Hi guys, i’m a recent lvl 80 warrior- my aim is to be a selfish WvW (both blob and roam) tank. What is the best build for this? Stance + banner or shouts?

i’m full nomad btw.

Anyway, I’d say shout. Banners are unpracticals in www because you need to move a lot. Also nomad sucks.

The thing about a bunker warrior is you can swap between banners and shouts without changing your trait points. Shouts are better for large mob fighting because it will heal you every time, where as smaller groups make better use of the banner swiftness and regen. If you work on a setup for both you’ll be able to swap between them depending on the situation.

Also it’s good to know there’s more of us out there!

Banners for dungeons, Shouts for WvW or selfishness, especially with trooper runes (removes condi on you and near by allies when u use a shout) That + the trait that make shouts heals gives a good bit of sustain…when you add cleansing ire you basically never have condi’s -.-

Im actually a fan of warrior bunker builds. Pity most of the player base is so stuck up on their zerk cloud they never try anything else but imho if your running groups I would say it is better support then a guardian. I feel that this builds ability to keep 4 zerkers alive and killing means that the dmg output of this build is WAY more then if you run 5 zerk and then all… die…in 1v1s is one of the best troll builds I know due to ridiculous amounts of sustain and condi clear if you make sure you run a LB so you can’t be kited as easily

That depends on what you want out of your bunker. Guardians provide better boons, but warriors have better team condition removal. I always say take one of each to be on the safe side.

That depends on what you want out of your bunker. Guardians provide better boons, but warriors have better team condition removal. I always say take one of each to be on the safe side.

I think Guards offer much better condi clear support.

They bring 3 group condi clears. Purging flames and VoRx2 (you cold have more with Pure of Voice but i personally think that trait is a waste in pVe)
Stability. 12 seconds or 6 seconds
Aegis.
Reflect.

I run all of this, equipping what’s needed per fight of course, in zerker and it’s enough defense that i’ve never seen a need for Bunker in pVe. Other classes too bring defense while also zerking like Mesmer. Warriors banners are invaluable but let the guards and eles condi clear. If you’re in an all warrior group, or don’t have an Guard Ele or Mes, then i’m sure bunker warr would shine because it’s substituting for an Guard.

Also i’d like to add i’m saying this based on an ideal group situation where everyone is runing optimum builds or “meta” or personal tweaked meta builds. Occasionally you’re going to group with a guard that’s running mace/shield and spamming light fields over your fire fields leaving your ele fuming or he’s knocking mobs away with shield 5. When running with newer players or public groups i find bunker or cleric healing builds are effective and actually fun

I’m not great with abbreviations so I wasn’t able to come up with what VoR referred to, but purging flames has a 35 second cooldown. A condition removal warrior has two 20 second cooldowns and a 24 if going for the lowest cooldown shouts. This is what makes me think warriors have better condition clearing, though I will say again I did admit guardians have better boons.

VoR is virtue of resolve, traited with absolute resolution for3 condis cleared every 50 sec ( another 1 with renewed focus). Both persisting flames and virtue of resolve removes multiple condis, making it above warrior’s condi removal. Light field+whirl is on a low cooldown as well, and most people forget it since fire fields is preferred most of the time. dropping a symbol of wrath in between might stacking for condi removal isn’t so bad, though. You don’t have to take supbar runes like troopers and your dps doesn’t drop as much as a shout warrior as well. Speaking for pve that is.

I run a nomads guard in wvw sometimes and it’s really not even that tanky. kind of depressing, but it’s good support and I basically babysit our comm and keep him up.

I would have agreed with you that Nomad sucks before I tried it for trololo. After wearing it, I disagree.

One-shot kills barely does any damage. In the No Refuge challenge mote, I ended up ressing the entire team while half-asleep. Then I tried it solo(with my second account being Caithe), I ended up falling half-asleep(Half because the boss doesn’t stay still) while killing the boss. I didn’t need to dodge at all therefore I can res dead players for very little punishment.

To OP: Use Rampage. The damage reduction, the snare reduction is insane. Also, the amount of CC is going to annoy enemies very much and will further reduce damage.

My utilties are Defense banner, Dolyak signet, and a optional utility.

The optional utility can be either Signet of Stamina or Shake it off. Signet of Stamina for full condi clear or more dodges. You can use shake it off because of a low recharge stunbreak; this synergizes well with Rousing Resilience which gives +1000 toughness when using a stunbreak. But, I use those for PvE.

Since it is WvW zerging, I suggest Berserker stance.

PvT armour + Melandru runes + -40% condi duration food.

Can’t get more selfish than that in a blob.
