point, I just leave. I suck so bad they destroy me in seconds. Is my build so bad against them or we have a chance at winning? And how to git gud against them, there are times I can’t even recognize the true mesmer with all those clones in the heat of battle. SoM helps here too (I stay alive 2 seconds more because I surprise them lol)

vs Druid : If he/she/Apache helicopter is good, I am dead. I don’t know how to avoid the kiting. If I am lucky to block their stealth arrow, the fight is mine. any tips? I ignore the pet completely, shouldn’t I?

vs necro/rev/ele/engie : I mostly win. Though I played unranked against a necro that someone on my team said he is EU unranked number 1 (is there even a rank lol?) and he erased me from existence (never seen so many skills activated on the same time :P) but he is the minority. Specially revs get rekt from condi, eles keep cleanse but they do almost no damage. Engies are tougher, battle may go for a minute or so.

vs warriors : well, mirror match is skill based. I think I mostly lose against good power warriors because resistance. any tips? should I just leave or wait for +1?

The thief likely was not hacking and you really shouldn’t be losing to a dp thief in a 1v1. Yes, condi shatter mesmer has the advantage in a 1v1. Try to avoid them in 1v1 situations but go for them in team fights. You should have a disadvantage against a DH in 1v1. You really can’t do anything against meta druid in a 1v1 but you may be able to hold the point longer than a kiting druid. If the druid is bad, you MAY be able to kill them in a 1v1 by getting the mace f2 f1 into them before they get their astral force up. You may also be able to pressure them to death after they enter astral form as they will only have one reliable condi removal (signet of renewal) left on their bar for at least 15 seconds. Meta scrapper should beat you in a 1v1 assuming equal skill. Meta condi necro, invoc rev, and support tempest will lose to you. Yes, power warriors will have the advantage over you due to berserker stance+healing signet resistance uptime plus cleansing ire.

A build you may not see often is acro staff thief which will have a slight advantage over you in a 1v1. I suggest going into the custom arena’s dedicated 1v1 arenas and fighting against the other players there to get a sense of what you can and can not do.

I really don’t lose to thieves, I mean like, ever. But I haven’t encountered anything like that. Seriously I was receiving hits out of nowhere O_o.
Acro staff thieves die easily because I practiced my headbutt to hit after their evade frames are over.
I think SoM helps a lot against scrappers but I don’t know at high level playing. I mean, any discipline will wipe the floor with me at that level.
