Is there a delay between finishing the cast of the spell and when the banner lands that you could get downed in between that time and get res’d?

There’s a slight animation delay yes, but I’m almost 100% positive it won’t rez you.

I’ve been killed once immediately after casting Warbanner and it simply didn’t show up even though the cast technically finished, idk if that’s how it’s supposed to work or if I had a bit of lag that made it look like I finished it.

But either way I wouldn’t count on this to save yourself cause the slight animation delay is just that, SLIGHT lol

well, engineers and rangers can self-rezz, so basically, I wouldn’t say, it’s impossible right off the bat, but…
The question is, whether this small delay would be enough for you to go down and be fully recognized as downed by the game before the banner fires off.
This is something which actually might or might not work, depending on the current server load.

You can fake drop your Warbanner simply by interrupting the cast. The banner will drop and make its pretty sound and animation but it will quickly fade and you’ll see the banner go on a short interrupted CD. However if you DIE mid cast the same thing happens only your banner will go on a full CD despite not even dropping, at least that’s what happens according to the bugs page, can’t say I’ve tried to drop a banner with next to no health left.

To answer your question, yes it can be done because I’ve done it myself in fractals jade maw. I was dying from agony and used the banner. The timing is tricky, but I went to downed state very briefly before the banner rezzed me.
