Hey guys;

I was used to play a berserker warrior build in SPVP a long time ago. It was fun/strong. But after all those paths, how are Warriors right now in SPVP? When i fight warrior in SPVP with my ranger they look like the weakest profession overall(i play berserker LB/GS).

Is that my impression or warriors are weak now? I would like to play with them again.

Warrior can do little to a LB ranger shooting him from a distance. Except eat his attacks or hide behind a rock. If they somehow make it to you then they have the potential to kill you.

With warrior, it seems to be Shoutbow or Hambow or go home. I don’t even see many Hambows anymore. Shoutbow seems to be the new meta.

Overall, I think they’re pretty average. Engineers and Ele’s are the best…And warrior falls somewhere below them.

Though I notice that Necro’s are easy to kill for a warrior.

I made a topic about this recently.
From what I heard and could gather,a swel as my experience so far in the past couple of weeks…

spvp = A decent spot. Shoutbow seems to be a really thing at the current metagame and our other builds are still viable. I’ve been playing hambow with success so far.

pvp = Still important thanks to banners. DPS wise, we’re at the middle, likelly #4 or #5 on the dps list.

wvw = Good mobility for roaming, viable. Still good at zerg.

In other words, not the way we used to be. But it seems to still be ok!
We got nerfed aptch after patch though. So maybe we can expect to get nerfed even more in the future though. So yeah, brace yourselves!

In my opinion, the warrior is still a fun and viable class for sPvP. I recently started playing again after hearing about the HoT expansion, not having played for about 7-8 months.
I’ve messed around with a few of the builds I used to play and still find them to perform well, despite what others have said.

Builds I’ve tried so far:
GS/Hammer
GS/Axe+Shield
GS/Axe+Warhorn
GS/Rifle

All perform well, depends on team compositions and your overall playstyle I’d assume.
All in all, don’t believe everything you hear, try it for yourself and see how it goes.

Shoutbow – tanky support
Hambow – tanky offense

thats about it in spvp for warrior.

If you actually like to kill someone from time to time go hambow. But be prepaired that your job is not killing but being annoying. You are supposed to be that guy who turn every 1v1 into 2v1. You also have good CC and condi removal so you can last for a while in 1v1 or even 1v2 untill someone show up and save you (a.k.a kill other dudes or at least stall cap/decap until u respawn and come back).

In 1v1 you are always the weaker one, the only exceptions (not counting noobs or non meta a.k.a PvE builds in unranked) are other hambows.

Basically without longbow warrior is pretty much crap. Yesterday I try going at it with GS/Hammer build. I got rip to pieces so fast (mostly due to conditions), its getting kinda funny. The one class I can go against 1v1 is another warrior.

However, as a shout heal condition with s+s/lb, I am pretty good. The shout + lb f1 allows me to cleanse conditions decently fast that I can survive pretty well.

I agree that conditions still pose a problem to the warrior, however I disagree when you state that warriors are crap without a longbow. My most played build is one that uses GS/Hammer, and I don’t encounter as many problems as you imply. I’ve also had successful fights against other builds.

As many say, “the sruggle is real” when it comes to playing a warrior. Sure, we’ve endured a lot of nerfs, but so have other classes. Like I said, it comes down to your playstyle and build type[s]. Condi heavy builds will demolish certain warrior builds, but it goes both ways.

Warrior is good team support but not so good in 1v1 above medium skilled players. We have huge telegraphs and get penalized harsh for missing burst thx to nerf. This puts you in a tough spot especially if you are running cleansing ire. Roaming is pretty fun, i find mobility OP but other than that its about average. And PvE good support, ok damage, high health even with full zerk makes you a wanted player.

Warrior was kind of easier to play. Now they slowly changed it so that more skilled warriors get more out of their characters

Well this IMO is a matter of what opponent runs. Before the balance patch hits, fewer in sPvP are running condition builds. At least not pure condition builds. You see Ele, Eng, and Ranger, running power based Hybrids. In those cases condition isn’t a huge problem. After the patch, however, that’s no longer the case, I see pretty much everyone running condition heavy builds.

There is also a reason why GS is not the meta in sPvP. The whole purpose of sPvP is to cap point where the hit-and-run tactic of GS isn’t quiet ideal. GS’s damage also isn’t enough to burst someone down like those of dagger thief and Medi Guardians.

