How Warriors "Feel" Compared to Others

Hey folks!
This is just a friendly little speculation topic, and I hope to get a lot of responses on this. Feel free to offer up opinions and new ideas!
Does anyone notice that Warriors don’t seem to have their own feel? I mean, they’re supposed to be REALLY strong!…right? But they don’t. Even with the Hammer, I notice effects that don’t quite seem fitting as a warrior. For instance, the basic attacks. When you hit with the 3rd basic attack in the chain, it’s a heavy smash! YEAH, WHOO! WHAT A HIT! I hear you shout! But the two hits before it you don’t even notice! They gently ‘plink’ on the enemie’s armor, making a sound that doesn’t seem like it’s placed properly.
Or another instance, with ground stomp. The thud of your character hitting the ground is muffled, and just a soft ‘thump’ as if you had jumped regularly, instead of a loud, crackling slam of an earth shattering leg slam!
I suppose what I’m getting at here is that Warrior, visually and audibly, just seems to be out of place when compared to the other classes. It’s not as flashy, it’s got boring sounds, and the only appeal to it seems to be the visual appearance of heavy armor. After seeing some gameplay of the new class coming out, I noticed that the attacks are so much more defined, and they feel impactful! I feel like I’d actually be DOING something, instead of just ‘Ohhhh, I’mma hitcha!’ tink
Perhaps we could remedy this in the future? Add some more flare to the warrior. It IS a super strong class, and it should be displayed as such! Give the sword slashes more feel to them, like a splatter effect on hit, or a better weapon sound, or even new animations! I suppose this all comes down to speculation at the end of it, but it just seems to be that Warriors are lacking in the visual front.
Thanks for taking the time to read, hope you reply!

Bro, have you rampaged at all today?
i remember assassins having a awesome dagger sound.
slicing on normal hit sound, and when you crit hit you hear your daggers shreding trough a metal armor…just felt so satisfying as heck

I have actually! And the foot stomps feel POWERFUL! That’s what I’m getting at though, that’s one of MANY skills, and the rest just feel downright depressing in comparison!
thats why i turned off the sound 2 years ago
This is something you shouldn’t have to do, simply based off of poor sound design.
I agree with the OP, +1. Almost all Warrior sounds boil down to: tink
Crits should sound like crits. It should sound like you’re hitting hard. With Revenant coming out, who’s going to play War after this?

You complain about Warrior sounds? What happened to all Warriors these days.
Main problem for me is:
I bought this game to play PVP with warrior and warrior only. I was imagining (based on other MMO games and based on Anet’s advertising) that warrior will be a melee class. I was imagining that warrior should be on the frontline, doing DPS or Tanking.
I could not have dreamed that Elementalist (cloth) will be the best tank. This game teach us that mage is tank or dps, mage have usefull melee build… Low armor, low hp, cloth user…
But where was warrior if mage is melee class which can tank… Warrior is ranged cissy with support role…
Something is wrong here? No.. its not wrong its uside down….
We want the Warrior to be capable of good melee damage in a sturdy body. They can still do some decent damage at range, but they aren’t as good at it as the Ranger (with their pet). They have a hard time taking enemy boons down, and instead, have to just go through them with raw force.

Who isn’t? Warrior is a completely different class.
I do agree though, we can use some… penash.

Many thanks for all of the replies on this thread! I do hope people keep responding, because this is an issue that NEEDS to be addressed, especially when you consider that one of the main stand points for Guild Wars 2 is the world and character design!
Wait, so we’re not tinkerers from pixie hallow?
I always run rampage at least once to get the massive sounds of running and stomping. At least once a day to rejuvenate my soul.
Playing warrior after playing guardian for 2k+ hours. I feel extremely strong and enjoy the no so flashy style of it. I think i’m staying here for a while.
Hitting 8k on eviscerate is great fun!

I’m more referring to the feeling of the character, not so much the ‘flashy’ and ‘damage’. Sounds and such can make a big change! Glad to know you’re enjoying the class though!
Out of the 4 utility skill types Warriors have AoE buffs, AoE buffs, self buffs and useless things. They don’t feel “strong”, they feel like buffers, because that’s what they are.

A correct statement! Warriors in this game don’t feel like front linesmen, they feel like support characters, designed to buff their allies and not much else. A bit of CC here, and maybe some damage with a well placed crit. But all around, they don’t share the same feel or utility as the other classes. Guardian being the perfect comparison, especially when you compare Greatsword skills.
Guardians get a blind, a might proc, a pull, a faster and more reliable charging attack, an easier to use and more damaging spin attack, and can combo field off of their own ability to remove conditions on allies.
Doesn’t seem like there’s much on a warrior in comparison, what with having only damage abilities and an increased crit chance when you hit with their burst. WHEN you hit.
Warrior no feel. Only feel is smash. MORE SMASH!!!
Are you kidding? When i played on my guardian it’s hammer felt like some small music stick for gently knocking on tiny catbells.
It’s with warrior that when i wield a hammer i FEEL the hammer POWER! Both burst and that crippling shockwave just 100% deliver on the feeling of raw, savage power of the warrior!
Also if you don’t want to feel a ranged support (shoutbow)…then don’t play that build! I don’t and my warrior sure doesn’t feel like 2nd rate medic in pvp.

Suggesting not to use a build I can understand, but not when it’s meta. As for the differences between the hammers, a lot of it comes down to overall skill usage and proper sound placement. When you use the shockwave on the Warrior hammer, it sends a very subtle sound across the ground…which shouldn’t happen. You are literally CRACKING THE EARTH to make your foes twist their ankles! That should make a huge sound!
Now go and use Final thrust on sword > that sound of it!!!!!!!!!!! > ping!
WTF!?? for real?
This is very true. You are stabbing your sword into your enemy with ALL OF YOUR MIGHT. And you just get a soft plink. No sound of your pommel hitting the enemy’s gut, no excessive grunt or roar from your character as they exert their energy. Just a stab, and a tink.

But Guardians have Banish, best sounding hammer move imo.

Final thrust is the worst offender… so slow, so telegraphed, so anticlimactic, even if it crits and does ok damage. The sound is weak and the animation is feeble… the ultimate shame for such an infamous skill from GW1.
IMO they should move flurry down to slot #3, and move Final thrust up to the burst slot, and give it a complete overhaul… make it a leap finisher with some roaring, screaming, and slicing sound effects, along with a brutal animation of some kind (warrior drops his off-hand and rams the sword at the enemy with both hands, maybe a flash/flourish effect to heighten the drama)
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Warrior skills need more satisfying sound effects. Nothing on warrior produces the same level of satisfaction as hitting someone with scepter auto on Necro
