I’m sure every move has some use, and 100b gets mentioned quite often in every melee build for a warrior.

But, having recently started a warrior, I’ve noticed that I keep getting knocked down / interrupted while using 100b in pve. In addition, moving while using 100b will cancel the attack, so I can’t dodge attacks while using it.

Is there something fundamental that I’m forgetting / not using with the 100b? Am I suppose to use this move in conjunction with some other ability?

EDIT
I’ve been playing with a guardian before this guy, so I’m probably too used to moving around while using whirlwind with him.

Use an axe build if you can’t manage the immobility from 100B. The delta between axe builds and GS builds isn’t extremely significant. In an optimal environment, you might lose 5-10% dps, and in GW2 this difference is practically irrelevant for all but record times.

If your group is doing 50,000 dps, swapping to an axe might lower your group dps to 49,000 or 49,500. In a ten minute run, that means your run will take ~9 seconds longer. If you’re having to interrupt 100B, miss damage, or die due to the immobility, it’ll actually make the run faster.

What’s knocking you down?

While it’s true that timing can/does matter you should for the most part strive to use this skill off cooldown.

Here’s a demonstration for an ideal warrior rotation in PvE. You won’t be able to maintain this perfectly all of the time, but if you’re used to it you’ll slowly become accustomed to timing evasions against enemies as well.

I have two utility skills that give stability. Against certain foes i use stability soon as i start hundred blades. (as it doesnt break cast I can time it for the right moment). Soon as things get hairy, use the swirling dodge attack to get away from the fight, turn round, use 4 on it, so it takes a while to catch up to you then if you are me switch to rifle and shoot them from a distance while running away as you are faster than them. I more or less just rinse repeat this process. (you can prepare attack 3 on gs so its one click when ready to dodge and attack, while you are doing hundred blades. the transition from one attack to the other is instant)

when rifle is used up, i swap back to GS, use 5 to dash in, i use dodge through them (so im behind them) after the initial attack (as monsters will initiate an attack soon as you are in their hitbox, doing this buys you more time for hundred blades without getting hit) then start with hundred blades again.

think of hundred blades as a stationary flamethrower mode for quick bursts on mobs or long attacks on bosses, you dont actually HAVE to do it for its full duration and the cooldown is pretty fast.

This is very wrong. 100B damage is backloaded. The 9th hit is worth 20% of the total damage of the attack.

There is no difference in damage between the meta 56003 GS/Axe+Mace rotation and a 66002 pure Axe+Mace build if you play with a group that stacks might for you. And if you play solo, go whatever fits your playstyle more. (But GS would be stronger thanks to might generation and mobility.)

For the knockdown problem – take stability with you. The problem is not that common since not many mobs use heavy CC and when you are in an aerea with heavy CC, stab is good regardless of the weapon you use.