But yeah its a matter of play style. I however haven’t seem any power base warrior who doesn’t rely on LB to destroy any condition based builds.

Every build can perform “well” in an instant……….
i can play with only longbow naked and still do decent, because this game is just that casual, but at top level, that’s not viable and is where the game should be balanced around.

at least for pvp area that is.

You’re not a top level player, and neither am I. Guess that means neither of us should be making opinion based on balance huh?

I’m not top player, but i’m above avg at least being able to reach top 100 easily in the previous leaderboard and being better then 95% of the PvP population, having thousands of games played, being able to do well with only longbow and naked in casual game Qs, and have a decent amount of time on most classes.
making me understand more of the PvP, team structure, roles and meta.

and i’ve played every single build you’ve listed and recently being playing 60026 gs/axe mace, i know what your “well” means because i’m pretty confident at warrior as a long time warrior. and your “well” is basically the same as my “well” of longbow only and naked “well”. probably slightly better but that’s it.

After playing the PvP more intensively recently I am pretty confident to say that all classes are in a pretty good spot atm. They all have their own purposes in the game. They can somewhat switch their builds a bit to do things a bit differently. But in PvP at least, just stick to meta, and you can shine when you play right.

Ok. My point is that regardless of the meta, the warrior is still a viable class to play. Some builds may be more efficient than others, which has been the case since day 1.
You just seem like the type of person who looks for people to argue with. Learn to pick your battles my man, because not every one of them is worth fighting.

Your claims to play with nothing equipped save for a longbow are quite entertaining, I actually chuckled. Thanks for that. I too, am confident in my ability to play the warrior class, hence why I’ve stated that there are other builds that can perform well besides the meta templates. Sure, top level players are going to set the meta by finding what is useful, and I applaud them for that.

One thing that comes to mind when I think of PvP is TEAMWORK, an aspect you seem to throw out of the window. When playing PvP whether it be unranked or ranked, you’re not queuing up to play 1v5, you’re hoping to play a balanced 5v5 team game, right? The objective is not to see who can win every single 1v1 or 1vX which is what you’ve painted yourself as doing, naked. We all want to be able to hold our own whether it be in a duel or an uneven fight, and we can do that as a warrior.

Please stop seeing everything as a personal attack towards you my man.

Warrior is still viable, in groups. But on solo or in 1 to 1 duels a Warrior belongs now to the lower classes.

The reason is simple, the warrior seems at the moment a bit outdated because he has no range in a fight and most opponents have.

Almost all classes have a constant speed and for warrior there is no signet for this just a trait u get with melee weapons. So you are a bit forced to use swords! Also for mobility. But because condition dmg is op an enemy with range can stack you so much before you finally can hit him that its just simple math..range is op and melee is absolutely not op cause you have less hits.

You can say but the warrios has his rifle…well lets look at the real world out there, I play now wvw 1 year and a half and small 8000 hours but I rarely and I really mean rarely see a warrior that goes for a rifle build. Even with the changes I tried it it wont work. Bow is still better but you lose then a lot of mobility and you are running so slow then so its only ok in groups.

Solution, give warrios like most classes a signet choice for 25% speed and or make rifle a bit more realistic still.

Also make impalement with sword a realistic dmg! Cause in melee you got no range.

Realize this!

The warrior excels in nothing!

The ranger has more range obvious of course
The necro is way more tanky then the warrior and does still great dmg
Thief has way more speed and advantage
The guardian has more protection
The ele has more aoe and healing
The engineer is is op to the warrior saw that now in many duels from other ppl

But being forced to melee weapons and having not a speed signet makes the warrior a bit outdated against the other classes. I suspect there for if nothing changes you will see the warrior less. It wont disappear totally but like 60% of now. It will drop.

I totally agree that warr is worse than average on 1v1. But passive 25% swiftness stuff just arent worth it. I mean they get overwritten by swiftness. Even without warhorn, if you run pack runes and SoR you will have perma swift.

Its easy to play. Its easy to counter. You are worse 1v1 you are better in a team comp.
Warriors will certainly become less over time but it will still be part of any game mode.
