Is dual- wielding dead now?
There isn’t,grab your bow and run the meta train, better yet just run bow/bow !
Dual swords seems pretty strong as long as you max out the Arms line. Lower CD’s higher crit chance, and 15% attack speed all seem viable. Dual anything else, not so much.
So, my berserker axe/axe is not viable anymore? Screw this

With dual swords you are probably running a condi or hybrid build in which case you would probably be better off running furious gain. So yeah, dual wielding is pretty dead.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Dual-wielding is well and truly in the realm of condition-builds now..
I did love my axe/axe berserker also, but can’t come up with any build that synergies well with the combo. Having said that, I am waiting on the elite specialization to see if that changes things up.
I have asc axe and mace that I will be keeping in my inventory from now on… Will be running full meta now (GS + Bow, because rifle have trouble to hit some stuff, that supposed to be easy to hit). Offhand axe was joke in 99,9% situations anyway. Main hand axe can’t compete with new GS trait + berserker’s power.

I’m in the same situation. I’ve been running warrior axe builds for a long time, but after these changes, it looks like axe/anything or anything/axe will be very subpar compared to other weapons in the new meta. Since the warrior specialty will be focused on a different weapon, I doubt that it will offer anything extra to save axe. After these changes go live, my ascended axe is either going to get buried in my bank or handed off to some other class than can still use it.
OH mace may benefit from the 15% attack speed increase, but I’ll have to see it first. OH mace is great, but I can only use it in pve. In pvp and wvw, the attacks are too slow and easily dodged, but a 15% speed boost may remedy that.
I still think they should toss in the 5% damage increase for dual wielding. Make it baseline.
A lot the new trait changes kinda skip over the concept of duel- wielding, and the traits that do focus on it are just…..lame. I’m looking at you axe mastery. Plus, they still haven’t fixed most of the off-hand weapons. So what’s the point in duel-wielding anymore?
duAl, DUAL wielding, is that hard to spell?
So, now what is the viable build for PvE? Greatsword, again?

(? ?° ??? ?°)? The meta is probably not changing at all (? ?° ??? ?°)?

It’s amazing how people prefer actually prefer axe over greatsword. People just have some sort of hipster-appeal with the meta. If it’s popular and good, then I don’t want to use it, regardless of actual gameplay or mechanics.

yeah but if axe mastery would have been in discipline u could have axe/axe axe5 for half a sec to get instant 3 bars and then interrupt it with eviscerate to proc berserkers power and then auto attack with dual wild ability or swap weapon to greatsword or axe/mace. it had potential to be meta…but then people would actually use axe5 for the full duration which would be so much worse xD

You misunderstand. I have no quarrel with greatsword, everyone is free to use whatever they wish. I just like axes better than swords, and one handed weapons over two handed weapons.
For power its dead for Condi it will be great. Condi dual wielding got a significant buff.
warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene
In PVE use what you want. Looks to me that Axe/Mace is more than viable.

I can only speak for myself, but I actually don’t like having movement skills automatically tied to attacks. I can be clumsy with fat-fingering keypresses, so it’s way too easy for me to accidentally press #3, or to simply mis-aim Whirlwind Attack when I’m actually trying to use it, and the warrior goes spinning off into all manner of badness (off cliffs, into previously unaggro’d mobs, etc). To a much lesser degree, I sometimes have issues with Rush causing me to move unexpectedly too.
By comparison, I much prefer the Axe for it’s relative lack of movement to with attack skills. It has the leap on F1, but the movement with Eviscerate seems much more intuitive as part of the burst, and I don’t have any issues fat-fingering it. I also like the flexibility that it offers in letting me run alternate off-hand weapons such as mace or warhorn.
Ironically, I actually like the appearance of the greatsword quite a bit, and I find many of the GS skins to be superior to most of the axe or off-hand mace & warhorn options. I just wish the GS skills were less prone to error, and more in line with my preferred play style.
In light of this i posted a suggestion of moving axe mastery from grandmaster strength to master arms.
Take a look:

If you can please give your input there.

In PvE? It always was and will still be viable because pretty everything is in PvE. Probably not the most efficient build, but effective and viable.

Anything is viable in WvW and PvP by that definition, too.

Hmm .. +300 ferocity from axe-mastery .. doesn’t look that bad for me.
With 100% critical chance that would also be 20% more damage, and you don’t
need full adrenalin for that.
[edit]
Ups .. i overlooked that it is of course not on to of the old axe mastery

Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

That isn’t how it works. Increasing crit damage by 20% even at 100% crit chance is not anywhere near a 20% dps boost, as the crit damage bonus doesn’t improve the base damage before crit. A 20% damage boosting trait is far, far superior since it applies 20% damage boost to both the base damage and crit damage.
Proof:
Build A.
Power: 2500
Crit Chance: 100%
Crit Damage: 120%
DPS Mods: 1.0
coefficients: 1.0
Total dps: 2326
Build B
Power 2500
Crit chance: 100%
Crit Damage: 100%
DPS Mods: 1.2
Coefficients: 1.0
Total DPS: 2538

Axe is a lot more fun than Greatsword, I think that’s the issue. GS is just mind-breakingly dull, especially after 2+ years of it.
My request is to simply move Axe Mastery down to Master instead of Grandmaster. It’s more or less analogous to Forceful Greatsword, in terms of benefits, so why the tier difference?
I’d be fine if the ferocity bonus got knocked down a little to ‘compensate’ for the rank change. As it is, this isn’t really a choice, it’s a penalty for using axes. (No other weapon has to sacrifice Berserker’s Power.)

Yes, it’s viable but not efficient.
