It’s decent I suppose. 2 AoE’s and a cone, burst AoE is pretty large and can be used every 7~ seconds providing you have the adrenaline. Can also easily self-apply 6 stacks of might with it.

I love my longbow for sieging or defending towers / keeps. Fantastic, also great for tagging players in Zerg’s and providing that AoE support. Put a sup rune of fire in there as well for the proc and you’re golden.

I pair it with a sword and warhorn for mobility and some in close fighting.

I’ve been toying with a Hammer / Longbow or Great Sword / Longbow build but haven’t been able to make it work to my liking.

Firing FROM the wall almost everything hits the lip on the wall unless you stand on it, and then you’re going to be pulled right off.

From the ground up the AoE’s really help with clearing siege because the effective radius is pretty kitten large.

From the wall it’s really quite simple to hit the lip, pop a shot down, and dodge backwards and not get pulled. With the right traits and gear you basically become a mobile Arrow Cart.

Ya sure, if arrowcarts did a sustained… <500dmg/s to one target. You’re getting off one shot per dodge. Might as well just fall trait onto rams, aoe/cleave, and get back inside.

I like it, I don’t have a problem with getting yanked from walls, I leave the AC’s to people WXP’d into it and that don’t have ranged DPS.

It works for me, don’t know what else to tell ya.

There is a trick for handling longbow – the projectile movement is somewhat dependant on your body movement. for example you can fire the arcing arrow or combustive shot, then jump when the cast finishes. that way you can even shoot inside towers over the gate, it also makes it much easier hitting from the wall generally the longbow damage is quite bad against siege (compared to an ele for example), but quite good anti-person. with full zerker you can do insane damage that makes arrow carts be ashamed and leaves people running quick from their rams (on the other hand being a zerker in wvw is a crazy bad idea), with condition builds you can quickly kill a ram user with combustive shot → pin down → fire fan.

i fear we will look back to this day and remember the good old wvw as it is now – Jan 2015

Depends. If you’re built for condition the damage will sneak up on people who aren’t paying attention. If you land 5-2-F1-3 on a guy he’s going to melt if he doesn’t remove conditions.

If you’re not condition you’ll still have a useful tool for might-stacking (F1 → 3) and the immobilize on 5 is always useful.

From what little I’ve done I find it to be most fun to have 10 points in Strength and just keep jumping off the wall. Basically spamming Stomp. And using Longbow for extra AoE

Personally, as a zerker warrior bring the traits that give 3x adrenaline gain on crits and shorter bursts with a bow that has sigil of fire, you can really give tower huggers a bad day. Sigil of fire does proc from your Longbow F1 ticks. From what I’ve done alone I’d like to see 2 more warriors wih the same build and you can really watch people melt. 6-8k arcing shots are vicious.
