Help with a Build..
Pve builds don’t work in PvP , I tryed trust me it’s garbage . You cqn use
longbow with a power or condi build , power is better if you take a hammer
On weapon swap .
0\10\30\0\30 > pvp hammer\longbow
30\25\0\0\15> pve greatsword\ axe+mace
Pve longbow is garbage , people use it only for the fire field ,
then they switch back .
Why is PvE longbow garbage? o.O
Well because in PvE you will use stacking methods to melee the boss,
ranging him will take forever because the party will be spread out and
the ranged damage in gw2 is garbage. That’s why it’s much
better greatsword and axe\mace . And your party will probably get
angry if you use longbow in dungeons and you might get kicked .
OKAY.. so if I just decided to uh.. use Longbow anyways… which weapon would pair best with it? GS? Any suggestions on how to spec? I’d like to provide banners for.. some semi support..
I think you can make anything work in PvE. Personally, for PvE, I use GS and either rifle or LB. LB has a bit more range than rifle, and is good for tagging more targets due to AoE options. But I agree that your build for PvE will be / should be, different for PvP or WvW, because your purpose there and the types of things you need are really different. In WvW you will likely need two separate builds; one for zerg and one for roaming, as again, situations are different.
So, you are possibly looking at 3 complete builds as far as weapons. I think that overall you can go with Valkyrie armor and I use Melandru runes. The thing is, for PvE, pretty much anything will work, while in WvW you really need to think about removing/reducing condition damage and critical damage output. You need mobility a lot more in WvW and dungeons than in regular PvE.

For pve full berserker longbow/gs or longbow/axe should to pretty good dps wise.Gs is a better choice though since you don’t have to burn andrenaline on it for dps like on axe eviscerate though and you combustive shot can do maximum dps.
While the suggestions above are great there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
The most important is knowing YOUR playstyle and what will work best for you. Some people will prefer to use certain things over others.
Secondly be prepared to have like 3+ sets of armor and tons of weapons, because all of them have niches.
With that stuff in mind, what do you want to play like? If whatever works for you, like some have said already full zerkers for pve is hands down the best output you can get and you cant use those builds in wvw/pvp.
For pvp there are bunches and bunches, depemds on your set up/solo roaming group roaming/guild runs so its hard to really point you in the right direction so to speak.
