Just as the title says, the trait ‘Last Stand’ needs an icon to show if it is off cooldown or not, much like the Ranger’s trait ‘Clarion Bond’.

This would enable for more counter play on both sides, both the warr and its opponents.

This is just an example I can think of. Would suggest ANET to look into traits with such mechanics in general.

not a bad quality of life suggestion, but i think it’s un-needed.

Jamming up the condi/buff bar is a great way to cover what the hell is going on there for when your opponents dare to look at it. An old classic tactic of mesmer trying to hide their mantra charges and other such all important goodies XD

Example:
Warr shield bash and goes for the evis. Mesmer decides to use f3 to counter. Last stand procs, evis hits anyway, Mesmer gets downed with shatter f4 unused.

People generally time their CCs to kite, counter enemy burst or to set up a burst. Ain’t fun when you use your CC to fulfil 1 of the purpose mentioned only to have a passive trait proc stability. If there was an icon, enemies can better prioritise and time their CCs.

I’m not particularly moved by this, tbh. The mesmer in your example needs to worry about this only every 40s, and the warrior could just as easily choose to actively use Balanced Stance or Dolyak Sig (if they have it) mid-Eviscerate to foil the interrupt anyway (I often do this when executing a clutch move).

Seems to me the smart player will actively manage the warrior’s Last Stand, and a number of people I regularly duel do just that. They use a small cc at the start of a fight to see if I’ve got it, which also gives them 30s of not having to worry about it (following the 10s of stability). If a major attack is coming in and they’re not sure if those 40s are up, they’ll dodge, blind, or do something else. Then proc Last Stand again, rinse and repeat.

Given that warriors with Last Stand will often not run with non-zerker stability, a smart player can manage a warrior pretty effectively this way. Honestly, the warrior is obvious enough… making it even more obvious for something that can be discovered fairly easily seems unnecessary.

Yes your points are valid. However I see no harm in adding an icon to indicate whether a passive trait is on or off cooldown. Compared to clarion bond, last stand serves a better purpose for competitive play so why not? Same logic as people in the pvp forums asking for there to be an icon for the 6th bonus of nightmare runes.

Yes warriors are telegraphed but if you time your CCs right you still get to land your bursts.

Regarding the Mesmer example, what if the Mesmer was running perplex runes and meant to interrupt for the 6th bonus? Yes we can give 101 examples on how to go about it, baiting the last stand proc like you mentioned, arguing that most Mesmer runs with 2 stunbreaks on top of shatter f4 etc. As you mentioned, most warrs often run without stunbreak/stability utility skills with last stand traited, so doesn’t this benefits the warrior themselves as well? Knowing when not to, and when to play more offensively vs class/builds that you know rely more on their CCs to counter your bursts. Likewise it enables the warrior themselves to bait enemy’s CCs.

Perhaps it wasn’t a smart move coming up with such an example as people may argue based on the measures and skills/traits different classes/builds can use as a counter. Especially people that plays the different player vs player aspects of the game. Name a move and most can come up with the counter, it never ends.

So again, if ANET finds the need to add an icon to such a minor trait like Clarion Bond, Last Stand definitely deserves one too. But hey! Don’t worry since ANET takes forever to proceed with such adjustments anyway.
