I’m a casual player with about 200h but I only do sPvP & WvWvW, how much weaker am I without HoT when compared to other people with HoT? I main warrior.

You are bacisly screwed if you run into a reaper, scrapper,herald or dragonhunter.
You might have a slim chance against a daredevil….
Warrior coretrait-lines are very weak, compared to new new elites.

not really a fan of this expansion then :l kinda unfair people with expansion simply get to be stronger than those without, I agree with the new content and kitten only for people with the expansion but actually making them stronger because they buy it :l….

shouts will still work for spvp, but it’s a poor mans druid right now.

DPS warrior has an incredibly hard time in PvP.

in wvw you will still be able to make warrior work, perplex with berserker is stupid good etc. however roaming is never really fair, and it depends on what you’re fighting.

I’ve ditched warrior for PvP currently, just playing scrapper which is like warrior + engineer. warrior needs baseline fast hands, and baseline adrenaline when attacked.

If you go against a warrior using the new expansion you are actually stronger.
If you go against any other class..
Hmm let’s try to put it this way:
Well Just keep going ONLY against warrior in elite spec and you will feel awesome…

Leaving aside the delicious tears of the embittered whiners, you aren’t necessarily weaker without HoT. You are locked out of some builds though, and certain HoT-requiring builds are currently strong.
As others have mentioned, some of the elite specs are over-tuned at the moment, but they’ll likely be brought into place within the coming weeks.
As a warrior, you’re not missing out on much by not having Berserker. I personally like the spec from a fun-perspective, but it is not very strong. So as a warrior, you don’t have to worry about not being competitive by not having access to your elite spec.

You are no weaker; getting HoT would only help you if you were to switch your main.

If you stick to warrior, you’ll be just as strong without HoT, and even stronger than ones with HoT that try out Berserker.

On the other hand, your warrior is going to get crushed by most of the other class specializations, unless you buy HoT and switch classes.

Like people above says, yes, shout warrior still works. But I do not know how DPS warrior works in these days but many DPS warrior I had against after patch seem to have been experiencing bad era.

You don’t have to buy expansion for now if you want to run decent warrior build. Banner Shout and ShoutBow still work fine.

if you go Anastasis Tactics’s twitch and watch he run modified version of Banner Shout (by replacing Discipline Banner to Fear me), he says it is great build in fact. And he looks pretty much enjoy this by saying “CC again ahh yeahhhh” stuffs. I love this guy for sexy voice.. omg!!! <3

Thus, you can use any one of ShoutBow and Banner Shout, they are both confirmed to be good working builds after patch, at least by me, Tarcis and Crysis.

Anyway, if you want mobility then use banner to grant mobility and extra fury uptime. Otherwise you can replace banner by fear me just like Anas Tarcis.

For DPS warrior part, I am having some conversation with ESL’s famous e-sports star, “Radioactive Crysis” to find out any viable working DPS build. This will take time to make something safely settled down. And I guess we seem like we need a bit overall buff as well since we can listen to what people saying here. Anet will determine tho :p

You’ll be happy to know that you don’t need HoT as a warrior if you want to compete. Berserker is the worst elite spec and core traits are better.

The only use I’ve found for Berserker: Gunflame spammer. It gets some laughs in (what’s left of) WvW, but is pretty much worthless in sPvP.

I think as a warrior you are not weaker. Probabliy you will be a better place than any berserker spec with standart str def disc builds

Gw2 doesn’t have a sub fee, so I consider buying HoT as a thank you to the company and access to 4 new huge meta events with lots of shinies!

But if this is in regards to the PvP issue, its just been over a week since launch, balance wont be perfect… but soon I hope.

I’ve found that skill and ability to play competently overshadows the elite spec. I still havent bothered to go into Berserker, and I still stomp Reapers, Daredevils, Chronomancers, and most others. Only thing I have a problem with is Dragonhunters and the odd skilled Scrapper
