Hey all, I wanna try out a hybrid warrior build for WvW roaming and perhaps PvE too if possible? But mainly WvW. What kind of gear/builds/weapons do you guys run for it? I was thinking celestial would be good for hybrid, but I wanna make sure. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated

I would go viper + durability rune for a hybrid in WvW or pack rune if you go with WH for speed. sword WH and mace shield as melee option. Since you need speed you have three options: Take traveler rune, pick warriors sprint or use warhorn. I did go with warhorn and pack rune. But viper with torch is nice and i enjoy offhand axe in second set too :-).

Melee burn hybrid that could work. OK equipement is maxed but basicaly this is a condi focused hybrid. Bull rush is to have a gap closer to stay on the toes of an oponent. Berserkers stance instead would be classic.
Torch 5 and then swap to axe 5 can be very funny and then burst with mace and you have the insant daze …
And you can change food to more power and precision as it fits. Precision oil or sharpening stones are all OK in this build.
And you can go shield instead of axe and use shield master.

If you somehow like axes you can also go strength and use dual axe. Its fun.

This has lots of control and hits hard hybrid damage.

Hybrid Core Warrior Standard Options

• Viper or Sinister Stats
• Runes of the Krait
• Conditions duration Sigils, Sigil of Generosity Sigil of Earth
• STRENGTH: Peak Performance or restorative Strength, Body blow, distracting strikes.
• DISCIPLINE: Warrior’s Sprint, Brawler’s Recover, Burst Mastery
• DEFENSE: Dogged March or Shield Mastery, Defy Pain, Cleansing Ire or rousing resilience

of couse thats right. I just dislike to always take discipline, but did mention warriors sprint as an option. Then you pick something like krait rune. And i prefer viper and a splash with more precision.

Hybrid match up
Hybrid works well, and like most warrior builds the effectiveness is entirely based on skill. the builds don’t really play much different from other warrior builds. Body blow, distracting strikes plays different and you have to learn how best to use your CC’s, and it gets shut down by builds that run high stability, but you can always swap in a GS to deal with classes that run high stability.

This is a hybrid warrior build i recently made and it’s been working pretty darn well. You got insane damage of both types along with good mobility and heavy sustain. Only drawback is you lack the utility that discipline gives you. If you’re willing to live without it then this build will amaze you with it’s capability.

Hybrid is pretty bad imo. And I don’t think its better than pure condi or pure power.

It amounts to weak power and weak condis. If you are not rocking 100$burn duration flaming fury and torch are weak. With krait your bleeds might be nice but burning is a lot stronger than bleeding.

To each his own though if you don;t know better like me you will probably dismiss what I said.

Gonna have to disagree with you Warlord, Vipers or even Sinister’s is by no means low damage. sure, you may not get a 10k Arc Divider out of it, but if you are critting for 6k, and ticking for 1.5k bleed, confusion, and 2.5k burns, it more than makes up for it. you can do that easily with berserker, mace/shield, longbow or even mace/sheild, sword/torch. And if you are running Core warrior, and you concentrate on CC’s you can easily tick for 2.5k bleeds and confusion, while shutting down the competition. Bunker Ele’s may give you a problem in that you may not be able to kill them, but they give everyone a problem unless they suck, and even then they can’t contest very well, while you just sit there and cap and hold the point.

2.5k bleeds are nothing when you tick for 5k burns on condi berserker. I can get 17 stacks of burn on 1 target. Thats far superior to anything a hybrid build can do.

5k burns pretty much defeats everything u said. 2.5k Bleeds also have a long ramp up time while 5k burns dont. My response was a response to somone who wanted to use krait runes. Or runes of berserker.

Bleed is very old meta at this point for warriors. When you can 1 shot players with burns.

Pretty much 100% burning is the way to go becasue of the way the berserker traits are designed they havelow durations like 1 sec in some cases 1 sec of burning is nothing.

Good example is flaming fury with 100% duration its 2 seconds per hit vs 1. Thats pretty substantial.

If I want to roam in wvw I would never use a viper build, Trailblazer, Rabid mix. You will get destroyed on viper.

Also my build is 100 times better but i’m only giving the build out through PMs. Since its too good to release to the masses.

After reading warrior 101 I can tell that emkelly has a lot of experience with warrior and is willing to help everyone, not keep some “secret” spec lol.
