I’m still destroying with hammer.
You’re going to get told that while it might still be able to deal some damage, it’s not a massive burst anymore.
And an overwhelming majority of Warrior players live and breath for that burst. Give them a source of consistent damage and watch as they snark at how boring it is. Though I suppose that has to do with the history where Warriors had trouble staying in a fight.
Yeeeeeeep. Me too.
After changing some traits and some gear around I still find myself dealing 4k ES on some targets. I can just imagine if I had thought of this build before the nerf how OP it would have been.
From a thief perspective…warriors just became a whole lot easier to fight. The difference was just so apparent.
Now if only they’d nerf mesmers….

I seriously hope that you aren’t implying that, as a Thief, Warriors where hard to kill. I would be very embarrassed to admit that.

You’re losing to Mesmers as a Thief? Thats a problem with you, not Mesmers.
Ha!, I sense so much anger!
If I were a warrior i’d be embarrassed to admit a thief could beat me. In fact when I used to play warrior (dual swords/bow condi banner regen), the only issue I had with thieves was when they ran away after failing to drop my health below 80 percent and I couldn’t catch up.
Mesmer is pretty much regarded as the strongest 1v1 class in the game. Someone did a rough poll on all the class boards, mesmers pretty much stated the only other classes they have issues with are other mesmers and condi engineers. I could play as a cheesey perplexity p/d spamming thief build and win like that, but who wants to play that dull set up.
Don’t be so angry at your hammer nerf, you still have healing signet.
Yeah I used to play condi warrior before the change they made to sword and usually if pin down connected the thief was pretty much dead.
After the patch I decided to see how Hammer was effect. I’m still doing good with it. Made a new build for it 0/20/30/0/20 and it seems very effective. Sword/Shield off set using Barbarian Amulet with Vaklyrie jewel.
I would like to ask those who number crunch if they could give me a comparison on the Hammer auto-attack compared to the Axe in PvE please. It hits really hard so was wondering how it’s quicker auto-attack series compared to Axe
Yup, same here. I went from 10/0/30/30 to 0/20/30/20. I lost around 2k health and some power, but I gained around 10% raw crit, and perma fury on top of that. Not to mention bleeds and vulnerability on crit. I felt a bit squishier, but we were outmanned by both JQ and SoR in BGBL last night so it will take some time to see how comparable it really is. I definitely don’t feel like I took a nerf, but I think any extra damage is mostly coming from the bleeds and vulnerability rather than hitting harder for raw numbers. Hammer and sword/warhorn, by the way.

I’m not angery, I just find it funny to see a thief saying he has problems killing warriors. I can see a thief struggling with warriors in PvP but in WvW thieves are a Hammer Warrior’s hard counter. Thieves also have the advantage of being able to reset the fight as often as they want, slowly wearing us down to the point we they can come in for the kill (makes for long frustrating fights). We do have some builds that are better vs thieves but Hammer is definitely not one of them. Although we seem to fair better against Mesmers, the trick is being able to pick him out of his clones and keep the pressure on him.

when roaming i use GS+Sw/Sh , i eat thieves on breakfast and there is no way for you to run.
as for zerging unsuspecting foe is too valuable to let go, so i went with 0/20/30/0/20 for now and it proved itself yesterday, though still testing changing some traits/gears.

Personally I did the stun-lock physical build (mace/shield + hammer). Whenever a thief would pop out of stealth I’d stun lock them until they panicked and went into stealth, where I would then pop my heal, get back to around ~80% HP and wait for them to show themselves so I could stun lock them again. Quite funny.
Im also still killing with hammer. Its still just as fun and i still do a consistent amount of high damage bursts. I just changed around a few traits, took out the bow, and gave myself a different amulet. Now im just as good if not better.
took out the bow better.
RIP

This was pretty much my experience with Warr’s… I played as a condi-thief for most of season 1, and warriors were the toughest to kill. Bursty thief builds, like yishis-style builds, do much better if they can time their blinds (blinded warrior can’t stun).
That being said, for the first time I was able to handle most mesmers with a little more ease. They are a nightmare for my necro.

How can you say that there’s a difference now? There’s almost no difference for me at all. Does this mean that warriors wasn’t OP from the start?
